Demoscene Report Since SE#06
By ps
A lot of ZX Spectrum productions came out since March 2024, most
of them from Russian and Polish demoparties but also some random
releases coming from Portugal, Norway, Sweden, UK and Hungary.
If you're looking for demowatching recommendations, you came to
the right place, starting off with a bunch of tiny intros re-
leased at Lovebyte 2024 from multiple developers. Two of my fa-
vorites were "Department of Twisting Scrollers" by Neon and "The
Dove of Peace We All Need" by Joker.
Lovebyte also saw the first official use of ZX Spectrum livecod-
ing tool, first developed by Gasman and later improved by nyuk,
used at Synergy 2024, where we also had an interesting demopack
of tiny intros released by Marquee Design titled "Unfinished
Business", and was later used at multiple editions of
Multimatograf since 2024.
Also released at Multimatograf 2024 was the demo "Unspoken" by
Stardust, one of the more active speccy groups in the last cou-
ple of years. Unspoken won Multimatograf 2024 with an intense /
in your face attitude of effects and music syncs.
A few months later at Chaos Constructions, sibKrew, another of
the most active Speccy demogroups of late released "crossplat-
form incident" requiring a Pentagon.
In 2025 we witnessed the release of "Add Mortem" at speccy.pl,
the main Polish Spectrum demoscene event, a collaboration work
between Joker and Arise, which ended up winning them multiple
awards, including the GOTY ZX Spectrum best demoscene production
of 2025 award and the Meteoriks award for best soundtrack along
with a nomination for best oldschool production.
Other interesting Speccy demos of 2025 included "Esprit" by
Stardust at Multimatograf and "Pa Tur Med" by Five Finger Punch
released at the Edison demoparty in Sweden. Newcomers Otomata
Labs also teamed up with veterans Virtual Vision Group to
present the first anaglyphic 3d intros in the Spectrum at Xenium
demoparty in Poland, "Parallel Visions" being my personal fa-
vorite.
Chaos Constructions 2025 was dominated by "Corvet" by Stardust,
doing some magic with line drawing routines. Later in the year
at Demosplash, Virtual Vision Group released "Touching the Sun",
one of the first more serious demoscene productions targeting
the ZX Spectrum Next.
Multimatograf 2026 saw some new demo releases by both sibKrew
and Stardust and DiHalt Summer had the comeback of Kpacku de-
mogroup with a stylish demo titled "The Pencils". Also at DiHalt
Summer, props to Dmitry_Milk and his beeper vocoder vocals demo
"We Are Vocoders".
Last highlights of this article, releases from UNDEFINED 2026
Summer party with a comeback demo by CPU and an anonymous demo
by Undefined Team that might or might not contain members from
deMarche and Stardust.
