6 place - Mooncat by AER
5 place - the monsters by AER

First of all, in order to put everything in its place from the very beginning, you need tell us a little about who AER is. Indeed, without knowledge of this it is impossible will understand his demos, why he makes them and what goals he pursues.

I’ll say right away that I myself don’t know who he is. I only know that he lives in a village with called Malinovka. Wikipedia gives ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THREE (I specifically counted) settlements with this name - and this is only in Russia. This is, in my opinion, very revealing: AER is an unknown guy from an unknown a place lost in the Eurasian expanses, he lives and makes his own pleasure, in almost complete isolation from civilization - and does as he thinks necessary, as only he likes.

The second thing I know about him is that he started learning assembly language quite recently. Literally, I haven’t had time to master the second interrupts yet. Remember how for all of us, 15 years ago, this was also almost the most difficult? Well, I'm sure he will master them. And he will do many more dems, both with the first interruptions and with the second, and even, perhaps, with the third and fourth - especially since it works at an astonishing pace.

Overall, if I were voting at the party, I would give it an 8 or 9 out of 10. Most, in any case, would give lower ratings, and still As a result, AER would take the places it is in now.

And the last thing I would like to say about the AER demos - and I’m talking about both at once Demah is music. Moreover, the author pays the main attention to it, and It is for the sake of music that he makes his demos. So, this is the last time I felt like this I had music on the Spectrum while watching Bomb from Ate Bit. You listen - and like Spectrum, old AY, old-school sounding track - but something seems wrong, seems like something completely different. You listen - either the beeper is there or something else something. Or maybe it really is a beeper?..

4 place - kilo demo by AAA band

And as you know, we are a hot people
And we can’t stand the tenderness of calves,
But we love calf souls,
We love to beat people, we love to beat people,
We love to hit people and screw things up.

The most normal part in kilo demo is, of course, the intro. Where presentation of the authors. Firstly, there is MmcM music.Secondly, if you believe to the authors, hand-drawn faces. The scroller is just normal. Well anyway in general. But the epilogue was very tiring for half an hour. There's probably nothing more say. Maybe there aren't too many effects for a megademo. I would like more. Look, look. And then bam - and an epilogue for half an hour. completely converted.

3 place - 8bit trashmo by AAA band

First of all, I would like to say the following. How many years has it been with us? General Sound? About fourteen years old, probably; no matter - experts me in any in case they will gloatingly correct it. During these fourteen years several dems were made under G.S. But among all of them there was not a single demo with normal music! None normal track on GS! In fourteen years, with so many musicians! Everything it ended either in a ripped mod or some insipid pop song. Question in how generally advisable it is to use GS in demos in this case, if you can write a track on AY, which sounds much more pleasant and is generally better all parameters except the number of channels? Why music on General Sound is it an end in itself? Why can't musicians write a normal track for normal demo; Why is everything limited to mods at the 93 level? Like rip - take the mods of the endnineties - from muffler, radix, xhale. That's what should sound in demos under GS. Why isn't this happening? It's unclear yet.

I will now make a reservation so as not to be misunderstood. I'm not saying music here - bad. Yerzmyey - well done. But when I watch 8bit trashmo, I have I get the feeling that the demo is running with the sound turned off, and the mod is playing in my Fubare. Anyway - to the point.

It seems we can say with some confidence that AAA Band made this demo a decisive step forward. 8 bit trashmo, as you may have already noticed, is completely consists of animation. The “effects” are quite monotonous and only take up something about a third of the screen. The most different from the rest and that's probably why The one that seems to be the best is at the very beginning, with flying octahedra. A small plus is that the "effects" are not placed in a frame, or worse - not spinning in the middle of some picture. Otherwise it could have been really bad.

On the one hand, of course, it’s gratifying for the AAA Band that they don’t get hung up on megademo. This is encouraging and encouraging. The only thing that doesn't please me is that they keep walking around Yes, and they still won’t make a real demo, although having tiboh, repeated and deserved winner of coding competitions, they are not only they could - they simply have to make real, normal demos. But AAA continues to stand his ground.

And one more very important point that pleasantly surprised me. At allthe pictures stand, untouched AAA, signatures of the authors. And all authors are listed in credits. And themselves The pictures were transferred to the Spectrum quite well, in general. It's sudden turned out to be the bright side.

2 place - the board by alone coder

Over the past few years, Alone Coder has been reproached for what he does strange demos for strange hardware, and that these demos don’t work, let alone on most real world - and even on emulators. Well, that's all true. But Alco remains true to himself and sticks to his line - which is generally characteristic of everyone democompo participants. This time Alco made a demo for ATM Turbo 2+ with 14 MHz (or ZX-Evolution), and this demo is, in fact, a demonstration of cool 3d engine with color per point. The first effect is a chessboard, after which this deme is named. It's hard to say whether this happened by chance, or whether Alone Coder chose purposefully, but such a name is even too logical, since this the effect is, in fact, the only demo effect in the demo, if you don’t take into account messenger. 3D objects, of course, are very cool: a lot of polygons, decent fps. But they do not create a demo atmosphere, they rather look like a demonstration Zd engine. Well, that is, here they are spinning; they show us clearly, in numbers, how cool is that- and this is probably technically really cool. But it's not evokes no emotion. Therefore, taking into account all that has been said, the final phrase about that “128k is dead” looks completely unconvincing.

In general, the board, which is quite logical, is very similar to Nedodemo and TheLink. But in first of all, it is not similar to what is happening on the screen, and not to what they are made on a computer - but what they leave after viewing is the same impression. Imagine that they brought you a bucket of selected strawberries, only with the beds are juicy, large, and smell great. A whole bucket. you start it eat, and you realize that it is completely tasteless. You eat one or two berries, you take the third one - and you see that the bucket is already completely empty. How so happened? Not clear.

That’s what I don’t understand.

It’s not clear how such a brilliant coder (I think, without exaggeration, it’s possible) say), like Alco, which has such powerful resources, can do almost everything - realizes its powers in demos, not only not completely, but maybe somewhere even less than half. Just imagine what wonderful demos we could have: long, real, with classical or with some new incredible effects, with fast 3d, with clear synchronization under GS-mod. If Alco wanted it that way. But for some reason he doesn’t want to. Or maybe he wants to, but doesn’t do it yet for some reason. Whatmaybe - there is no doubt about it. Therefore, we will wait.
