   Book review:
Wanderer T. A splash in silence. - Oldenburg: Siren, 2231. - 240 p.
----------------------------------------------------------------
The book "Splash in Silence", signed by a somewhat pretentious
under the pseudonym "Tim Wanderer", was published in a meager circulation for six months
yes back and quietly dispersed among lovers of quasi-historical re-
constructions and eschatological writings, having received practically no
responses in the press. The only exception I know of is the nerve-
remark from a representative of the Ludens group at the Institute of Research
space history: this group, they say, does not want to spend
their qualified efforts to refute the latest nonsense
around a problem that has long lost all attractiveness
"progressive activities of the Wanderers", because her groups had
and there are more serious and important things to do.
There is no doubt: speculation about the Wanderers is perceived now
perhaps as some indecent anachronism like flo-propaganda
histone or world ether. This topic has pretty much depreciated in the masses.
owl consciousness after the inglorious ending of the “Abalkin case” andwindows-
gradually slipped below the level of critical discussion during
on the Big Revelation, completely supplanted by worries about much more
household chores. The author, however, is well aware of this. Self
the title of the book is a line from the old haiku Basho about a still water
and a jumping frog. It seems very likely that this is a direct hint at pop-
a clear aphorism, as if we represent no more for the Wanderers
interest than a community of frogs in a quiet pond - for builders
a nearby dam.
Yes, the topic chosen by the author is odious. And yet, there is in this
something in the book that makes you relax so much at least while reading
successfully instilled in us immunity to talk about the influence of Wanderers
to Earth. In any case, this is exactly what happened to me.
The author says absolutely nothing about himself. (Note that
my attempts to clarify the identity of Tim Wanderer come to nothing.
led.) The text is preceded (without indicating the source) by the epigraph: “The essence
is that no one but us knew where the exit was, and even we
They didn’t know where the entrance was.” In the preamble of his work, T. Wanderer does

that can relate to the Wanderers, but the value of such sources
not too big for the author. Of course, writes Tim Wanderer, in

to a large extent from initial prejudices, tastes and temperament

difficult. How seriously can one (if at all) talk?
talk, for example, about the influence of the Wanderers on the formation of Islam in that
only on the basis that some mysterious minion of a certain Arabian
false prophet allegedly brought his patron into contact with higher
cosmic forces and was called Rakhal, that is, Stranger

The author does not dwell in detail on the incidents of the last century.
(like the story of Saul Repnin), although they may have some connection
to the topic of Wanderers, but not falling under the concept of their MAS-
OWL shares. He begins his main narrative with the events
hundred years ago, preceding the creation of the Galactic Council
some Security.
Before following T. Wanderer, I would like to do
a couple of comments. "Splash in Silence" compares favorably with similar
"reconstructions" by the absence of that external hysterical sensational
ity, into which the patriarch of this genre A. happened to fall.
Bromberg. The author does not abuse excessive vocabulary and avoids
biting epithets and pamphleteering: the text of the book is quite
close tostandardized language of ordinary scientific communication. Know-
a significant part of “Splash in Silence” is occupied by the necessary for author-
torus, but are unlikely to be very exciting for the general reader (who
which, however, the book does not have) a chain of logical constructions.
These constructions (sometimes, in my opinion, very witty, sometimes
sadly trivial) are designed to link new interpretations of long ago and
well-known facts with interpretations of little-known, but
still took place, as well as with information available only to
toru. Tim Wanderer, however, bluntly makes it clear that the matter
is explained not so much by general indifference and prejudice towards
topic of his searches. Nevertheless, links to sources of such information
rationations are often made by the author either incomprehensible or
extremely unconvincing: what is it worth at least to mention a certain cry-
Stallocopies of a certain secret memorandum, erroneously issued
through BVI to a completely stranger!
However, I will not talk much about flaws (involuntary or intentional)
sent) of the author's argumentation - let its good quality
assessed by experts. In the end, the most important and interesting
in the book - conclusions from the “investigation”, final recommendations

read. I will try to briefly outline fragments of those events
which, according to Tim Wanderer, occurred during the post-last century, which significantly influenced the modern history
riya of several inhabited worlds and which - who knows? - may yet
unexpectedly and threateningly resonate for humanity on Earth in the future.
So, how did all this really happen?
By the beginning of the 30s of the 22nd century, the problem of the Wanderers occupied,
perhaps only astroarcheology enthusiasts and enthusiastic teenagers
Tkov - lovers of adventure literature. Experts believe
whether this ancient and powerful civilization has left our borders
Galaxies (and possibly the Universe) hundreds of thousands of years ago, leaving
behind itself in a dozen planetary systems (including the Solar)
number of objects of material culture. Abandoned cities and satellites
ki were diligently examined, discovered artifacts - to the best of our ability
described, more or less successfully explained and submitted to the Museum of Extraterrestrial
nykh Cultures. No sensations were expected.
In November 1932, the management of COMCON-1 received an emergency
message from Veniamin Durov, head of the mission of earthlings to Tago-

and films, he was at one time comparable in popularity to Gor-
Bovsky, but only a narrow circle of specialists became aware of “Recording
ska about the Wanderers", classified immediately upon receipt by the Earth.
Having carefully analyzed information from many independent
Tagoryan sources, the resident of the Earth stated that some
livelyCOMCON-1's ideas about the Wanderers are erroneous and, moreover,
th - dangerous. There is every reason, wrote Durov, to consider the Wanderers and
to this day, actively operating in the Universe, although it has undergone
significant evolution by race. One of the Wanderers' goals may be
defined as replenishment of the ranks of one’s community due to the habitation
tels of intelligent worlds without their, the inhabitants, knowledge and consent.
The earth took action. She went to Tagore for two years (from 33 to 35)
a special multi-purpose group of the Contact Commission, which
included, among others, the outstanding star pilot and Pathfinder Leonidas
Gorbovsky and the rising star of xenology Gennady Komov. Coman-

COMCON-1 did not have room for some specific details,
who drew up a separate memorandum of the highest confidentiality -

coordination of actions of the Earth and Tagora to protect the planets from non-contact

Galactic Security simply could not help but think about

this means there was a chance to accurately identify objects of increased
the attention of the Wanderers. Rudolf Sikorsky joined the leadership of Miro-

in the reliability of your memories. Only four years later
The Galactic Security Council was presented with an official
a report on the events on Pandora, the fate of its aborigines and the culprits
nikah of this fate.
On Pandora, Sidorov wrote, there is a continuous biological war
war, which earthly observers do not perceive as war, but
the creature is not noticed at all. But this war itself is the result of an even greater
more serious events. Several decades ago, even before the advent of
of earthlings on Pandora, humanity there was artificial
divided by some external force into several completely dissimilar
now they are racing against each other. For selection, the decisive factor turned out to be
your affiliation. Most of the males, having been exposed
to some influence, quickly enough transformed into something
completely inhuman (presumably in the Wanderers) and
left the planet forever in an unknown direction. Female special-
bi after processing underwent completely different changes: remaining
on the planet and retaining their external human-likeness, they acquired a
a complex of unimaginable properties and abilities, moved to the part-
nogenetic path of reproduction, subjugated vast areas
jungle and essentially createdcompletely new, biological
civilization. Now these creatures (Sidorov called them “Amazon-
mi") managed to split into several opposing groups and
conduct among themselves the most real (albeit very strange from the point of view
from the perspective of an earthling) war of extermination.
Those who did not undergo metamorphosis for various reasons continued to lead

During the equally systematic liquidation of villages, it was unknown
where are some “night workers”. It is clear that with well-coordinated work
those "Amazons" and the primordial Wanderers who retain control over them
Pandora's civilization was doomed.
(The author also touches on other parts of the report that do not have a direct
relationship with the Wanderers. It’s wonderful, he thinks, that although the echo
ki of this story have nevertheless gone beyond the boundaries of the State Security Service, in oral and printed
stories about the adventures of a brave biologist on a terrible planet

The measures taken by Galactic Security on Pandora are almost
they didn't give anything. For a number of reasons, to carry out a complete quarantine

(percentage of “leaving” and “staying”, adhesion to gender, etc.
further) was attributed to particularities that did not depend on the intentions
wanderers, and from the biological and genetic characteristics of each specific
deep civilization.
All these assumptions were once again confirmed at the end of 49,
when Sikorski was just beginning to come to his senses after the incident
dent with "detonators". What happened, however, forced Chief Gala-
tic Security to forget about peace for a long time and even for some
time to take a break from the foundling business.
...The Progressors of the Earth came to Saraksh in the early 40s and among

seek reliable radiation protection. In search of such protection - by
own motives - the ruling elite of the country was also interested

...After several years, a certain thrice-tested and
unconditionally loyal technician (he is also an employee of the Galactic Be-
danger) was finally, in the form of special trust, admitted into the holy
saints - to preventive repair of replaceable field generators.
Tim Vanderer, according to him, heard about the details of the future
different, but one thing coincided: it turned out that there were a hundred and some basic parts
generators obviously could not be manufactured at Saraksha

walkie-talkies). Meanwhile, the entire system periphery and mobile emitters

reworking existing generators. The names of the “innovators”, co-
who, by the way, created the mobile emitters were found out, but the people
these, of course, have long been dead.
So, whythe original equipment was intended, according to many
signs of belonging to the same Wanderers? Considering that
and when re-adjusted, the generators gave a clear dispersion of the reaction

It seems that for the first time Rudolf Sikorski has a real chance

war, devastation and repression, now either in the corridors of power,
either among the legal "geeks", or in the underground, or in general
outside the territory controlled by the Unknown Fathers (eg

Sikorski insisted that all activities of earthlings on Saraksha be

Sikorsky's department - the Wanderers arose for some time

Since the late 30s, previously existing separate bioblotting procedures

The SGB was familiar with this from Pandora. Of course, there were some peculiarities:

It can be assumed, writes T. Wanderer, that the percentage of suitable

As a matter of fact, in the already familiar SGB scheme of action, Stranni-

as many imperfect humanoid races as possible to social
level of the Earth, the Wanderers must have felt an irresistible
the need to raise the maximum number of mind carriers to their,
Wanderers,biosocial stage.
The similarity with earthly Progression looked purely external
(it’s not for nothing that the author considers the very concept of “progressive
activities of Wanderers"): there is acceleration and relief of natural
fundamentally the current social evolution, here - not only cool
a turn in the biological evolution of the species, but in fact already the beginning of a NEW
evolution, which has only the appearance of cause and effect from the previous one

permanent cessation of the flow of human history, cessation of sa-
possible existence of mankind, whose safety he was called upon

Returning home, Sikorski began to strengthen the earthly

considers, of course, just another particular manifestation of all those

lo. In essence, it could not be otherwise, writes the author: the inhabitants of the quiet
reservoirs are unlikely to worry about their fate for a long time because of one
new frog that left the pond, albeit endowed with many new
properties and skills. And if this analogy offends someone, then
the same thing can be formulated differently: hundreds and even thousands

Everything is in order. The Ludens are gone. Humanity remains.
   But the Wanderers remained too!
