Iron - history of connecting a Hayes modem in Ufa.

MSD #11

        Now a little history...

It all started when a guy came to me with two
boards on 174YH4A, which we hooked up to the tape recorder port
on. Before that, there were a couple of articles in magazines and ordered in some
someone's cooperative wiring diagram for some kind of gadget, under
called "Modem for ZX".

Of course, nothing worked out for us, but the fact itself is praised
it lasted for a long time. After there were several diagrams that I saw, but
due to the lack of software and programming experience, they remain
went unnoticed. But in vain - there were some very good re-
sewing.

Then there was a short break, during which I
tried to use pieces of AOHobckux circuits, but no results
it was. Then a modem diagram appeared in Spectrofon magazine,
for playing Steward via modem. At the same time, we finally
they chained Sinclair to the caller ID. And as a result, I had Spectro-
Fon's version, and my friend's is AON's. We found a program
under Tape Modem and things were in full swing. This is the first time we have spoken
using a computer, and not just any computer, but a Speccy. We
downloaded files, albeit at a speed of 1800 baud, but then it would be
lol very cool. I still remember when we broadcast Satisfacti-
on, ZX-FORMAT'1... I even tried to write software for this
type of modem, but in the end I realized that it has no special
prospects.

More and more attracted by the idea of connection with pussies and ongreater speed. So a standard had to be chosen and
this standard became HAYES. So I started working in this
direction, read the literature, asked people, and so...
Volume 96 I got my first modem - Faylin 1200 without
protocols. Now this is of course funny (for Kharkov), but for
the introduction was not entirely bad, even very good. And
So I started developing a modem connection interface, fortunately
By this time, I began to understand electronics relatively
ok. And finally everything was assembled and turned on and, like
It always doesn't work out the first time.

After wasting two days, everything worked so well that I even
I was surprised how it could not have worked before. This banner is
The actual date is September 7, 1996.

In the evening of the same day I contacted the pisish BBC for the first time and
everything I read and heard about BBS suddenly appeared in front of my
eyes, and, as they say, I felt the steepness of the phenomenon. Into this
for a while I used some kind of terminal written for BBS1, but I
I doubt that the author wrote it for a really working mod-
ma, because there were several glitches that we had to work with
was absolutely impossible. I fixed it, improved it a little,
I added exchange protocols and thoroughly enjoyed the work. But
the question arose about improving quality and this was the right time
By the way, a graphics expansion scheme to 512x192 mode. This is it
there was a real buzz from the work, especially when I saw the
BBC's ratesmode 85 characters per line, that is, without breaking
lines - how it SHOULD BE. After that I added support
ANSI, YMODEM protocol, a bunch of modes and are still used to this day
I'm itching.

An interface scheme has also now been developed that provides
connection of any ISA card to a sinclair, that is, a multi-
tyahu, internal modem, etc. Also absolutely calm
connects a screw, a mouse, normal flops. Also at that time,
as soon as I released the diagram of my interface, it became...
we know about one more Kharkov development, which is true
not worth attention at all, at least for the fact that the modem ports
available by mask #FFFD This development was notorious
under the name "Shepelevskaya scheme" ...
