ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Riccardo Dri → To All 21 March 1998
Hallo to All,
I receive this area wholly garbled. Nobody can't read anything. Does someone
can explain which kind of charachter sets is using here ??
I tried all, but unsuccesfully. I have users who asked me to link this area,
but I have to abandon it if this problem can't be solved.
2nd question: is this area a Fidonet area ? In this case it is more strange
these unreadable carachters are allowed.
3rd question: are you writing is russian ? Strange again! An international area
must be readable for all and this means that language should be imperatively
english.
Let me have news (using caracthers and/or language I can understand).
Thanks in advance.
Bye
Riccardo

ZX.SPECTRUM is not international area.

MM> ZX.SPECTRUM is not international area.
Misha, you wouldn’t tell him off, but explain it like a chest of drawers, saying let him write in
his English, we’ll understand, and maybe even answer. ;) I would write this myself,
but I’m afraid that they will laugh at my English. ;( And it would probably be interesting
to know the opinion of foreign people who still remember that there is a Spectrum.
With all kinds of regards and wishes.
Igor.

IG> And it would probably be interesting to know the opinion of foreign people, who still
IG> still remember that there is a Spectrum.
I absolutely agree. If there are still people THERE who remember Specky,
then it would be stupid to cut off this last branch connecting us and them.
And so, maybe someone will come to FunTop, and maybe they will bring work.
A small note from life...
Based on my place of residence, I noticed that there are no Spectrums from the West no one is lucky (hence they don’t throw them away), they are carrying atari, amigi, commodores, other
nonsense, but not a single Spectrum, hence the conclusion - this machine is still spinning there among the people...!

Yeah, the naming of this conference is quite misleading and does not meet
the facts. This area is actually not international and mostly intended for
Russian-speaking readers.
It's not a subject without change, you're welcome. :)

You may have noticed by the recent subjects that your query got a fairly
wide response in the conference. Unfortunately, in Russian. :) The sense is that
we welcome you and your friends to participate the conference discussions and
let us know if you have any info concerning speccy and speccy fans in your
country.
Looking forward to contacting with you

If anyone of your users understands the Russian language properly, this echo
will be worth reading. Our language is beautiful enough, though it's very hard
to learn. So if you don't know Russian, this echo won't be useful for you. In
any case, your points may write here about the problems, the questions they wish
to find answers to. There are many people here who know English well enough;
we'll find opportunity and will to continue the productive dialogue between our
two peoples. ;)

IG> in English, we will understand, and maybe even answer. ;) I would write this myself,

IG> that they will laugh at my English. ;(And it would probably be interesting
to know the opinion
But you write in order to be understood, and not for the sake of
grammar. :) And laughing at ignorance of the language in
civilized countries is not good. ;) For example,
English-speaking people consider it normal to speak distorted
Russian, because... they believe that the main thing is to understand the interlocutor.
For it is better to know several languages at a level sufficient for
understanding than 2 languages at the level of grammar ;)
(but in our country they often know their native language precisely “at the level of
understanding” ;(
)
IG> foreign people who still remember that there is a Spectrum.
Hmm, in London they remember Spectrum good. :) In the 95s
there was even a fashion for virtual Spectrum. By the way (someone
already talked about this), in Europe the Spectrum is considered a classic, and
not “some kind of antediluvian computer with crappy graphics.”
By the way, 2:333 - what city?

IMHO, that’s not what he was talking about. It’s just that there haven’t been enough “craftsmen” yet who
