BeeOS - brief description. Part 1 After studying and analyzing all operating systems, which exist for Zx-Spectrum,i came to the conclusion that all good projects "bent" at the stage of conception, and not very much and practically were not born at all! Let's take for example, OS MythOS is a great start, but the authors did not finish the job. This many interesting ideas have been put into the system, It's a pity that it didn't come to fruition. IS-Dos - old system, good support drivers, but lack of multitasking and GUIs don't do it well attractive... The idea of creating BeeOS is such that people (primarily users Beta Disk interface) wants normal multitasking OS with normal GUI and driver system for all existing cars, which is currently moment does not exist (Doors are not an example). My personal opinion is that if develop an OS, then you don’t need to write it specifically under Beta Disk,a attach drivers for other disk interfaces (for example, for our Western friends), and also include support for formats .z80 and .sna. There is also a problem with launching TR-Dos programs for the OS! Her I I think I can solve it by writing a virtual machine (in plans, if the OS develops, you can will write virtual for others disk interfaces), but this requires significantly larger resources and memory than available in the main computer park in Russia (Speccy 128, 3.SMhz ), and the car you will probably need something like Speccy 256/512, 7.OMhz, but this is still in future. Currently the system has implemented multitasking (almost the same as in MythOS), almost entirely written GUI (but not yet matured even to the alpha version :)), memory drivers have been written for the main cars (Scorpion, Kay, Profi, Pentagon), several drivers for printers, in progress driver development for Smuc with support appropriate resolution, driver hard drive under Scorpion (about methods I don’t remember connections on other machines, help, send your solutions!). Also We are in full swing developing our own file systems (BeeFS),which is planned will support drives up to 2GB as Fat16 (although I had an idea as the main FS use exactly that!). Already written several applications for this OS (text editor with graphical fonts, utility for working with hobeta and Trd files, a simple text viewer and graphic information (including files format BeeWord )(Ivan Roshchin, no desire write Best View under BeeOS? Alpha version just around the corner!), editor adapted Art Studio (which works in multitasking mode!) as well as a simple commander Explorer). But for now the system is working leaves much to be desired... So for now I that I don’t even release a demo version! In the next part I will describe the structure system and kernel, how it will work (will it happen at all? :)). (C) 2003 Alex Freud And here I come, SEEENS,with my comments Tariyami. ;( Alex Freud stated his point well opinions about some OSes, even about the same MythOS,which was lost somewhere there - in the past...:( But won't BeeOS suffer the same fate? Alex he himself has not yet answered this question. I was wondering and didn’t (I hope) ask myself this question, as he said, it’s too early anything to say, everything will be said upon completion of the full version, and so if the alpha version is just around the corner, then that's it, what you need to see in it, we hope we'll see... But about the next part, let's do it wait! It will be very interesting to know Alex's thoughts about this OS, and I hope next time we will see the article here BeeOS part 2... Please think about given thought and write responsesor yours thoughts on this topic, I think that Alex Freud will be interested to know what what users think about this... SEEENS/DnieproBite
