I have always loved epigraphs, and lots of them. :) But in
In this case, I changed my tradition of accompanying with epigraphs
each key stage of its narrative, and the first stage of this
history that took place back in 1999 will be presented
banal and uncomplicated prose. :)
So, chapter one:
...in the beginning...in fact, the story began not even in 1999, but in 1997
year, when a group of then very green Dzerzhinsky stagers
got my hands on a five-inch flop with Spectrum
demos from Enlight'97 and was initially infected by the demoscene.
This disease, known to many of our readers, quickly
progressed in the minds of the above-mentioned people, and already in 1998
year, almost all of us were in Moscow at the Spectrum demo party
FunTop'98 with your works. You can talk about FT98
indefinitely, but this party is not the subject of this
report. :)
So, having returned from FunTop with a bunch of impressions, we were
determined to continue their activities in the demoscene. Alas,
FT98 became the only party made by the same organizers
(Wlodek, hi :), its successor was Chaos
Constructions'999. Even then the rules and concept of this party
raised doubts among many stagers and, asresult, in 1999
year we observed the first split in the Russian scene - in one year
several festivals were held at once - ss999, cafe99,
paradox99, and of course DI:HALT:99 (if I forgot anyone, sorry :),
of which DH99 was single-platform (Spectrum only)...

DH99 was organized practically from scratch by me, SLG,
Time Keeper and Bear (I am only listing those people who
were really busy organizing the demoparty, without at all detracting from
thanks to those people who provided the equipment: Zeebr, Uuts,
Leopart, etc.).
People who saw only one thing in person, far from the largest
demoparty, did not know how and could not do something like Assembly,
but determination and enthusiasm were abundantly enough to

I visited each of the listed ones personally, but all the time I it seemed like something was wrong. As it turned out during conversations with other stagers, it seemed not only to me, and so... From time to time various people who did not have time to submit their work on time (due to small the number of works sent in advance, the deadline as such was secretly canceled), which brought additional chaos to the work organizers HDD throwing compo, supported by the Nizhny Novgorod company "Service" hard drives" became one of the most spectacular and emotional events throughout DiHalt2OOS. Reputation DiHalt has been restored and preparations have begun for the next party - it will take place in the spring of 2006. There is an idea to conduct DH twice a day year, but it is still under discussion. Despite the little the number of works was something to see, not to mention unique atmosphere of the demoscene, the spirit of which we tried to save as much as possible. A lot can be said about the advantages and disadvantages of this or that another party. The disadvantages of DH2OOS can be acknowledgedthe following: - there really is a LITTLE amount of work. - as a result, large delays between components. - Spectrum emulator. the real Spectrum actually was connected to the projector, the problem arose due to the disk drive :( - lack of internet on partyplace. The demoscene is, whatever one may say, an underground phenomenon, and there is no need make this a super-major party like SS, where you can’t step step without the consent of the organizers. The main goal of the organization there are parties, there has been and there will be communication between creative people, stagers and capital letters. (c) Organism
