              Hello, people!

Somehow in the last issue DEJA VU shine
there was information on connecting to SPECCY disk-
5.25" on 1.2Mb (more precisely, their conversion from
1.2Mb to the 720Kb we need). So, here you go,
I would also like to share with you some
their thoughts on this matter.
I will give a specific example of connection
TEAC drives. Most of the information was pre-
delivered to me by Valery Kovalev, for what
him and TNX!
I’ll say right away that everything written below would be...
was found out purely experimentally, (according to
Russian, in the sense - at random :-)) or rather -
New purpose of jumpers on flops I myself
I'd like to know.
So, to trim the 5.25" flop to 1.2
Mb to Spec, you need:

-1- Change disk rotation speed from 350
    at 300 rpm
-2- Switch drive from HD mode to
    DD mode.

Let's look at point -1-.
─────────────────────────
Specifically in TEAC, the rotation speed can be
but change the jumpers. As it turned out,
there are at least two varieties
TEAC models at 1.2Mb. I give a description of
each of them:

                   -A-
 TEAC FD-55GFR 570-U.

It also has a bottom board very similar to
board from the 720th Teac (FD-55FR). Resistor-
new matrix on the connector; 3 chips - in
housings with 60, 44 and 16 legs.
We turn the flop over with the motor board
top, face towards you :). To the right of the
large chip (60 legs) look for approx.
Literally such a group of jumpers:

┌─────┐ Jumper
│SPR_2│ in position II - 350 rpm.
│(5x4)│ in SI or I - 300 rpm.
└─────┘ (which is what we need).

 -B-
 TEAC FD-55GFR 141-U
 (or FD-55GFR 149-U).

The bottom board is similar to the board from the 360
Teac. The resistor matrix is soldered into the board;
2microcircuits - one large rectangular
for 100 legs, the other for 16 legs; small
disk drive engine.
To the top left of the largest microcircuit
we (for 100 legs) are looking for approximately such a group
pu jumpers:

┌──────┐ We put the jumper in that
│SPR_3 │ the place where it shows
    │(9x10)│ arrow.
    └──────┘

Now let's move on to point -2-.
──────────────────────────────
Switching from HD to DD is done before
quite simply - on the second contact of the disco
TEAC's water connector is filled.

   Actually, that's all.
The rest of the jumpers from the flop are better, in fact
in general, remove (except for selecting the drive and U1),
without them everyone is happy, but with them they can be
glitches.
You can check the disk rotation speed
Edit in ADS. Must be 300 rpm. Now-
Rich, you can safely use the flop on SPECCY.
By the way, now you can do 5.25" HD wheels too
freely format and record (right-
Yes, current 720Kb :-)).
I will be glad if this information is useful to anyone.
