GOST 8.711-78 GSI. Forms for presenting measurement results.

1) Any measurement result is presented in the form:
   Q=(Qmeas +/- Dd) units; Rd
   Qmeas..measurement result
   Dd....confidence interval
   Рд....confidence probability

2)  The confidence interval is represented by one significant digit

 Consider an example:

 Let it be necessary to record the average value of PROTON's volume,
if you count all 47 issues.
    Since there are no exact data, let’s take any that will also work
for example.

    Let the average volume of text (estimate of mathematical expectation
of this size) - 33Kb. Let the estimate of the standard deviation of individual measurements be
9Kb.
    It is required to record the result according to GOST if the trust
the probability is 0.98.

1) Since partial absolute errors are unknown, it is preferable
We assume that there are no gross errors.

2)Estimation of standard deviation of mathematical expectation:
   RMSD=RMS/√(N)
   In this case N=47, therefore:
   SKOMO=9/√(47)=1.312785

3) Suppose that the random variable is distributed normally

4) Let's find the parameter "t" from the confidence probability:
   Рд=2∙Ф(t)->t
   Ф(t)=Рд/2
   Ф(t)=0.98/2=0.49
   Using the Laplace integral table we find t corresponding
   Ф(t)=0.49 -> t=2.33

5) Find the confidence interval:
   Dд=t∙SKOMO
   Dd=2.33∙1.312785=3.05879

6) We record the result according to GOST:
   V=(33+/-3.05879)Kb; Рд=0.98

 TOTAL: V=(33.0+/-3.1)Kb; Рд=0.98
