No, you can write some kind of butt. Especially if the compiler
takes into account the architecture. At least, I saw somewhere
mentions of C for the Z80 family (cross-platform, in the sense

[opu]eno]
The questions posed by you are both important and complex. Serious programs such as Microsoft Office naturally require a lot of work on them. And,
naturally, they cannot be applied to the machine as a free application.
Just look at the official price tag of this program for IBM.
Work on programs for Sprinter has been underway for a long time and is now gaining
momentum.
There will be a text editor, possibly with keyword highlighting.
On Spectrum there were no such editors at all.
I just don’t want to say now that “this and that will happen.”
The machine that we made does not pretend to be the first in everything. But
in the class of Spectrum type cars it is, imho, the first.

These are rather not requirements for text processors, but requirements for desktop

Normal programs (there are probably such on PC? :-))), when choosing to print to a
graph file, or direct output to a printer that does not support PostScript, do not
use PostScript. Why do you have to generate it and then waste time on simulation?

For example, to quickly write a letter in a text editor and print it in text mode to a printer, you don’t need all this. And the funniest thing is that the text editor in is-dos with a frequency of 21 megahertz and a 4 megabyte ramdisk will do most operations with text faster than a Pentium 90 in the latest Word under Windows 95. :-)))) And if this is Windows NT? :-))) After all, we are talking about a home computer, and at home there is no need to print illustrated pages in 24-bit graphics and a resolution of 720*720. For _domestic_ work with texts
the sprinter will be cheaper and more productive at the same cost as the PC.

Precisely because is-dos is written in ASMA, we get the result described
above. And that is why programs on the PC are slowed down, that the programmer thinks only about his time, and not about the time of the users of his program, and the amount of money spent by themon upgrade to achieve a
decent speed of operation of its programs. Of course not all programs or place
s in programs require fast completion. In such a case it is possible
use of S.

it a convenient and cheap computer for the home, with optimal
price/performance parameters, again for the home.

MF> Vprochem Vy naverno i sami predstavlyaete etotscenarii, prosto

I am not distracted by what I present. And if we think by your analogy, then
everyone needs to quickly throw away the Spectrum, buy PCs, Macs and Amigas
throw them away too, since there is no Windows there, and when working, it is necessary.
Of course, there are no two identical opinions, and there is no friend according to the taste and color, but I am
sure there will be people who prefer Sprinter to PC for moral and
material reasons. If you cannot do without the PC, then
look around, since there are many people who can do without it and do not regret it at all.

I really have nothing to answer to this. It's hard to explain why the Sprinter doesn't come with a free program that it doesn't have. But, this is not

If Sprinter gets to America.. Oh!..

For that kind of money you can sell a very good program for Sprinter.

The question “how complex a program can be written” really doesn’t arise - you can write a program of _any_ complexity (of course, if the old Spectrum can handle it). And it won’t take that much time, unless, of course, a person has some “groundwork.” But the program will turn out to be: (a)

Nope, it’s not simpler... As one teacher once told me long ago - “What pascal do you want to write your coursework in? 2nd? Considering that there’s not even normal work with files... However, it’s up to you, if you want to get into a bunch of contradictions and limitations - climb." The point, as you probably understood, was that I would write the course not on IBM on the 5th Pascal, but on Spectrum - on highsoft...
Yes, and from experience I know - simpler, much simpler... All the "complexity" is nothing more
than "Assembler syndrome".

Why? Well, what will I get from CP/M other than some C v1.2, which I can’t even look at without laughing (though this is also mixed with admiration for those programmers who 15-20 years ago wrote programs in these packages)... Why “make an emulator”? DOS sample ~ 79th yearDOS sample ~ 92-93 years old? Just to “get a lot of ready-made
software”? Isn’t it easier, then, to immediately write this software for IS-DOS?

Sorry...

It seems that no one was going to promote Sprinter to the DTP market...
You have the concept of a normal system - producing postscripts in batches,
Max Romanov has no brakes and a good multitask, someone else has
MSWord launchability... How many people, so many needs.

Sprinter, like any other The computer is not made for everyone. This is a highly specialized thing only for those who need a Sprinter. There is no need to accuse Peters of forcibly introducing crooked iron. If you want Scorpio, then buy it, fortunately it is still on sale. Whoever needs an A500 will buy it.

And we will buy a Sprinter.

Okay, I won’t touch on the problem of “incompatibility between compilers

incompatibility between different _DIALECTS_ of the language. (So, for example, the dialect of "pure" Borland C does not coincide with the dialect of ANSI)...

The fact is that they are not mistaken, they just have no choice.
Microsoft left no choice to users, having persuaded almost all
software manufacturers to write for their graphic patch DOS. Other
axes are practically left without support, and are bent.

And users can no longer get away from what they have
due to the fact that they poured a lot of money into hardware and software... And there is no other

Mmmmmm... How can I tell you this... I found several
inaccuracies in your words:
1) We are talking only about _Spectrum_, and the tools _FOR_ _IT_. No
cross-systems are not taken into account because: “this is no longer a Spectrum” (C)
2) Even when writing programs in cross-C, I have _NOWHERE_ _NOT_ _GOING TO_
the problem of non-optimality of the resulting code...

[.....]

MF>: For for example - in Visual C++, a program that works with a text
MF> file

What are you saying???!!! :))) In the most simple program:10Kb
is a certain constant, and 4Kb is a “masterpiece” itself...

MF> : In assembler (at least in Spectrum) a similar program
MF> : will take ~ 50-100 bytes.
MF> A zachem?
Well... Marat, I think you’re not too much like me will you be offended if I allow
to draw a couple of conclusions about you?
1) You _NEVER_ programmed on the Spectrum.
2) You are not used to saving computer system resources, which means you hardly
ever wrote any global program that could
compete with analogues...
3) Most likely, by your profession you are not a programmer...

MF> Pri 4MB pamyati v Sprintere Vy bol'she budete ozabocheny svoim
MF> vremenem kak programmista chem tochnym kol-vom bait v Vashei program.
When writing the program I _ALWAYS_ is concerned with only one thing - to write a
_GOOD_ program, which is as optimal as possible... And if when writing a program I know that I will then modify it, then
even more so I try to save resources...
An example, you say? Please. Since we are talking about a text editor... In my ZX-WinWord, 84 kilobytes are allocated for text/graphics.
Let's do the calculations: 128 - 84 = 44. So, for everything I have 44Kb.
We continue the calculations: 44 - 9 = 35. This means that if you take into account system
variables and screen area, then underthe program itself remains 35 kilobytes...
That is. not even “under the executable code of the program”, but “in general under the program with
its code and all the variables”... And now, after these calculations, take
the description of my editor, carefully read its functions/capabilities, and
write a similar one, but in C... And after that, we will see if you succeeded
"squeeze" into the same 35Kb...

Are you not confusing anything? Are you sure? What versions of compilers are you talking about? The ANSI standard in C appeared somewhere in 1986, before that it simply did not exist... Moreover, if I were you, I would not be so categorical with the words “any ancient compiler will understand K&R C”. At least for two reasons:
1) Initially, K&R gave such vague descriptions that it was difficult to even call them in language. Rather, it was just a set of rules.
2) In view of (1) until ~ 1983, _EVERY_ C developer gave his own
interpretation to the K&R owls, and therefore the dialects (rather strongly incompatible with each other)each other) grew like mushrooms after rain...
3) It was thanks to (2) that the American Standards Institute began to create its own dialect, which was to become standard... The work lasted
about 5 years, and ended (as I already said) ~ in 1986.
MF> What do you think? nuzhno ot kompilyatora?
Options of the compiler itself... And so, an interface for the development environment would not hurt. Yes, a lot more...

Peters need to hurry up with software, not Word. Why does Spectrum need Word (are you
talking about something like Office97?)? A competent text editor - yes, you need it.
Although there are already several quite decent ones (except for Tasword and Zixwinword
- these are unacceptable brakes, champions, one might say) for trdos + a couple
quite powerful (probably not inferior to the first versions of the same word) for isdos
and sp/m. A graphic editor for Sprinter video modes is needed now. Musical

I can say this to myself, despite my superficial familiarity with Java.
What does C have to do with it in general? You asked (I’m exaggerating) - “Is it difficult to do Word on the Spectrum?”.
I answered - “Easy! And who will pay for the work?” And you, for some reason, are translating the conversation into C... It wasn’t me who argued that it is easier to write complex

Shmali stoned? Have you seen isdos on a real Spectrum, and not

that you described? Using them is dangerous to life!
Datalog is a converted imported database. Under trdos there is an analogue.
Business calendar - you don’t even need to compare this with the program
for setting the date. Mat. value - I haven’t seen it, I don’t know. The rest - this

Hello All !

People, of course, I understand that when developing the sprinter, the developers
counted on the fact that in the first couple of years the sprinter would live off the
Speccy software... But given its power... IMHO it would not be out of place to write a
translator "SI"... what I mean is that this is usually the case was done on all the cars
which, when they appeared, needed to urgently write software, and there was little money and
time left for this... (Alfa DEC, Sparc, etc.) then they wrote
"SI" and then ported all the software of which to "SI" in the source code
there is a lot of money lying around... and all the shareware... including serious
operating systems... So maybe it was not in vain that Marat (who is Faizulin) started a conversation about "SI" here...

With best regards.

I support it. The truth about 'Home Budget'. The truth is under the emulsion. As strange as it may be, it is the IS-DOS program that has no analogue on IBM. In any case, I didn't find it. And if I had found it, it would have been at least Windows-compatible, plus it would have consumed 80 meters on the screw. And so the emulsion plus a couple of fdi - less than two meters
and everything flies.

With all kinds of regards and wishes.
Igor.

Hello Everyone....
Perhaps I missed something... :(
But I'm worried about a small question...
What is so good about SPRINTER. Apart from scattered information that it
looks like a real Spectrum, I couldn't find it.

I would be glad for any information.

There is a proposal to start by ensuring the launchability of CP/M in Profi/ATM mods.

PS: Dear Rick Murray!!! You, as an old specialist, can say very
importantly - what and how to port...

Exactly! And I, as a sprinter, need to properly explain everything about CP/M, otherwise I’ve never even seen it. Only stories alone. One says good, the other says bad. Third, you can make it for Sprinter in five minutes. If in five
minutes, then why not do it?

You've been full for a long time the list was sent by what you have "frequently in
origin". Only when it was :(( Maybe it’s worth repeating?
