Bytefall - a report on the visit.

   Visit nespektrumovskoe party has prompted me to look

   Report on the first day Bytefall'a I scribbled in a hurry 
for a reason, clear from the report itself, but now something 
to me did not want to it strongly alter (always difficult to 
write about something for a second time !)...

   Saturday, February 27, 1921 hour, 30 minutes, streets of

   A short explanation of the situation, minute study of maps 
of Moscow, spread out on snow-covered hood of the trunk, and

the people of new information, as in the street there is a

   Announced schedule on Sunday: "Gathering at 11 am
at the "Cinderella" at Novosuschevsky Street, Building 26,

everyone will be able to disperse home. Fate brought the first

      Bytefall - Day Two


   Disco-club "Cinderella" at Novosuschevsky was not so close
from the subway (not even close), also in the area on Feb. 28 
held a rally, as a result I'm on the road on foot to the club 
first got into the police (in Moscow, "black" does not like to 
definition), but there figured out quickly and politely, and I 
do not even missed the beginning ... entrance to the club. In 
the lobby I was immediately spotted Visual / Magic Soft, came 
up and somehow sad asked: "Do not you recognize me? .." This is 
what I so did not know? ;-) I was delighted and, of course, 
recognized him! Maybe he thought I would not be happy? Those 
guys! AND this is true, that would somewhere someone may say! 
... So, it was first on Bytefall-th meeting, which both 
recognized each other;). 



   Since the Festival uzhalsya until one day admission ticket 
fell to 50 rubles. With "fifty dollars" in his fist, I followed 
Serega leaked through the "doorway" of the detector, followed by

polite security guard has examined each incoming handheld. Of 
the weapons when I was only a camera:), so I calmly "Welcome" 
inside. After parting with fifty dollars, got my hands on a

nominations. Contrary to the vague assumptions, on the other

Presidential Palace, and found a cozy little room with a bar

eyes are accustomed to the dim light darkened room, could be

   Meanwhile, a team of organizers hung in the hall of a wide 
screen projector. Find the place suitable for spectators, and 
to accommodate the projector and screen for the suspension was 
not easy, as terribly expensive bourgeois technology - video - 
did not have such a simple and useful device, as the lens the 
zoom lens, allowing one movement hand scale projected image. 
BezZOOMny lens gave too big picture. The screen then outweighed 
to the scene, the image fit on it completely, but the room was 
not as worse fit for the observation screen - Facilities was 
with the columns. Several additional monitors in the hall would 
have prevented, but they were not. In any case this is not a 
rebuke to the organizers, since the fact of a successful search 
another room in less than a day instead of the tax police 
sealed - IMHO, feat. 



   People in the room was a hundred, maybe even less. Everyone 
sat in silence alone or in groups of two or three people. There 
was no the lively dialogue that he felt no unity. Sergei was

E'97. Call his Stanislav, and he brought a competitive work in 
the nominations for BC-0011. In SpbZxNet it is not because they 
do not spektrumist, but networks are interested. About Moscow 
ZXNet I told him honestly, I know firmly only that it exists 
and operates successfully:). I wished every success Stas ... 


   Initially spun past demos - just for the background. Demos 
were mostly Amiga. All pinned deme with dancing baby animals -

pure animation, but it is! On-demand viewers this DeMouy then 
scroll again. Classical same demos attracted attention by the 
presence of whole, pass-through of the plot, whether it be a 
nuclear war or ecological disaster ... Computer art is fighting 
the evils of this world along with other, older, muses, and 
makes it understandable for the audience. Epoch bravirovaniya 
technical effect is clearly rooted in the past; for 
tehnoeffektov were included contests intro for every taste and 
size. 

   By the time the first competitive show people in the room 
focused directly in front of the stage, moving back comfortable 
sofas and wicker chairs and formed a small pit. Only with this 
"Piglet" columns do not interfere with the review. True, this 
place the most heavily irradiated with ultraviolet lamps, 
disco, fancy clothes and the audience shone twilight. Along 
with the clothes shone and forms for voting that it is even 
useful (do not know how healthy:)). After a brief greeting 
organizers began a competitive display of works.

   I will not describe in detail the work itself, as all the 
same most of them are available for viewing or listening

on the Spectrum (except that mod-s - for General Sound-e). I 
was very pleased with the wise subdivision, the alternation of 
works of different genres: after each big demos a break for 
five minutes or ten; graphic works were shown at the tender 
music, and while playing music demonstrated the competitive 
picture - voting in favor of a nomination, it was possible to 
simultaneously adjust to the perception of the work of another 
genre. In my opinion, this is good: made in this way in the 
revival of some still tiring monotony of the flow of images or 
stream Mouzon might well be considered a good solution of the 
problems faced by the music contest on Fantope - problems all 
the same tiring. And if you interfere with a parallel 
demonstration to focus on the evaluation of entries - please do 
not watch or listen to "superfluous", no one there does not 
make:). Simultaneously, a parallel show solves the problem of 
two-time demonstration of work - the first time to introduce a 
second time for evaluation. I guess it's worth fuck in mind for 
future organizers of the Spectrum party. (Again looking ahead, 
it should be noted that when all definite plus slow, measured 
pace Bytefall-and not allowed to show all work - for 
BC-competitions are not enough time :-( (. Ah, my boy from St. 
Petersburg ...). 

   The music and graphics were pre-selected papers, dropped 
out, of course, part of both. Schedule was divided into a paint 
"3D-rendered", which is completely understandable, and music - 
on the traditional and alternative, where to catch the 
distinction I was harder:). Some of the same part of the public 
to recognize these differences instantaneously, and reiterated 
that, at FunTop-e has caused in his time sensation:) - dancing 
in the middle of the room. 



   Subject handmade pictures inclined to fantasy and
"Horror", as well as erotic fiction, and when to display the 
"painted oil" landscape (well, just like "Polesie-1" on FT98), 
the audience greeted him with a slight laugh. Generally in the 
room was silent, even such holy spells like "Rulez" and "Must 
die", sounded just a couple of times, and then only weakly. 
MIC, KSA, XPEh occasionally strolled around the room, with 
someone talking in a low voice ... At the scene, none of 
viewers was bursting. Was not noticeable, and "press." Well, 
for myself and shot a photo and on the video - one or two 
people. 

   If a picture tolerated skonvertyatsya format Spectrum - 
chegonibud very good at shoving Nicron. Voting exclusively

a tiny little window near the ceiling and looking through the

pre-selection, but the quality varied greatly. Judge how just a

them from amizhnikov, or vice versa:)). I'll ask the 
authors:)))! 

   ... The audience was resting in a chair, the festival lasted 
between tables and sofas, white swans cruised to the waitress 
;-) with smiles on duty, removing filled ashtrays and replacing

them on the freshly ... No other dish they did not have to 
clean up as aristocratic (which in the bar) prices scared away 
all the hungry and needy, and bring with them was impossible. 
But it seems not even whether such obstacles, it is unlikely to 
Bytefall-e poured to the river of beer, so characteristic of 
familiar events. Towards evening a smile gradually disappeared 
from the lips of the bar employees, and eventually one of them 
even quite abruptly asked sitting at one of the tables to make 
room. We (I was among those evicted) immediately sat back 
again, then the "stewardess" in silence planted on the table 
table: "Table booked." We have moved cautiously closer to 
passage, since a precise meaning to the words on the label 
could be worse than thought ;-)). But the killers and did not 
appear ;-)), as, incidentally, and they planned the victim).

the toilet (!). Oh, it was inexpressible contrast with the 
sleepy "idyll" room! Another would be writing on the wall - and 
would be complete Enlight'97 ;-)! The impression is that the 
people calmly and quietly slipped in the "institution" and 
there from the heart "broke away". More precisely, the detached 
(and roll tape on the floor) "soft paper" from the rolls,

urinal. Toilets were in a good condition ... Wads of chewing 
gum decorate the walls and especially the mirror:). Hmmm, not 
at the table will be discussed ... ;-)



   While in the meantime (in skazanul ...) rolled to the late 
evening, the festival gradually nearing completion, some people 
quietly disappeared to an unknown destination ... Competition 
Amiga and pisishnyh mod-s passed as an informal, after which 
the audience invited to take voting cards. It was then that 
people first reached the scene! BC-Schnick, perhaps, there was 
very little because the announcement of the cancellation of 
tenders for the BK did not cause any emotions. People lay in a 
pile of leaves with their "voices" and headed for the door, he 
heard: "Bytefall over, all thanks ...". Well, exactly how to 
play in the theater: the action is over - it's time to go home! 
The more so that the tender results, as announced, will be 
somewhere next week. (At this point the results already 
published, and we can congratulate the people familiar with the 
successes: XPEh - 1 place in 32-channel mod-s, Visual / MS -

1 in the category "traditional music", MIC - quite an honorable 
place in the four "alternative music", Terror / DR - 1 seat 
drawn on the chart. Gold medals - in the studio! :)).

   Hard to say, has become a Bytefall'99 event on the Amiga and 
pisishnoy scene - better let the participants themselves and 
the real experts will express their opinion about it. To me it 
seemed - BF'99 passed as something ordinary. At the same time, 
once people attend such events - which means they need. 
Organizers their part performed exclusively with dignity, with 
honor, breaking the force majeure (should have more than lofty 
words to add!).
