    NOTES ON PRONUNCIATION OF NAMES



    The ancient Sumerians did not have an alphabet in the modern one.

reference books and manuals containing translations

"Maklu", the only available translation of which is in German
language made by Talquist.  The meaning of the word “maklu” itself
"maqlu") is ambiguous; Tallquist believes that in reality
it means "burning."  This is all the more plausible since
discovered spell texts almost invariably refer to
about fire: usually about the combustion of the so-called “volt”  
a doppelgänger representing a witch or sorcerer whom
wishesdestroy the caster.  Here we are probably dealing
also with the archetype of the Great Burning Times, when the Inquisition
condemned many people to fiery death as sorcerers and
pagans.  The chant "Burn! Witch! Burn!" in all its pristine
splendor can be found in the text "Maklu".
