HARD and SOFT - Scorpion, IS-Dos, Winchester ...

   Read in the eighth room Format'a the difficulties faced
users of the IS-DOS when working with
HDD (hard drive). In this regard, I want to share some of their 
experiences. 

   I use a computer Scorpio-256T +
(ProfPZU-128 v.4.01) with the hard disk of 540
MB and IBM AT keyboard, connected via appropriate controllers

Sound). 

   First I put a cheap hard drive
Seagate ST157A to 42 MB, which does not support LBA mode and in 
the identification of parameters gave 560/6/26, but when 
testing report errors ranging from 18 sectors and throughout 
the 6-th side. After trying to manual mode, several options

text, images, code blocks, @ Files, packet MUSIC (resident 
player background music), bag RECLAM SHOW, HELPER (automated 
system for user training) and more (programs CHOOSE and DEV, 
serving up to 8 devices are functioning properly, but the system

normally works assembler, but I prefer to keep it on a separate 
device.

   Reconfiguring the system to run a program is

keep it on a floppy disk. 

   I want to warn that attempts to
reboot from the hard disk command

   Running the program on your hard drive SPEED_DISK leads to 
even more disastrous results, and save anything is unlikely 
succeed.

   Dimensions 2 ... 10 MB, everything works as it should be!

   Download the desired system is made
hard drive with a disk image TR-DOS, which recorded images of 
memory systems for 6 devices (as described in the instructions 
to the controller SMUC) and simple menus on BASIC.


   The same can be done for the HDD is connected via a 
controller Nemo, only reboot the system with the Is-Dos disk 
commands:

   Here I wish to notice that when trying to
development of devices for more than 60000 blocks program 
CREATE, even if you delete all the residents and drivers 
(except of course Driver HDD), an error 130 (not

Out of memory). For the same reason to use the program to fix 
ARZT card device - is preferable to ARZT + (more so that the 
regime of compaction on large devices are not working).


   About the optimal size of the device - I can say that speed 
is not depends on its size and, in the case of Scorpio, as it 
is, the better, especially if you are working with texts and do 
not intend to destroy them. 

   When working in the Is-Dos'e - devices A and
B are reserved for floppy drives, C and D - a Winchester, E - a 
RAM disk. 

   Text files are best edited by
el. disk, because If when accessing HDD
will be pressing the space bar (SPACE), and this often occurs 
in the mode of DOC, an error message 1920 (BREAK), and if you 
fell out of the editor, you lose some text. Apparently this is 
because when accessing the HDD is not locked keyboard (as 
opposed to recourse to the drive). 

   The case of various emergencies
recommend to keep on disk backups of all system devices.

   Also highly recommend 3.5
FDD. He's worth a year now and I've never
