Producers - On new developments in the market of hardware ZX'a: The new model ZX-compatible PC "Peters".

  We are starting a new column in which we talk about new 
developments in market hardware Zx'a. In general, the topic is 
not new to computer books (easier to find such, where a word

not written about the producers, rather than vice versa). 
Therefore, we also do not want to become the exception. The 
only but: Category will not be constant. 

Today you will read a letter of Fame in Mednonogova echo 
ZX.SPECTRUM, in which he talks about the Spectrum-compatible 
computer, manufactured by Peters:

By the end of this year, the company will release PETERS
a new model of its ZX-compatible computer!

The first model RETERS-256 is already available
more than a year. I saw him in December last year, the 
exhibition held firm. Way to address memory above 128k -

like scorpions and Kay. Added port # 3FFD
for domestic use. Frequency - 4 MHz. Remembered more then nice 
distinctions: 

a) instead of the ROM can be connected to the RAM - so
way the computer becomes a Scorpio
in Is-Dos car and into anything;

b) in the RAM you can place a virtual disk
access to which is the means
TR-DOS - very convenient, for example, assembly;

c) The screen can be extended to 40h32 familiarity (imho true);

d) support high resolution display allows 80 characters (8x8) in
line;

d) Moreover, the screen can be opened
multiple windows, and give each its own type
resolution - ordinary, middle, low;

e) and so forth, away, away.

Over the past year the company spent a lot of work, listen 
carefully to the wishes and tried to take them into account in 
its razarabotke. Beta-version of the new car could be seen

the first day Enlight'96.

What is new is waiting for us in their wonderful machine (other 
than listed above)? 

a) along with the old way of addressing memory introduces a new 
- for each field 16k (with address # 0000, # 4000, # 8000, # 
C000) assigned to one register, with

which can be connected back 256 units
at 16k. Total, theoretically, can be addressed 4h256h16k = 16MB 
memory (!). However, in plans of the company, it can be limited

one meter.

b) slot structure (it is now fashionable).

c) improving performance - 4 MHz and turbo mode (I do not 
understand - whether 12, whether 22 MHz)


d) a new graphics mode (320h200h256
colors) - is not VGA? Especially for a quick withdrawal 
schedules designed graphical accelerator (included errors Prfi 
and ATM-Turbo:). All its capabilities, I do not know, but seems 
like a submode is there something similar to Yekaterinburg 
video card (remember, ZX + Dendy). 

d) built-in Kempston mouse;

e) built-in disk drive controller card (?)
At least, they promised;

g) Built-General Sound (?), then the truth
depends more on the X-TRADE: whether they can
normally agree, and when finally

h) as # of buildings will be minimal,

and) high compatibility with the Pentagon;

k) and whatnot, but I'm not all remember.

Summary: I really liked the first model, I am confident that 
the new PETERS be of excellent quality. Especially tempting new 
graphics capabilities - now, therefore, pulling graphics from 
IBM, and without braking use it on the Spectrum. And if there 
is still 22Mgts? Here it is, Spectrum tomorrow:)


Suggestions: INFO ON ADVERTISING! And then there is a great 
computer (it will), and potential buyers about it just do not 
know: ( 



  We have seen the computer once (too
on Enlight'e). In one corner stood a table with a computer, 
someone announced over the microphone that here, say, a new 
computer show ... Not less than a hundred people rushed to this

small table ... Ah, if only, though, would be
half of them at least something I saw ...


  An acquaintance got through "over the heads" of spectators 
and carried off a piece, which listed the possibilities of this 
computer, yes another corner of my eye saw a avtomobilchik 
drawn, apparently, in ART-STUDIO, and who once would have 
demonstrated the graphics capabilities Peters'a. Here and all 
that we know (or rather knew) about him. Maybe even the 
producers themselves and add something to the words of Glory 
Mednonogova? We are waiting to ...
