Blitz survey - an interview with musician and programmer Shiru Otaku.

Promised Land #04
1. Please introduce yourself!

Shiru Otaki/ANGEL2. In the world Alexander Ser-
gay, but not Pushkin:) Born in 1981
du, in Moscow. I live in it.

2. How did your passion for Speccy begin?

From games and from Dendy :) First, a year ago
In the 90th I saw a certain box with friends
keys, where from the cassette for a very long time
some toys were loaded (later I
found out what I played on Speccy for the first time -
Chase H.Q., Castelian, Pac-Man, Death
Star). Then, after 2-3 years, when
there was an influx of Steepler products -
affairs Dendy. And I realized - I want to do
games! (I was into electronics back then).
No concepts about computers and programming
I had no knowledge at all :) It’s clear - so that
to make games, you need a computer. It doesn't matter
what kind;) After much questioning with friends
I asked one of them to use it
some kind of crap. She showed "(C) 1982
Sinclair Research", and Vistula;) It was pe-
ripped Speck, which I ruined in a matter of
minutes;) Then there was Delta-C 48K. I'm on it
and began to master BASIC (in which
wrote a lot of games). This Delta was just
wonderful car - colors uhbeptupoba-
us (or rathershades of gray - in color I
Speck observed no more than a week during the entire
the name of communication with him - with the real world, I mean in vi-
du); using the FOR operator in any
form was punishable by complete freeze (apparently
The ROM was broken) - I had to unscrew it -
There are conditions and GOTO ;). Then there was Master
(48K). And then a friend (AVD, he left with
Speccy just at that time) gave me his
Kvant-BK 48K with a disk drive (in 1995). This
it was very cool :) In 1997 I saved up
money, and bought myself a Pentagon-128 (AY,
disk) - instead of Sega (and twice as expensive;),
which I also really wanted to buy :) Under-
connected it via RGB to the TV, and for a week
enjoyed AY music and colored toys
mi. Then the computer fell to the floor, and noro-
relay RGB output (LN buffer). I like him
repaired it, but the next day it started otka-
call Klava. Cut from Dynael-48, on
long and thick wiring harness. Via
day everything came back to the floor again, and
never worked again (can't be fixed)
I could ;). Rearranged AY into Quantum, and so on
form sat on it until 2000, when he left
zero Speccy, going to the best of worlds :) For
the whole epic with Cnekamu was replaced by about 20 of them
(only 2 of them - 128, died instantly -
shikh), only Kvant has survived so far (nih-
who doesn't need it? - I'll give it to good hands at -
freebie :). Speccy taught me how to program
knowledge, logical thinking, assembler
Z80 and forced me to take up music (whichI’ve been studying computer science for 4 years now,
and live - keys, guitar). Why do I give him
and grateful :) For all the time I worked with
Speccy I practically didn’t cross paths with anyone
repented (although many Speccy celebrities
those years they lived/are living almost under the weather
com!) - the only thing I met was my
current colleague, ESA. From 1996 to
2000 we sat on the Speccy with him (not
creating associations, simply writing games,
sometimes together, sometimes apart - show
to each other, who is cooler :). Now we are sitting
together on another platform... Yes, that's it
time I was called Shuric Program, and ESA -
Sergey Entertainment. Some of ours
lamer crafts have been preserved to this day,
and they can be found on the Internet, on everything from-
becthom zx.da.ru.

3. What is your main activity in
Speccy sphere?

Writing letters to various magazines and echoes
zx.spectrum;) In addition, kindly
remnants and strong nostalgia for the times,
when everything was so simple - I pee in
emulator music on AY (weak, but what
I can't help it - I'm not an expert in AY :), programs
all sorts of different ones (ALASM rules! And before I was on
Gensch ruled ;). That is, although I left long ago
zero Speccy, my activity in itsphere
sometimes it happens, and she - code, music, foreign
where a little bit of gfx (small graphics).

4. What else do you do that
Is it related to Spectrum?

I'm nostalgic :) I download everything that comes out
software, I am surprised at some of the achievements of
I'm trying to help somehow
interesting Speccy projects. There are also
ideas, but absolutely not enough time.

5. How do you feel about statements like
"Speccy is dead"?

Normal. Speccy for everything progressive
of humanity really a long time ago
but dead. So what? Rock and roll is dead too.
Long live rock and roll!:) Long live
Speccy is also available :)

6. Your attitude towards other platforms -
primarily IBM-PC and Amiga?

RS rules!:) You can’t sit for almost 3 years
on PC, and shout that it sucks;). Yes and
How can a computer that sucks suck?
used by 90% of the world's population? Rules
everything you're interested in sucks -everything that
don’t like it at the moment - that’s how it should be
be. Just don't shout that something
- it sucks if you don't really know what
this is it (well, or when your knowledge
one platform is worth nothing on another
platform). I like Speccy, I hpa-
RS is hanging around, I even (oh God!) like it
Windows, sometimes :) I also like bo-
over hundreds of other platforms known to me
(computers and set-top boxes). The only thing is, I'm slightly...
I don't like the Amiga - I don't know why.
Probably because her fans are very
they like to shout "Ammy - rulez, RS - suxx", and
in general they are very inadequate :) Immediately after
unhealthy suspicions creep in;) Although
the car, in general, is not bad - for its
time.

7. Which Speccy Scene member are you currently with?
keep in touch one way or another
degrees?

Alone Coder (90%), Klim, Newart, Black
Sat, Paul Paulov, Andrey G. (2% to each:)

8. And now the standard questionnaire.
best coder/group: Alone Coder (I think
few can object).
best musician: it’s hard for me to say - their
a lot :)

a lot :)
best gfx`er: Diver, although in general there is a lot to
good ones (there are almost no bad ones).
best game: Black Raven (my huge re-
Slava, the scale of the work is impressive).
best demo: Rage (the only thing that works
really memorable).
best ezine: Adventurer, ZX-Guide.

9. And finally. What could you wish for?
Spectrum fans in general and our readers
in particular?

Go to PC;) Joke, of course:) In
swear by what they like and sincerely
love the subject of your passion - but also
keep a piece of your mind open to non-
biasedunderstanding otherwise. In the world
there are so many interesting things - you have to be pa-
knowledgeable in everything :)
