SHARP (Skinhead Against Racial Prejudices) started in New York
in 1987. At that time, the prevailing opinion in the press was that all skinheads
White-Power or Nazi.  This attitude was largely due to
thanks to the bourgeois tabloid press, which represented
skins, like pumped-up fascist thugs. Small group
skins and sympathetic punks decided to create a group working
in the form of a media machine that disseminates various messages about
that not all skinheads are the same, that we make different
ideals and beliefs, personal and political. SHARP members began
give radio and television interviews to spread your message,
which were initially perceived with distrust by the population with
brainwashed by the media. However, in most cases, members of this
a large group were greeted courteously, even if they
messages were often ignored. However, the main exception was
Geraldo Rivera show in 1988. During its recording, one of the assistants
John Metzer (son of KKK leader and head of the White Aryan
Resistance Tom Metzer threw a chair, breaking his nose in the process
Geraldo Rivera. After this incident, the media began to feel

were well known, held their own meetings, gave
interview.  Although the names of some of their organizations are still
popular all over the world, most of them went to local
history.    Some SHARP members began to create their own
sub-organizations dissatisfied with the nonviolence of the basic
SHARP ideas.  They thought fists were the best answer
hatred.  In the winter of 1989, after the creation of numerous autonomous
hotels around the world, the original organization dissolved.
There were several reasons for this; internal
disagreements, but the main reason was the sharp reduction
White-Power activity in New York.  Lots of White-Powers
left the city in search of a more hospitable political
climate, moving to the South and West. Many just grew up and
stopped publicly displaying personal beliefs.
