dihalt 2011 report
by sq/skrju
I have long been convinced that a report needs to be written immediately upon arrival home. Immediately, the minute I took off my bag, took a shower, changed clothes and sat down to the computer - from the very first seconds. And the point is not even that it needs to be done, while the memories are fresh. This must be done because then it simply may not there will be time”, the opportunity will not present itself, you will not be able to force yourself, there will be no the impulse to sit down and write. It's like with letters. If you have received letter, read it - respond immediately. Otherwise you won't answer. This is how I am now - Exactly two weeks have passed since I arrived in Dihalt. Absolutely exactly two weeks - I arrived in Nizhny Novgorod exactly at the same time, what is it on my watch now, at eleven o'clock in the evening. I got out of the carriage with a huge backpack on his shoulders, in which there was a heavy Soviet tent, and with brown leather bag on my shoulder, where I kept all sorts of necessary things like e-reader, flashlight, water bottle, wet wipes and etc. While still in the carriage, approaching Nizhny Novgorod, I corresponded with GD/tbk and Anbeliver. Dyusha (GD) told me that he had already drunk, so he would come to me meet Vasya JtN. Subsequently it turned out that Vasya also drank, which, in in general, it didn’t stop him from coming. Although not as a driver.
NotI know whether it’s even worth describing everything in such detail. Plaid/Triumph specially asked me to describe it exactly this way, so if you, my dear reader, suddenly it becomes boring - you can start reading one line at a time. However, the question about the details of the reports are akin to the question of the need for reports as such. A the question of the need for reports quite logically flows into the question of the need to do anything at all. And the answer to this question is already extremely simple. However, again, to the point.
Thus, upon leaving the carriage, I did not find any of those greeting me and immediately, in panic, completely unaware of his actions, rushed into the building station, where I received a call from Anbeliver, who was already so close to his family, in an imposing and burry voice he politely asked where I was and in what connection I was no near the carriage. I told him that I was in the middle of the station hall and immediately received an imperious directive to stay there and not set foot anywhere step.
A minute later, I saw the familiar silhouette of Anbeliver entering the station, and together with him mike/zeroteam, Vasya JtN and Lena - Xam/4D’s friend, who, in fact, was driving. We said hello and walked towards Vasya's legendary Hyundai Santa Fe. Mike and Anbeliver went to spend the night at the hotel, and we loaded into the jeep and went to the party place, into the night. On the way we stopped at a gas station, which was closed for a break, and weI had to wait about fifteen minutes for it to open. Then, having refueled, we drove on. To the forest, in the depths of which was located partyplace, we were driving using the navigator. We drove further on a whim. Finally, seeing in the distance the lights of fires and lanterns, it became clear that we were there.
It was already completely dark and almost nothing was visible. We landed at the "camp" tbk+4d, Bfox was there with them, who will be there throughout the next day forced to listen to my grumbling about the unfinished track in the epilogue, and always smiling TmK, whom I was also very happy to see. I hugged everyone with Cyberjack, with Dyusha, with Lyolik (pROF/4D), with his iconic brother Mishka, as as if we haven’t seen each other for several years, although I was visiting tbk+4d in Perm exactly two weeks ago, at Cyberjack's birthday, at his famous dacha. Others in words, at the traditional Poisoned People Party. And after another week we again had to go to Perm, to the same dacha, but already completely another party, completely new and never seen before - the Openair computer. But all this will come later.
In the meantime, we faced a hot, mosquito-filled night of zero days. Xam/4D sat on ottoman next to the grill and cooked food, and as far as I remember, in the next two he practically never left this place during the day. Bfox seemed to be finishing the picture, but as soon as we arrived, he put it aside. It was decided to put up a tent. I finished eating your cutlets andcheese sandwiches that I didn’t finish (which in itself is very strange) on the train, after which we set about putting up a tent right in front of the car Dyusha, since in the light of her headlights everything was visible relatively well. Through common efforts we took out a huge tent flap from the backpack, from where the small iron pegs for stretching the tent, and several long ones wooden, for support (Plaid, Sashenka, all these details are specifically for you!).
By this time, all of ours are already, so to speak, all sufficiently “tired” and were about to go to bed. On the surface of the partyplace there was a sufficient number of tents have already been dispersed; someone has already gone to bed, someone I was still spending my last time by the barbecue and fire. Bfox finally finished drawing the last one the missing picture into our demo and we went to bed, leaving the unfinished track in epilogue for tomorrow.
The morning, as always, began suddenly. I crawled out of the stuffy tent towards the sun, which I have been scolding for the heat for several days in a row. The sun is sure heard me and was already preparing a surprise for me.In the morning the most elite Ford party van was supposed to arrive with traditionally the largest delegation from Rybinsk - Cyberpunks Unity, which were presented this year an unprecedented number. And he arrived. Alf immediately branched off from them and from the first within seconds, according to the scheme worked out over the years, he plunged into the abyss of intoxication, from which got out with difficulty evenArriving home, having stayed in it for another week by inertia. The rest built a huge tent city on the outskirts of the party clearing, closer to the descent to the beach. Most of all of them, again traditionally, was Miguel, who drank, partied and socialized with everyone. Mikha, you were great!
However, my soul was restless. First of all, I didn't get enough sleep, but... secondly, we still didn’t have an epilogue track for the demo, and I was annoying poor Olezh Blackfox literally every five minutes.

The day gradually gained momentum, people were relaxing, swimming, the weather was wonderful. As Anbeliver later noted: “For the second year in a row we have been lucky with weather." Indeed, I don’t even want to think what would have happened if suddenly a thunderstorm began. I don’t even want to talk about it, because in the next Dihalt will be on the move again!
Prof was lying in his tent and finishing the picture of Mr Tree, which he later will take second place. Periodically he came out of the tent, drank, sat with us, after which he climbed back. Cyberjack, Dyusha, Mishok, Vasya JTN and Alf were hanging out, drank, talked to people and had fun. I did all this with them. Periodically we went down to the beach and swam. The water was wonderful. The whole party was more to come. And everything was very cool.
And so, at some key moment, I felt an irresistible drowsiness and decided a littletake a nap in the shade. I took a sleeping bag, a pillow, some I went deeper into the forest, found a place in what seemed to me to be shade, made a bed and lay down. The loud music of AY did not bother me, but rather lulled me to sleep, as did the joyful screams and conversations around. I fell asleep very easily and quickly.
I woke up about three hours later because I felt terribly ill, and I could not determine why. My head was pounding, my vision was blurry, and as I staggered, I got up from the ground, and it turned out that I was also feeling nauseous. The sun is up grinned contentedly, having carried out his revenge. It turned out that everyone had lost me and they couldn’t find me - I very successfully merged with nature.
Meanwhile, the track for the epilogue was ready, but I had absolutely no idea what was happening around. I sat down at my laptop, opened the source, tried to insert the finished one compiled track, but everything started to freeze, nothing was loaded, it was shifted synchronization In general, everything was as it should have been.
I started moaning how bad I felt. The person standing next to me was the first to respond to my moans. Preston from Quite.
- You have heatstroke, buddy! - he diagnosed and was absolutely right.
They immediately took me into the water and dipped me there for half an hour. Wet the T-shirt and tied on my head. I sat down to finish the demo, and Preston rubbed me with vodka and fanned him with a towel. Basically, he saved my life! True, when I thanked him for it, he said that he saved mejust because I need It was time to finish the demo. If we didn’t have a demo, he would have left me to die!
Meanwhile, the party organizers, as if teasing me, began preparing delicious food, soup and barbecue. Preston and I repeated many more wellness procedures times before I gradually began to feel better. I stopped feeling sick only when sunset, when all the soup had already been eaten. I didn't get to try it and it's The only thing I regret about the whole trip to Dyhalt. However, there remained a little shish kebab, and I ate it with pleasure, eating a loaf of bread, generously watered Heinz ketchup.
The sun was gradually starting to set, which meant that the visual components would soon were about to begin. And they began. I can hardly remember their order now, yes it doesn't matter. As soon as it got dark, people from all over the forest gathered in front of the tense between the trees a sheet. The presenter with a microphone in his hands was the permanent Anbeliver, who joked and burned simply incessantly, so that in the end the compo My stomach naturally hurt from laughing.

By the way, not everyone lived to see the compo. So, Mike/Zeroteam, who first came to Dihalt, and for the second time at the Russian demo party, could not resist the temptation: Mayhem They lured him to their table and gave him a drink. Mike didn't understand what they were saying, Mayhem didn't understood what Mike was saying. But alcohol is international.
Mike missed all the competitions, despite the fact that he was in the most profitable place, about twenty meters from the screen.
And the most active spectators were Cyberjack and, as he rightly called his Anbeliver, “the most elite demoscener from the city of Kovrov” - Crazy Bender. They stood in the front row, right next to the screen, and commented on each work with apt, with biting and fair cries. Alf, in one negligee, lay on the damp the ground, and, snoring sweetly, slept.
There were enough works, and not only on the Spectrum, many of them were very cool; however, you can read reviews of all Spectrum works in this issue.
Deep into the night, the competitions have finally come to an end, but the party, of course, is not yet ended.
Those who had been having fun since the morning scattered to their tents. Alf took mine filling it 95 percent from the inside. Mike was carried into the tent to the Organism. And we with Ized, Preston and Unz from the awesome group Quiet, and with TmK it’s still midnight sat by the fire, talked and got burned. Not far from us, on ordinary foam, Random lay peacefully sleeping - a picture worthy of Kandinsky's brush.

It was already getting light when I went to bed. I walked around the forest a little and found free space on an elite woven carpet laid directly on the ground, which chatteringly brought ZS and MmcM from Samara, and on which Anbeliver was already sleeping, put a bag under your head; so as not to be bitten by mosquitoes, I put my legs in a backpack from under the tent, I set fire to a mosquito stick and quickly fell asleep.
On Sunday there was nowhere to rush and, having slept well, I woke up already in the afternoon, having passed a difficult morning for many. Unlike the fast Saturday, the first day of the party, which passes unnoticed quickly, party Sunday It always goes slowly. Some people need to leave already; so, they packed up and left, without waiting for the results, Quite; they left in two cars, taking with them T-shirt, tbk and 4d.
Somewhere, it seems, at that moment a large and red fire truck arrived. From her, with music from Kruzis playing from the organizational machine throughout the forest, as in film by Bekmambetov, angry firemen came out and loudly notified everyone about that it is vitally important to extinguish all barbecues and fires. Naturally, they they obeyed, and the men, threatening with their fingers, left solely in order to all the fires and barbecues at the same second flared up behind them with a blue flame, soaring to the blue skies. The guys returned again, and Anbeliver and Random went negotiate with them. The conflict was resolved thanks to diplomatic genius both. As Anbeliver later said, the decisive argument that convinced uncle, was the phrase of Random, dressed in the latest metropolitan fashion and not leaving the firefighters no rhetorical avenues for retreat: “Well... WeThey just DID NOT UNDERSTAND." After that, the guys got into a big red car and disappeared beyond the horizon forever. And the delicious Mayhem kupats were finished fried and eaten in the blink of an eye.
After the results were announced, people began to leave even more actively. Not anywhere Only Mayhem, who planned to stay here until Monday, was in a hurry, and also Random, who, like the others, drank the trendy Dyhalt beer with them warm vodka, washed down with almost boiling water from five-liter plastic bottles

I didn’t have a return ticket yet, and I didn’t know when I could leave. On The Russian Railways website had one ticket for today, for a train that I couldn’t catch in time - he was leaving in two hours. And I still needed to assemble the tent and the scattered to the whole party place things.
And everything was resolved as follows. We are with Anbeliver, Pulsar, ZS and MmcM, who also had to leave soon, got ready, said goodbye to everyone, and went towards the city through quicksand, dangerous gullies, a gloomy forest and sharp stones. The plan was as follows: get to the station. inquire about availability tickets for tomorrow, purchase them, and then improvise. Having demolished several pairs of steel boots, we finally, with the heaviest bags, reached city, tearing down the “To Dihalt” signs from the trees along the way. ZS and MmcM prudently grabbedon the party place a five-liter bottle heated to the sun and water, which brightened up our leisure time on this difficult journey. Then, a taxi with air conditioning slowly approached, we got into it and drove away station.
Imagine my surprise when, firstly, there were no queues at the cash registers, and secondly, we managed to arrive ten minutes before that very train to buy a ticket in a super-cheap compartment and put me in the carriage. I said goodbye to Pulsar and Anbeliver right at the platform, and we even fucked me with an excellent bow.

So, I went home, and Maxim and Dima went to eat at a nearby McDonald's station. It is for this reason that I spent the first half of the way home I wondered if I had done the right thing by taking a train ticket and going home.
And I slept for the second half of the journey.
