  In general, there was a most unpleasant case of Cyril - was 
dead modem (Vicomm), and he came to me (AM) to revive ... 


  Enabled, the computer line
(Telephone) and got an interesting result: nobody knows who 
started to shoot us tube.



  Vicomm was disconnected and the computer was
no power!


  After an hour of persistent thoughts Xtr-modem was pulled 
from the connector and postponed side.



  And what happened? Tube down!


  There was the question "Why?"

 After ten minutes of experimentation revealed: Xtr responds to 
a table lamp! 


  How?? (Another twenty minutes thinking ...)


  Soon it became clear that, when one of the two optical chip 
modem lifted the receiver!



  Modem responded even to a weak lantern!


  Experience in the capping of the chip with three or four 
layers of blue tape does not return any results! 


  Along the way, was proposed by the dialing mode using a 
flashlight and fan computer is not needed!



  Dmitry Lomov advises: Keep Xtr-modem into a dry and dark 
place!
