About slithy shorkov - not weak poem from Alice in Wonderland.
Long ago, when the earth was flat, there was a Good cartoon "Alice in Wonderland", based on book by Lewis Carroll. And Alice had once turned down nonweak poem: Varkala. Slithy shorki pyryalis the wabe. And hryukotali borogoves as myumziki to move. Oboysya Jabberwocky, my son, he is angry, svirlep and wild. And kusche rymit giant - zlopastny Brandashmyg. Bubuh-bubuh burns Nava, vzy-vzy strizhaet sword. VBA VBA and barabardaet head from his shoulders. About Radiant my boy, you won the battle. O frabjous praise thee I sing. Varkala. Slithy shorki pyryalis the wabe. And hryukotali borogoves as myumziki to move. This translation Zakhoder (or Harms?), And a poem called "Jabberwocky" (Jabberwocky). Once, I revisited the old demos, and my eyes came across a collection of LitleMusic 1-5 (namely _litle_), written by "hacker" GOTEF in 1993. And the third part was English version! Here it is: Twas brilling, and the slithly toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. Beware jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, The claws that catch! Beware the jubjub, and shun the jrumious brandersnatch! He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manhome foe he sought - So rested he by the tumtum free, And stood awhile in thought. And, as in uffish thought he stood, the jabberwock, With eyes of flame, came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with it's head He went galumphing back. And hast thou slain the jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! He chortled in his joy. 'Thas brilling, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. I remember I tried to translate it, even approaching Englishwoman in our institute, but that asking a person unable to translate the "Ye Olde";) Only through two years (in 1996), I compiled all these facts together. Another trick that is associated with the poems - read Russian version and look at others. Among my friends for 5 years only one knew the words and we have a couple of shocked;) listeners.
