<b>Miscellaneous</b> - an interview with the renowned British spektrumistom Gasman / Raww arse.
      Interview with Gasman'om

(C) of this Site Construction Chaos: http://cc.enlight.ru

From the editors: in the original interview was in
two languages - English and Russian.
We post here only Russian-language
version of the interview. Those who are not groping in Russian,
let them go to the official site Construction Chaos'a ...

Random: For starters, tell me a little
about yourself, your group and how you learned about
CC4? What spodvigli you come to St.
Petersburg?

Gasman: Well ... Me. I Gasman, from
Oxford, in England. I coder and musician
and people always tell me that I am the most
Big Demon spektrumist, which they
know. My group - Hooy-Program, perhaps
the most active group on the Spectrum today, letting out a
constant stream of Crap and not work. I also am a member of Raww

Arse, a group of which I keep asking
though she is almost dead, but news portal raww.org

I think I first learned about from CC4
email'a Mitchell'a. However, since this
was the main event in the calendar Spectrum scene, no doubt I
would have learned about it long before (in contrast to

other party, which take place without any publications in the
press).

  What I originally spodvigli travel
in Russia, a big head of advertising on
attracting foreign visitors to Cafe'03, which I learned just
two weeks before the party. At this point, I promised

myself that I would come to the next big
Russian demopati, which will take place. Squander 6 months in
advance. I wrote Mitchell'u that I was interested in CC and
what could be this year, I finally made the trip. Before I made

learned of this, the rumors increased in total
Scenergy and published news, screaming
"GASMAN VISIT IN ST PETERSBURG!" Naturally, my reaction was
"Well, well, it seems that choice is made for me :-)

Random: How do you get to Russia? Difficult
Whether it be? As you have resolved the issue with the visa
and where to stay in St. Petersburg?

Gasman: A trip to Russia was very neopredlennoy ... Everything
started with the aircraft Amsterdam and then to Riga, and it
can be called a demonstration of the reasons why I I hate
flying with transfers. The first flight was delayed due to bad
weather and to how we landed, we just said "passengers flying
to Riga: you will be late for his plane." Amazingly lucky that
the Riga flight detained at the same time and I had him.

From Riga, I went to the sleeper train to St. Petersburg.
Frankly, it's a bit unfriendly route for any

person who does not speak Latvian or Russian. Of course, I did
not expect that the protection will speak in conversational
English, but they could at least offer me tea

or coffee, as they did for everyone else ... We crossed the
border in the middle night, which was very strange test - lie
in the silent dark black coach, listening to the steps of
border guards and waiting at any moment, the doors burst open
and they will ask your documents. Almost as if I was secretly
imported into the country.

Resolving the visa was simple enough and
included a much anticipated (and payments in
different places). Online I found an agency
which organized the visit and ordered
Hotel Vyborg, near the metro station "Chernaya
River. "At first I was hoping to rent a room
in the LDM, but he was fully occupied,
and I needed to clarify agency, what I really want the hotel so
away from the habitat of tourists in St. Petersburg :-)

Random: What is your opinion about the work submitted for CC4?
What were your expectations? They are justified? Do you have
the most favorite work with CC4 and why?

Gasman: I had very high expectations for Spectrum works - for
the past few months, much to the
disappointment, Spectrum demos were
produced very little. This meant one of the
two - or Spectrum scene is really dead, or all of their
cherished work for CC. Naturally, I had high hopes at last ...
and I was not disappointed. Traumwerk was the demo, we've all
been waiting for, you can now show people Spectrum is a scene
and say, "THIS Modern Spectrum demo. kakomto In another contest
I was impressed by the demo Imagination - one of the rare
demos, in which everything is done flawlessly. Music code
design are perfectly combined together into a coherent whole.

Random: I can imagine how the European party you attended. Than
they were similar than differ compared with CC4?

What do you think of the Russian stage? What do you
most memorable for CC4? Is there
advice for the organizers of the future?

Gasman: The most obvious difference - CC4 was more structured
than the other party that as I understand it, was dictated by
the distance that people had to overcome (making it impractical
to bring their iron). And also the fact that patipleys was not
open 24 hours a day. In This is both good and bad. On the one
hand, you lose some of that atmosphere, when something happens
in every corner, creative energy flowing everywhere (in most
European party would have been unthinkable establish deadlines
for the week prior to the ...) And on the other hand, was very
nice to see competitions in the spotlight as it should be,
instead of people hiding in the bar or be ignored for the sake
of long-party contests in DOOM 3.

I'm afraid to suggest something for the future
party, since there definitely exists
demoscene has its own culture and what works
the western party, can completely fail on the Russian.
Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see what can happen

If you add more breaks and free time in the schedule (may be
combined some music contests ...). Who

knows, maybe we can watch the interesting creations and work
together ...

What really opened my eyes, it
show "Assorty Mega Shock" in the wild contest
and how everything in the room understood the joke, and not
just Spectrum sceners. This made me realize how great

Spectrum was a Russian computer culture - to the point that it
became Shock Megademo almost mainstream'om how was the rest of
the Second Reality for a scene.

Random: Are you planning a trip to the CC5 and
if so, whether you plan to take
participate in competitions? What?

Gasman: It is still too early to tell, but I think there's a
good chance that I make up my mind again. Also, I keep telling
myself that if I I'll go next year, I'll take a few

additional time off, I'll fly on the cheap
flights to Germany and then go to scenic edges of the train,
where I will have half a chance to have the opportunity to
speak with a guard. Let's just say, such plans in my head is.
What about competition - I type more and more obligations on
the scene (With projects such as AY Riders and the more recent
fad Javascript demos in Assembly). So, more and more difficult
to find time sit down and write something like this demo, and
even harder to know where I'm going through 12 months :-) But I
just prepare as at least another musical work, and

maybe something else. Furthermore, I even
began to write 512 bytes intro to CC4, but
through the night writing code was quite clear that I did not
have time: - /

Random: Do you have something to say to our Russian readers?
What would you recommend to the Western sceners who thinks
visit CC5, but it fluctuates?

Gasman: I want to thank everyone who
made my trip so enjoyable and
memorable. A Western sceners - let us not hesitate to decide! I
did it and survived ... and you can :-)
