       Computer Art Festival 2000 (CAFe Party'00) report

                              or

                 "Pati, which you missed."


    The idea to go to CAFe'00 occurred to me quite

party, it is necessary to visit two of our "Soviet":). Heated

animation, which was stored on my hard drive almost 4
year. I knew that at the party this time, except for me and my
self-sacrificing girlfriend Aline, gathered Manwe (also with a 
very selfless woman with whom he subsequently appeared

on CC'2000:), Shaggy Nick and someone else whose name I forget.


    None of them was able to buy tickets (later realized it)
and we Alina got a couple of second-class on svezhesdannyh
pure chance. Buy tickets hampered by the fact that
Kazan station was constantly surrounded by police, because
someone regularly called and reported a bomb threat. But
it's just a saying - a fairy tale come.


    Our train was late by several hours, and as a result of this
we missed the multichannel music compo. Warned ahead of time
Organizers honestly waiting for us on the platform, but the 
train was late as in pig, that they have lost hope and went back

: (. Disembarked from the train, we were immediately pleased 
Alina marveled at the abundance of amusing inscriptions in the 
Tatar language to Russian translation (like "kassalar", 
"platformasy", "kafedrasy" etc.), causing funny associations, 
as well as extremely idiotic slogans on trams ("Who breathes 
fragrance - Young, handsome and rich "- :-).



    Kazan - the capital of the richest republic of Tatarstan,
looked in many places half-ruined, at best
home just peeled and drip. Claim that all
repaired, but in such a way that some quarters demolished
entirely, and in their place erected new ones. Trams are filled 
by people cue even in the absence of rush-hour - the 
authorities have long undertake the construction of metro to 
facilitate the movement of people, but until the end is still

details of local color, since this is also part of life.

    In the lobby of "culture house" sat silent Auntie-vahtersha,
who asked us where are we going,
after which we freely went into the hall and were in
darkness, where the habit I have not seen anything, except
huge screen in the distance, which clearly
demonstrated the Spectrum. Bumping into the rows of chairs, I
blinked his way to him while in front of me did not arise
someone hefty. He smiled happily somewhere in the dark and
asked: "You - Tanju? And the picture you look a lot
more! ".


    Then I was taken to a white light and questioned about
people to stay in Moscow, as well as other vital
detail, in the course of conversation, I met with Lasoft'om
and even some of the Kazan sceners. The question "What is now

opened terrible truth: this demo party there is no
Demo work! By the time of tendering the organizers did not
was no intro and a single demo, but requests for demos and
64-to intro of T-Rex and SandS, but learned that "competitors" 
no, creators have refused to exhibit the work (and in fact - to 
spend time for their debugging) without competition. Upon

    Regarding content - work handdrawn-graph me
very impressed, but among the render (held on the following
day) were pretty funny. Particularly amused
audience of two images taken at the Amigo,
depicting wine bottles, although I am an artistic
value seems somewhat questionable (2pasha - no offense!
:). MP3-music compo, in my opinion, it would be post-factum
renamed the "house-music compo", because the continuous
gay dolbezh stopped only occasionally (new-age'evaya
track your humble servant was the only one in which
never heard percussion instruments, and I gave it straight into 
the the contest (thanks, found a place in the list), because

somewhere in the middle just does not bear this fun and dolbezha
solve thinning. But in general I'm not going to release any
MP3;).


    After a musical competition the first day party ended, and
Organizers invited visitors to settle their (!!!) in a hostel
to 25 rubles per day. Settled in a hostel was, except
me and Alina, a few other people - the guys from the famous
Moscow group "Antares" (including EA with Sister),
moustached resident Yoshkar-Ola, which we note with interest
interviewed and used it for a bowl of tea;)
as well as extremely sociable sceners (with an earring in one 
ear and tattooed on his shoulder, made on his own

project) - Hell'Cyber'Cannibal, whose nick, we could not
learn, calling it mainly for harmonious family
Goremykin;).


    Next day party was dedicated to four-channel music compo,
render graphics and animation, but people were still lower than 
in the first day. When listening with the lights on MP3, I can 
easily counted everyone in the hall - there were no more than 30

people (including the organizers!), and the second day during
4-channel music - no more than 20 (put a total of 18 
vote-form!). 


    Work in the Channel 4 were, in my view, frankly weak,
much weaker than last year. By the way, the results
Competition surprise of all present, including who took
first EA / Antares - he openly suggested that it
will not take it;). But these were the results. After enough
tightly held contest was a pause, which lasted
a few hours - waiting for the Minister for Youth Affairs, autumn
arrival of the previous CAFe, but arrived only aunt - his
representative.


    Announcing the results, the winners were awarded large
beautiful diplomas, freshly printed directly on the party-place.
It was really nice. After the ceremony
Auntie's representative came on the scene and a very pathetic 
views was attributed to the remnants of the audience on the 
theme of absence money for prizes. It was proposed to repeat 
the party again - and This time, a modest funding of the prize 
fund guaranteed! (However, it is "guaranteed" and this time,

but it turned out, as in the joke about the horse, "Well ... 
could not!"). 


    It should be noted that no one was offended at
organizers for lack of cash prizes - understood everything,
that they are not to blame in that they "cheated"
statesmen, and that they both made really
VERY much for this party. Good, clear
projector, a large room (unfortunately, almost completely
unoccupied), high-quality stereo-sound (a hefty column
Professional Mixer Mackie), who, though tainted
rotten acoustics in the hall :(... eventually settle
non-resident guests! And it was all so sad
ignored by YOU, my dear comrades sceners. I believe
that the party organization was able to calmly digest "
a couple-hundred other people, but, alas, lack of public
desire to overcome the distance and do something to play its
role. "Forgotten" demo party was held, so to speak,
half empty.


    Apparently, the charge of the scene are missing out on so 
many demo party in one year - Paradox (Rostov-on-Don), Millenium

(Minsk), CAFe party (Kazan), and Chaos Contructions
(St. Petersburg). And it is the scene of our many, many millions
countries ... Did you know that the same party, if not more,
held in Finland, whose population can be equated to
Moscow (if I did not get them mixed up)? Well, we will not 
further criticize our zarugannuyu scene, where everything is 
already cursed before impossible). I just want to say that the 
organization CAFe'2000, as well as last year, was on a fairly

high (if not the highest among our party) and all
Organizers were sober and carry out their functions. 
Interestingly, where did the one hundred people, which was to 
last CAFe? 


    In addition to all of these pleasures, to the party
present a powerful AMIGA, which during the breaks
periodically swirled known amigovskie demos, as well as
I was drawn in real-time fish (regular, well I love them
paint ...) on the big screen that decently entertained
bored people:). Between the first and second days at the 
apartment Lasoft'a place hidden party, but we're in it Alina

participation is not accepted.


    Also of note is a heroic swim team members
Antares in polluted Volga River, after which one of them
solemnly given the nickname - Oilman (he's a decent
smeared in the river pollution, and is rumored to have failed as
should be washed until Moscow itself:). This concludes my
story of the Computer Art Festival 2000, held in glorious
