Alternative "life" - in 1988, the magazine "Young Technician" began publishing articles about the microcomputer "UT-88".

A long time ago, in 1988, the magazine "Young Technician" began publishing
articles about the microcomputer "UT-88". In one of the rooms, except
diagrams and articles were given "Programmer's Games" - Tetris
and "Life" by Conway.

Since then, when I encounter new articles on the topic of “Life,” I
looked through them impatiently and... put them aside, not finding
nothing new.

And two years ago, leafing through the files of Computerra,
I discovered something new, namely URLs and new patterns.

By that time, the city had relatively good access
on the Internet, and I was not slow in harnessing my friends to download everything that
was located on the indicated links.

What a disappointment awaited me! The links turned out to be dead
there were no programs for FTP, etc.

A little later, having weaned my friends from using the search engine
www.killer.com, I started going through all the links related to
"Life".

And here Eden and Avalon in one bottle were waiting for me!
I discovered that “Life” has found a second life on the Internet.

Of course, there was always the question of using a computer
to explore patterns. I've been trying to write mine for a long time
program for these purposes, but after seeing programs for WinZ2
abandoned the idea.

What can you say about the Breeder generation, which does not die, does not
turns into a static/pulsating picture, but moves,
leaving behind a tail? After a couple of thousand moves this patternrequires 11 MB of memory!

Many, many people have been researching "Life" for many years.
and its individual representatives, wasting their and machine time.
And as a consequence of this, “heresies” appeared - alternatives to these
self-sufficient and very real laws.
