SCENERS
again a willful translation (: Original - in the writing magazine Hugi
24, "Female Computer Entities - a little more." The article was
written as a continuation of Optimus's article, which was
printed in the same Hugi, only earlier - in the 21st issue. K
Unfortunately, my free Internet practically does not function, but
Wrecker is ready to release body at least every day (at least about women
thought, bastard!). So an article about the sceners from the 21st Hugi
my performance (: you will see later - but that’s okay, because
what does Variat write at the beginninghis article, he knows more
stage girls than Optimus (:
I'm on PC and C64, so I know some of the girls there. No,
if you search, you can find a lot of gamers/users, but I decided
stop only at the stagers. I'm mainly a swapper (and also
graphician/cover-artist), so I know swappers more, although
not only.
So, PC. I don't have much to say here, but... I can tell you
about SweetVoice, the first stager I ever heard of. I
I found her pretty decent article (about why there are few
girls) in the legendary Polish magazine Bad News #4 (N: by the way,
As soon as I get a decent internet connection, I’ll read it). She was
swapper and I'm not sure if she's doing this now. Many
they say that they met her at some copy-parties. Other
girl - Snappy Dog (Alicja Zbrog) - a real swapper. From
Poland. Now, unfortunately, she is out of work, but for several years
ago I corresponded with her, and I must say, she was
a really good swapper in those times when the usual
(snail-mail) mail was common in the PC scene. She
corresponded with 50-60 people, and wrote letters somewhere around 30-40
kilobyte! She was truly a pleasure to deal with. She was
active from 1996 to 1998, maybe a little longer. I had a photo, but
died withold screw.
Apart from these two, I don’t know anyone else on the PC, but on the C64 -
I know much more. Many pisishniks think that the commodore is dead
- but that’s not great. Of course the scene is no longer what it used to be
years ago, but there are still a lot of active people, again
Old sceners who once left the platform are returning. These
maniacs are still making new games, programs, releasing stage
products and, of course, engage in swapping. Now I'll tell you about
all the swappers (and not only) that I have ever heard of on
Commodore.
In 1991 - in my opinion a great year for the Commodore scene -
There were, it seems to me, 2 active swappers. These were
Andrea/Varsity (AUSTRIA) and Active/??? (SWEDEN). Not sure
how long were they active, but they were definitely still doing
swap in 1993, and maybe in 1994 or something like that, left
stage. Another girl - Black Widow/Gothic Designs (her name is
Michelle, she's from AUSTRALIA!). She was not only a swapper but also
organizer in your own group (Gothic Designs). Swap
worked in 1993 and 1994. In 1994 in some C64 diskmags
it was possible to find the address of the swapper The Mistress/Entropy (Elvira Van
Dam, NETHERLANDS) and Andromeda/Conquistadores (Grazyna Walczak
from POLAND), I don’t know how long they were active. Scene
became less and less, but in 1996 activity increased in Poland,
Czech Republic andSlovakia. I only know girls from Poland who
engaged in swapping in 1996-1998 (some more, some less):
Cobra/Fraction (Katarzyna Dabrowska), Simone/Shelters (Anna
Zazula), Dool/ind. (Anna Marchwiak), Nicole/Attic (Agnieszka)
Budzicka), Lady Di/??? (Agnieszka Pietryga). Back in 1996
Starlight/Arise (Ann Kristion Nordaas from NORWAY) appeared.
Optimus mentioned Starlight/Extacy in his list of sceners, but I
I'm not sure if this is the same Starlight (I think not). How
and that’s it, she was a swapper and is not active now.
Then 1999. Panica/P.o.L./Sanity. She was a swapper, we are from
one group (P.o.L. - People Of Liberty). She stopped
swapping in 2000. Then there is Silver Star/Anubis (Mariska
Voskuil from NETHERLANDS). Stopped swapping in February 2001.
Wednesday/Banshee (Alexandra Beusching from GERMANY). Both -
Silver Star and Wednesday - we also drew the covers, so
they can also be called cover-designers (or, in other words,
paper-artists). There is also Ernie/Anubis/P.o.L. (Denise
Hurley from GREAT BRITAIN), the only active C64 swapper on
today. I correspond with her, she writes beautiful
letters, about 20 people correspond with her, and I really
It's nice that I know such a stager like her! There's another one
active girl on the Commodore scene, but she is not a swapper. This
Icegirl/Role (BELGIUM). She is married (as I heard from many
sceners) for Commander/Role. They take care of their group's business
(Raiders of the Lost Empire) and Arachnophobia magazine. Remaining
mention 2 more girls - Mercy/Triad and Xerr/Triad. Nothing about
I don’t know them, but they were 100% Triad members -
really cool commodore band. I can't do anything
talk about their stage specialties.
As you can see, I have listed about 20 stagers and almost all of them are not
business Besides those C64 girls I've heard about, there's another one
- this is Mermaid/Crest, I already wrote about this cool girl
Optimus. I’ll add on my own that she’s really talented,
I wish there were more sceners like this!
Of course there were more girls on the C64, but it's 2.30 so...
Sorry if I didn't remember anyone. I hope you liked it - I did
I had to tinker to collect all this information.
