  FTP and TelNet - the two most famous
opportunities provided by direct
connection to the Internet.


                   FTP


  File Transfer Protocol, FTP (File
Transfer Protocol) was developed more
twenty years ago and still remains
most well-known advantage of direct
connect to the Internet. Almost any
file or document ever released
for broad distribution can be obtained from one of the many 
FTP-servers. 


  For users of greatest interest

establishing communication with the server in your disposal is

  Second place in popularity among service
Internet is TelNet. TelNet provides access to a computer and 
Internet site often used for remote BBS or computer services. 
It is more convenient and economical, as data is transferred 
over high-speed channels, the Internet, rather than 
long-distance or international telephone lines. In this BBS 
serves as a passive transmission link connecting the user with 
a remote BBS or computer service. The subscriber can use all 
services provided by the appropriate service: read and write 
messages, retrieve files, conduct interactive chat. Such a way 
of working with the server provided by a remote system, often 
referred to as Switched Data (Data switch operation).
