Enlight'97 - Report of the last Demo Party.

  Visitors from other cities began to arrive as early as 
Thursday, and Friday evening for the people already in the

the next day, Saturday, when was scheduled opening party, and

broken all records, exceeded all expectations, particularly all 
expectations. And this despite the almost complete silence of 
the computer press, despite the fact that the invitation on 
Enlight'97 came just two weeks before the festival starts!

spekovskie demomeykery and in our country and abroad. I hardly

much mistaken if I say that in the first
day, before opening the doors had gathered

spektrumisty. Later people came
and went, and despite the fact that even
roughly estimate how many guests attended the party in two 
days, it is hardly possible, venture to suggest that this

beer, well, or lemonade, all in anticipation of a grand 
celebration ... 


  And now - the long awaited opening of doors,

in a stuffy room. Weather on the street - first class: the sun, 
a light breeze carrying a cool and refreshing face temperature 
- degrees 20 ... And most importantly - beer! Yes ... Once 
again, the nearby stalls and shops, as well as grandmothers

  The room was on the fourth floor

with the adjacent coffee bar and toilet. Also

  On the stage hung a curtain that shuts the judging panel from

  In the center of the stage (behind the curtain, of course) 
were two of Spectrum, a typical color monitor and a small black

organizing team led by Peter
Sobolev. They introduced themselves and told
people about the difficulties experienced in preparing 
Enlight'a this year, expressed appreciation on behalf of all 
guests and participants of the compo sponsors, after which 
under even stronger applause retreated backstage. It was a 
deserved reward for all the difficulties faced by children on 
the long road preparation of the festival. It was the peak,

which overnight transformed into an abyss the next day ... 
However, about all in order.



  The event took place and the official beginning of the 
reception of Enlight'a Works on all types of compo, as 
spekovskie, and pisishnye and Amiga. Appeared on the stage

representative of the firm Peters, more precisely, one
of its directors. On all monitors Facilities
was able to witness the almost ready computer
Sprinter. We have already written on the pages of this ZxNews 
Spectrum-compatible computer, all the computer community, 
guests from other cities finally were able to see firsthand its 
capabilities. After a brief story about Sprinter'e, a 
representative of Peters continued dialogue with the people 
already around the scene. Much later, in between Amiga demo 
components, the floor was given to Vyacheslav Nemo, which is a

Well, soon came to Sergei Zonov obviously pre-prepared for the 
upcoming "debate." At least its accurate and breaking all the 
arguments KANO responses talked about how that this time the

at videotape from last Enlight'a). By the way, this 
conversation, which lasted more than an hour, was recorded on

  Since I started talking about the video, I note

  Display of the best demos at the Spectrum, Amiga,
PC, Amiga components - all flown almost
unnoticed. People got to know, ran for a beer, smoking on the

tired of the monotonous music in Amiga demos, came the Spectrum 
components. As in the past year, the first schedule, then 
music, and finally - best of all - the demo.



  Number of entries is striking:
164 pictures, 83 Mouzon, 17 demonstrations!
And this is considering how much unfinished at
any reason demos. For example, the beginning of the 
Spectrum-demo demo com X-Trade'ov was prepared by 90% and demo 
by Virt group was "in transit" at Enlight, but never managed to 
get there on time. As for the demo by Phantasy, they planned it 
"Glue" in St. Petersburg, but the drive is messed up of all the 
sources ... Someone could not come, someone did not have time 
to finish their DeMouy, but even that was enough to excess. 
Such amount of work is not expected Nobody, neither the 
organizers nor the participants themselves. Is it possible to 
appreciate the 164 pictures? Or listen to 83 Mouzon, and select 
the three best? At the expense of music - a special subject, 
but the graphics! Above all praise! Of course, there were 
apparently unsuccessful work, but how many masterpieces! Yes, no

extinct more artists to our land.
Spectrum is still alive, and grew up on it a new
generation, which is not the word but in deed proves what it 
can. 


  At this year's demo compo was presented a demo of the Czech 
team K3L. Almost from the early morning before the start of the 
demo components, Czechs, together with the X-Project'om, 
adapted it to TR-DOS. Had time yet, and foreign demo

from abroad was first introduced to the competition. 
Unfortunately, and not were able to show a demo of 
Novocherkassk in lyrical title "AMIGO" - spoken several 
versions of why it works in Scorpio and not working at the 
Pentagon, at which it ran on Enlight'e. Two

the most plausible: not painted table interrupts or improperly 
installed jumper on the drive, as a consequence What worked 
correctly loader. By the way, the second version given by the 
authors themselves, who claimed that their Pentagon deme was 
without problems. Well, time will tell - for the reduction of

amizhniki watched all the gfx-compo to the end, clapped 
together another masterpiece or laughed at explicit lazhey.

the account that a lot of amused audience. Sometimes a hacker

scenes and corrected his mistakes, the truth however faltering 
voice. :) 


  By the way, spekovskuyu schedule shown on the Amiga (Amiga 
was good easier to connect to ptsshnym monitors and the quality 
was better), and the role of DJs who spun it to the people, 
alternately played Max Iwamoto (MaxI / CB) and Max Romanov 
(RML). 


  A little break, and now announced
Home Spectrum Musick components. Hmm ... It
was probably the biggest fly in the ointment in a vat of honey 
under the name Enlight'97. Despite the fact that the equipment

Spectrum Music, yes it is, he was

first Mouzon caught very beautiful and well-written, taking 
into account, so to speak, the specifics of the party, and even 
in this form he is remembered (Together with another two or 
three), because it is the first Mouzon man behind the board

decided to experiment and try
even for just a little to bring the sound in order. This is a 
"tidying up" going on in the first eight Mouzon on during which 
in turn spektrumisty went backstage and expressed self-styled 
DJ'yu all thinking about him. Believe and so it is clear that 
these were simply Mouzon corrupted. Finally to pisishnika 
realized that would be nice to try to unscrew the high and

add bass. And it is (weird, huh?) Has finally borne fruit: the 
sound was just the way to him and to be. And given the good 
machine, all sounded even very nice. And what we heard, when

sound had been got up? Some kakafoniyu, composed, apparently, a 
very novice musicians (gently so to speak). It is not clear, 
WHY is put on Enlight? Expected fame it will bring,

but a lot of expletives in the direction of, uh,
"Composers" - this indefinitely.
Poor ptsshniki ... Their ears, spoiled
AWE32/64 GUS'yami and rolled into a tube. Folded back and 
pisishniki themselves. By the end of the Spectrum-music-compo 
in the hall of their almost gone, and they did not see

spekovskie demos. A spektrumisty "obfakany" in many fidoshnyh 
lokalke and ehah. Who from this easier? Do not know how to 
write music - there is nothing to be thrust at Enlight, even 
despite the fact that the accepted work on all comers. But 
there must be at least some criteria, although some 
self-esteem? Why is this "author" thinks before only about 
themselves and not for others, not about platform?



  But that's out of the gray and faceless masses
music provided one Mouzon. Mouzon MIC'a.

Spectrum to the end. One of the few Mouzon, who was pleased 
originality, originality and beauty samples. This

Mouzon clearly would have been one of the candidates for
victory. Would have been ... Ah, but first things first.

work ...".

somewhere around fifteen! The musicians, whose turn had not yet 
approached, one by one again began to catch up with behind the 
scenes ... And then reveal the truth, the sad truth: over the 
time allotted for Musick components. Hmm ... It is known to 
many not immediately able to digest, and only gradually came to 
realize that their Mouzon "shows" not be. Sincerely sorry for 
those guys who traveled from other cities (and even countries), 
and remaining on the sidelines. Sincerely sorry for those 
masterpieces (and they certainly have), which not scrolled, 
which were literally overwhelmed by the enormous amount of 
sludge frank who made the most of 83 exposed Mouzon.



  As a result, unanimously adopted
decision not to take stock of Spectrum
Music and declare that the component was not held. Although, of 
course, all the work (in manner of delivery of the jury) will 
be launched together with graphics and demos.
