But I’m wondering how this modem will “download the mail itself”? What, without
a program? Doesn't he make coffee? And how do the functions of picking up the handset and dialing differ from those in CDOS modems and modified Vicomms? And by the way, what did you not like about Hayes? The only advantage of the XTR modem that I see is number identification. Which, in my opinion, is not so difficult to implement on the basis of
other modems, including software.

By the way, what about XTR's noise immunity? Can it change the speed
dynamically? Isn’t it compatible with Hayes either?

This is rather a stereotype of thinking: for the Spectrum everything should be its own, and
certainly from 315 tr-p. As a rule, with the obvious frontal inscription “yes,
it’s wretched, but *its own* and in general, what do you want more from zx.”
In particular, this is the case with the modem issue. However, the matter, as they say, is the master's - time will tell (who, for example, would want to connect an mfm hdd now?)..

With best wishes, Michael.

Moreover, the options for “your wretched” and not very different from analogues
“should” be as numerous and incompatible as possible...
