We have a long way to go -
                                through centuries, across different lands.
But first we will allow ourselves
one story that will set you up
the reader on a wave of awe and
bewilderment; will help you understand how
all this mysticism could survive and
                                survive today. So,
                                Let's start!..

At the end of the 16th century, a wealthy gentleman lived in Auvergne.
named Sanrosh. He lived in grand style, kept servants, was happy
married.

Sanrosh's estate was located on the mountain. Of the many
the landowner and his household admired the green slopes from their windows,
a fast stream, a magnificent forest and distant mountains,
visiblein a bluish haze.

One afternoon in the early autumn of 1580, Sunshore was sitting
window, when a servant entered and reported that Monsieur Ferol had arrived.

Ferol was a well-known hunter and fisherman in the area, and
Auvergne was considered an excellent place for these activities: in the purest
The rivers are full of fish, and the forests are full of birds, deer, and bears. Ferol
came in to invite a friend to stalk a deer together. Sanrosh
he regretfully declined the invitation - he was waiting for his lawyer,
who is about to come in on business. Ferol went alone.

The lawyer came as agreed, and for more than an hour they
were busy with matters related to the estate, Sanrosh even forgot about
visiting your friend. After seeing the lawyer off and having dinner, he unexpectedly
I remembered the afternoon invitation.

There were no more urgent matters and Sanrosh was not expected, his wife was also at home
there was none, and so as not to be bored alone, he decided to go
towards your friend. He quickly descended the path leading
into the valley, and a few minutes later noticed on the opposite
upside down the figure of his friend, all scarlet in the last rays of the sun.
The closer they came to each other, the more clearly Sanrosh saw
that his friend was excited about something.

When they met in a narrow ravine between two slopes,
the landowner saw that Ferol’s dress was torn and covered
dirt and stains that look like blood. Ferolwas very depressed
and was barely breathing, so his friend put aside his questions and limited himself to
by taking the hunter's musket and game bag. Some
For a while the friends walked in silence.

Then, after catching his breath a little, but still noticeably worried,
Ferol told Sanrosh about the amazing incident he experienced
in the forest. Here is his story.

The hunter had to walk through the forest for quite a long time before
than he saw a group of deer not far away. Get close to them
He couldn't get any closer to take a shot. At the end
Finally, while chasing them, he entered the thicket and felt that
the return journey will take a lot of time.

Turning home, Ferol suddenly heard a terrible growl,
coming from a damp ravine overgrown with ferns. Slowly
backing away and not taking his eyes off that place, the hunter, step by step,
covered about fifty meters when a huge wolf jumped out
out of the ravine and rushed straight at him.

Ferol prepared to shoot, but stumbled - his boot
hit the root - and the shot missed the target. Wolf with mad
roared and jumped at the hunter, trying to grab his throat.

Fortunately Ferol had a good reaction - he hit the beast
butt, and he stretched out on the ground. Almost immediately the wolf
jumped up. Ferol managed to grab a hunting knife and with considerable

engaged in mortal combat.

But a second's breath and experience helped the hunter, he managed
wrapped the cloak around his left hand and now thrust it into the beast’s mouth.
While he tried in vain to reach with his sharp fangs
hands, Ferol struck with a heavy dagger, trying to cut
animal throat. Ferol's hunting knife with a wide and sharp, like
razor, blade, with a huge handle was almost the same
weighty, like a small hatchet.

Man and beast fell to the ground and fought in a furious duel.

at the same moment Ferol grabbed it with a knife, cutting it with a sharp
blade flesh, tendon and bone. The wolf let out a long sad sound
howl and, breaking away from the hunter’s embrace, limped away.
Ferol, splashed with the blood of the beast, sat exhausted on the ground.
The cloak was torn into strips, but he was relieved to find that

your friend in the dark. One can imagine with what excitement Sanrosh listened to this
a detailed story, every now and then interrupting it with exclamations
surprise and fear. The friends walked slowly until they entered the garden
Sanrosha. Ferol pointed to his bag: “I grabbed the animal’s paw from
yourself,” he said, “so that you can be convinced of the truthfulness
my story>.

He bent over the bag, with his back to his friend, so Sanrosh
couldn't see what he was pulling out. With a strangled cry,
the hunter dropped something on the grass. He turned and Sanrosha
He was struck by his deathly pallor.

“I don’t understand anything,” whispered Ferol, “after all, it was
wolf's paw!>

Sanrosh bent down, and he, too, was gripped by horror: she was lying on the grass
a freshly severed hand. His horror increased even more when he
I noticed several rings on the dead graceful fingers. One of
them, skillfully made in the form of a spiral and decorated with blue
topaz, he found out. It was his wife's ring.

Having somehow gotten rid of the completely bewildered Ferol,
Sanrosh wrapped the brush in a scarf and, stumbling, trudged home.
His wife has already returned. The servant reported that she was resting and
asked her not to disturb her. Entering his wife's bedroom, Sanrosh found her
lying in bed in a semi-conscious state. She was
deathly pale. On the sheetsblood was visible. Called
doctor, and he was able to save the life of Madame Sanroche with skillful processing
wounds: her hand was severed.

Sanrosh spent several agonizing weeks before deciding
talk to your wife about this story. Ultimately unhappy
the woman admitted that she was a werewolf. Apparently Sanrosh was not
a very good husband because he went to the authorities and reported on
her. A trial was initiated, and after the woman was tortured
fully confessed to her evil deeds. Soon Madame Sanrosh was
burned at the stake and the werewolves did not disturb Auvergne anymore.

This story appears in one version or another in many
evidence from that time. She is definitely one of the most
vivid and disturbing illustrations of a terrible phenomenon. Now
the time has come to call everything by its proper name, to try to shed
light on this mysterious story.
