Docycon'98 - A report about the past in the Czech Republic demo party.

   Party DoxyCon'98 held in the Czech city
Doxey from 14th to 16th August. As far as I know
something similar happened here last year,
but at this year's party appeared
own music / graphics / demo competitions.
Apparently so, and gathered so many people -
more than fifty (and before that thought
if at least twenty people gather, it is already
good!). This article is not an official report on
DoxyCon'e because I'm not an organizer, and
just a very satisfied visitor ...
[Diver: but the article was approved by one of
organizers, so all OK:)].

   Party started at 10 am, I arrived half an hour
before and already had a lot of people, mostly from
Czech Republic. On the first day, all involved in copying
software, debugging demos, and of course very
communicated a lot. When we all gathered together in one
Hall, the organizers of each person in turn provided, but
it was almost impossible to remember who a nickname.
Speaking of the organizers. They came up
great idea - to paint your hair green,
so that they can be easily distinguished from the others. Until
I thought that the party will turn a such "stag" ...
:-), But, fortunately, there were also girls. But, alas,
not with me ... :-(. But anyway, I did not come
for the girls to watch, but on the demo. And I saw them ...
Tritol showed a spectrum, with a connected
propeller drove the demo "MECIARNATOR". For those who
have not seen this demo: it was moved to the PC, and is
of static pictures, replacing each other under
digital music (16 kHz), the size of the demo - about
2Mb. To sinter it almost looks like on the PC (only
graphics worse - the conversion of all the same, and even 
samples cut up 4ehbitnyh, but still at 16 kHz!). All

this crap to play right from the screw! After it, he
began to show a cartoon (like a
AVI-Schnick), again it is spinning right from the screw, but
Somebody (I will not name him and took :-)

   By the way the Czech beer in general class and the guys there
for some reason do not drink CH3CH2OH [D: alcohol, is 
shorter:)] - I found that out when we were sitting in the 
evening with Zilog'om, MGS'om and all ZERO TEAM [D: not to be 
confused with ZER0 of Lithuania] in the bar and watched a small

our sheep, that is, to the party ... We spent the night right 
in the school, in general, then not so bad, except for

tractor. Because of him I slept only a few
hours, and then again I sat down at my computer ...

   Second day. On this day, were
competitions. In the morning all pohavali and resulted in
order of their compo-operation. After lunch, all (well, or
almost all) have moved into the biggest (but not
large enough to accommodate all) class and
it all started. But first, OMEGA provided to all
First Association MegaDemo (1.6 Mb!) [D: Well:) ihnimi
packers - 1.6, our - 1.3 Mb:)].

   I do not want to offend anyone - but I was
really disappointed with this demoy. Some
of merit, but everything else ...
By the way, just as it came time to party
some spektrumist from Austria, but unfortunately I
will not tell you who it was, because I do not know ...

   After the FA launched graphics compo. Images were
are really good (I must
say that in general all compo me happy -
if such works were exhibited at DemoBit'95, then
they would be worthy of the highest places!).
In my opinion, the best pictures were from
Marwin'a / K3L (he won), on ART'a / NOP and the
AG / Speccy Boyz (his picture taken second, 3e, and 11th
places). Unfortunately I can not remember the total, the results
[D: Well it's not terrible, now after 2 months

   Music compo was cool. Organizers
like a compo-music show cartoon
Tritol'a. But someone (again, same damn cut off :-)
screw it ... Therefore, during the music compo on screens
were only unpretentious pictures with numbers and
titles of works (Tritol drew them into the Art Studio).
The winner of this compo was Chrysagon of Naughty
Crew, the second was Bell/K3L, and our musician Cobra
took fourth place!

   Next was the final part of ... The long-awaited
demo compo. Here the last time I prayed

Fear Zone by Aragorn / Naughty Crew. Normal

LAST 48 by E.S.A. Their level has grown considerably in

   After this demo ended hall fell silent,
and then applause exploded as a concert

won the cup a cool (but only one, and their

fourth place - Speccy Boyz and Aragorn from

   The remainder of the day was devoted to 3SC - all wanted
