After writing the article "Instru-
Coder's ment "(SeePLATINUM N1)
and releasing it into the world, I got
there was new information on assembly
leram, but to my regret this
information concerns only com
computers with memory capacity not less than
less than 128 kilobytes.

So: just recently came to us at
Tomsk brought a huge pile of sa-
our various systems, among which
of which there were such new items:
MASMv1.2(512kb)
 ZX-TURBO ASSEMBLER v3.0(128kb)
TASM v4.0(XLD,128kb)
 STS v4.1(128kb)
After reading the Help for each new one
program, I am incredibly happy -
was.
Cool, new assemblers, and
each of them is faster than assembly
is what TASM v3.0.
After alarmed
my nerves calmed down a little, I
got tired of trying to do a little work-
in each of the editors and already
after a few minutes of work in
TASM 4.0 found a small non-
prosperity, which is a little spoiled -
til mood.
The length of the label should not exceed
ten bytes! This is very strong
restricts the names of the labels. After all,
the label needs to be more than just
mark, but carried some meaning,
therefore it should be
semantic ! (and ten letters
there is no point in investing
   easy.)
Okay, having discarded TASM 4.0, I decided
check for lice ZX-TURBO
ASSEMBLER v3.0
Its convenience shocked me, servi
just great. But everything is as we know
It’s worth something, yes worth it. About lengths
text in Help is written: length
about 30 kilobytes of text.
Okay, I'm loading the converter, which
ry must redo the text format
mat TASM v3.0 in ZX-ASMЗ format.
,mark the file in the required format
(length file is about 19' kilos.)
and start the conversion...
Half a minute passes and it beautiful
freezes.
Great?
Cool!
I launch the converter againfor
complete clearing of conscience, and conviction
I think that the converter cannot handle
work with files of such length.
For a full check, I reconverted
edited several smaller files
length and they worked great.
And this begs a sober question,
(hmm, on a drunken head (joke))
why... do we need such an assembler
with a defective converter!

This is where the disorder was in
almost maximum. But the most
something else was still waiting for me, and
it waited because I got caught
like a fool...
Having downloaded MASM v1.2, I found myself
like in TASM, but something not-
much more:Disk menu made-
lano is much more convenient. Yes, it works
nicer, more convenient, faster and very
easy to remake text from form-
taTASM v3.0.
Having solved the problem with assemblers, I
was able to go to bed with a pleasant feeling-
heartfelt.
The next day, I started finishing-
lay INTRO and download the text to
MASM, I started to bring it to mind
, after fiddling around until the evening, I still -
finally achieved his goal and calmly
went to bed (then I didn’t know that
this is just the beginning! )
The next morning the thought again
hit me on the head and I took it again
get to work.
And then at one fine moment
the text began to fail during assembly
roving.Wow...(oooppsss!)
After scrolling through the entire program, I did so
did not find reasons for glitches.
Okay, I'll reload the previous upload -
zky and check for assembly
tion: OK. I repeat the same steps
I set the end of the text in the buffer and re-
renoshy it is higher, and at the end of it
delete.
I start assembling and get
same unchanged result:
  * SYSTEM RESET *
That's it, however!
Beginning to analyze more detail
but I found a glitch in MASM.
When converting text fromTASM 3.0 in MASM 1.2 in text VK-
happy little mistake.
The essence of it is as follows:
The text is assembled normally and
works fine too. But when
viewing in 'EDIT' mode
assembler or freezes or skids-
is available (everything is the same, nice and okay)
In the future the glitch may pro-
failure and the program will not work -
to be assembled!

The result of my experimentation
became a tiny result, from
which I spent three hours on
rewriting (manually) text
program and for filling it in
TASM'e.
After more detailed research
Then I calculated the error:
When converting, length string
ki should not climb behind the screen!
Oh, this is a good editor!
I also researched STS 4.1 and
I found some nice glitches:
 In some menus, the only
output-CAPS+SPACE.
So in DISASM Mode with on-
pressing these buttons occurs
reset. The same happens in SETUP.
Another glitch:After disassembly

. STS hangs!

After all the torment with the New
Assemblers I will give a short re-
information on them specifically for the new
points:
TASM 4.0-incomplete compatibility-
  bridge with previous version
         The work speed is faster.
         Good version.
ZX-ASM 3.0-convenient service, ho-
High speed of operation.
 But files without their race
expansion, and they are hard to
         child found on the disk.
MASM 1.2is a good assembler, but
 speed in the mo editor
It would be nice to increase it.
 Very convenient LOAD menu
         and SAVE.
STS 4.1is a great thing, although
 and has a pairglitches, but
they do not interfere. Accelerated
   reading from disk, and entered
         disassembly mode
         to disk.

For those who have not read the article
" Encoder tool", I will repeat
one piece of advice (it’s a pity that sometimes I o
   I forget!)
TIP 1.When choosing an assembler, do-
think about the future and think
         Mav choose it on
maximum length
 term.
Remake texts from
 one editor to another
         you will be very happy
difficult.
Yes, and get used to different
         management is very un-
         easy!
