 French girls do it too

Western stagers don’t often indulge the #amigarus channel with their
visit. But today Clary/Drifters herself visited here! No,
This is not a mistake, it’s just “visited”! Yes, yes, clairy, who painted
graphics for the famous Amiga demo "Paradisio" in Russia
refers to the fair half of humanity. Moreover, this
the girl, despite 8 years of stage acting experience, is not susceptible to
"star sickness", and kindly agreed to give an interview for
"Amiga Today":

handle: clary (real name Claire, and she owes her nickname to
grandmother, who called her granddaughter that way)
date of birth: 03/02/1973
favorite game on the Amiga:Twintris, Superfrog
favorite demo: too many, each has something of its own
favorite demo group: Melon, respects for design and fresh ideas

- In your country they know me from Paradisio, but in fact
Drifters have written a total of about 50 demos and programs. From
those works in the creation of which I took part, fame
also received demos of Disco and Black and White. For Paradisio I
made animation in Deluxe Paint, wrote a tracker mod, and
also some assembly code.

-- What exactly did you write in assembler?
-- It was an animation player. Of course I'm cool
There is no programmer available, but the demo works.

-- So it’s not MRZ, but just a 4-channel module,
why are the graphics so slow?
-- Where does it slow down? On the a1230 everything works as it should. We are like this
and they intended it to be somewhere around 10 frames per second.
The animation is in a resolution of 640x512, so we needed
keep an eye on the size of the demo.

-- Okay. Let's take a short excursion into history. How is it
you, girl managed to “infiltrate” the scene?
-- Firstly, there is no need to attach much importance to the fact that I
girl. (By the way, there was another girl coder in France -
Zeugma, but, in my opinion, she has already left the stage). It's nothing
changes. Well, as for how it all began, it seems
this was in 1993. A friend showed me the demos, it made a difference
great impression. At that time I had an Amiga5O0. I started
engage in swapping demos. Well, I continued playing with toys
play. Twintris was my first hit back then.

-- What was the name of your first group?
-- Drifters, it so happened that in my city lived one of
members of this group. Then I was in Nova, Axis, Crux, but
Now I’m back at the beginning again. Drifters in my heart ;)
By the way, the history of Drifters began long before me, somewhere in
'88. Between '88 and '94 they released several demos,
in which there was much more code than with me :)

-- What does the stage mean to you?
-- Amiga, the stage is my passion. My stage friends are
like-minded people. I spend so much time a day on the Amiga,
as far as possible. There's hardly a day when I don't
turned on my computer. By the way, my friend also has something to do with
stage - his nickname -Fury, he is a DialHard BBS sysop.

-- What kind of computer do you have?
-- Fury and I have two a4000s with 040 and 060, but my favorite car is
a1230. I don't have a PC. To be honest, I don't understand much about this
platform :)

-- What will we see from Drifters in the near future?
-- We are preparing a new demo for Mekka&Symposium'2002. Nothing yet about
I won’t tell it, and I won’t share a screenshot from it.
Just be sure it will be in Drifters style! For her
A1230 is suitable for viewing. By the way, the soundtrack for it is written
Russian musician Xpeh. (Previously known for his work for
Looker House - approx. grunge) Regarding the state of our
group, I can say that we recently lost five members.
But this is explained by the fact that the scene is now becoming smaller and smaller
less, people work, start families.

-- By the way, what do you know about the Russian scene?
-- A little. I have seen several European works about Russia -
juliet and Case CCCP Demo. And from real Russian releases I can
remember magazines from Looker House, cracks from Rampage, something from
Push.
