>> Have you all read the article “Project Save Our Speccy” in Hallu... In short, in
>> GlukoOpera? ;)
AS> I didn’t read it because I don’t download large programs without annotations.

In the echo there was a demo of Hallucinations (in?) Orera. A good demo with a good plot,
it’s just a pity that the (spelling) errors spoil the impression. It was necessary
to write in Russian :)

>> IMHO, the train left a long time ago, but you can implement something less complicated and
>> more real. In a nutshell:

AS> Such things cannot be discussed in a nutshell... discrediting the idea
AS> of trading
AS> Spectrum software over networks is just as criminal as the idea of holding
AS> an annual demo party. Both can affect the whole world
AS> Spectrum in Russia and the CIS. I must tell you, I have already
AS> developed the SNB project quite thoroughly.

IMHO, it’s too complicated for the masses to understand Zh8)

>> We were talking about creating a normal distribution network, where
>> a large company like
>> Inforcom would be involved in distributing Spectrum software, which would pay well for the author’s work anddistributed
>> programs by mail.
AS> Oh, but we don’t need large companies, eh? ;)

It was Viator who came up with it :)

>> I suggest sending programs not by regular mail, but by
>> e-mail. Many have Fido/Inet/ZXNet. The fact is that personally
>>, for example, you can’t force me to go to the post office to issue a postal order,
>> or, because of a couple of games, to go to the other end of the city to the radio market.
AS> This is “I support with all my limbs” :) (the copyright is not mine, in the echoes of what
AS> you just can’t read enough). But the problem of secondary network
AS> distribution arises, in other words: someone pays money, and everyone listens to music
AS>, and most of them for free ;) This is a problem of problems, without a solution
AS> of which everything degenerates into the spread of freeware.

At the end I gave ways to solve the problem: to interest/make you pay
fees, following them, you can most users! Firstly, 10 thousand a month is not much, not much at all. Secondly, it’s better, IMHO, to pay than to be
ignored by everyone.

>> Instead, as an alternative, you can
>>> propose to transfer only once every one/several months a certain
>>> “membership
>> fee” (say 10 thousand/month), and in return, for the whole month, promptly receive
>> news from all over the country.
AS> No,Sergey, it won’t work...everyone wants to know _what_ they will get for their
AS> money.

So it’s clear: all the new software in a month. And this is more than 10 thousand, because... More than one new disc is released per month. Don't forget about a bunch of releases of Western games. + system software +
remixes and hacker crafts. And all this is practically for free! In addition, Viator
(the author of the demo) proposes that the association release cammingsun demos (and this is easily
implemented).

AS> The only option possible (for a non-profit network!) is: the author
AS> presents the demo to the public (which is what we are seeing here), and then
AS> announces the period during which he accepts applications in soap.

So what, every author will do this? `;))

AS> We have about 600-700 people in our networks.

+ Fido/Inet. For groups (do not pay 17 (?) members of the DR 170 thousand per month :)
we will make discounts. Those who do not have addresses on the network will receive programs from
friends who have this access, but, again, by paying a membership fee. No? -
General ignorance/contempt :/E

AS> For your information: downloading even demos and freesoft from this echo costs me personally
AS> $0.4 per 100k! Therefore, I will somehow be able to pay my dollar in addition :) Now about how to collect money and how to hand it over to the author. This is where we come to the “money by fax” problem. Money, in
AS> unlikeprograms, electronic publications, videos, graphics, music, etc.
AS> digital information cannot be transmitted over networks. So we came to my
AS> project SpectrumNetBank ;) Alas, but if we are talking about TRADE FOR
AS> MONEY there is no escape ;( Let me remind you what its essence is, briefly: every
AS> large city maintains accounts of its clients, who can buy and
AS> sell over the network. Buyers naturally have money withdrawn from their accounts, and
AS> are credited to sellers. So that the seller could receive the money "live"
AS>, the buyer must hand it over "live". This is where
AS> harsh reality begins: the state, bandits and other ... shadows (I ask the
AS> co-moderator for leniency, but there is no other way to say it ;) ). The simplest
AS> is to register with the tax office as a private entrepreneur
AS> without forming a legal entity, and even better still
AS> to organize a non-profit structure - one for the whole of Russia and the CIS, with
AS> branches in large cities, it could, by the way, then completely
AS> legally hold annual demo parties!!! And appoint your representatives
AS> to the regions. 2 people in Moscow (official headquarters + 10 people (
AS> St. Petersburg, Samara, Nizhny and Veliky Novgorod, Minsk, Kharkov, Novosibirsk,
AS> Ekatirinburg,Rostov-on-Don, Chisinau, tell me if I missed anyone) on
AS> places - no more is needed! Then the organization could open accounts in
AS> banks (preferably Sber, as the most reliable) and officially, quite legally,
AS> take money from people and give money to people. There are three people in Moscow,
AS> only because one of them is an accountant, and the first is the Chairman :) ! All
AS> representatives from the regions should have the opportunity to visit
AS> Moscow once a quarter with reports on the financial activities of the branches - this is important!!! At the same time, they will be able to bring “money in a case” for mutual settlements - so is it cheaper? Well, they themselves will figure it out later, how it’s more reliable, etc. Well
AS> everything fell into place: everything is legal, everything is solid, everything is for the benefit of
AS> Spectrum and Spectrumists.

... everything is unrealistic... I suggest sending postal orders. Once every six months, anyone can go to the post office and give 60 pieces, and then receive everything new for six months! Just think how instant access to software will enliven Spectrum life! Both authors and releasers will receive good money - it will
be profitable to do something on the Spectrum - how many groups can be saved, how many
projects will see the light of day!

AS> Just don’t take on publishing and
other functions, increasing costs - otherwise it will still be more profitable
AS> use regular online banks! The decision whether or not to buy
AS> this or that network product must be made by the users themselves. Authors
AS> must maintain their programs, as is the norm for commercial
AS> products. The free electronic Spectrum press is free to criticize, test, “promote and market” certain products. For
AS> all this should be paid to them by the software authors themselves and their regular readers.

Somehow, I don’t see much sense in this: the authors will no longer have money, the software
will not arrive earlier, or even later, than usual.

AS> In
AS> the budget of this new organization should not include such articles
AS>,
AS> there is no need to revive Inforcom in its previous form! The organization, I would call it
AS> SpectrumUnion, should only control the financial activities of
AS> branches and ensure the holding of an annual demo party (organizationally and
AS> financially (in the sense of providing legal grounds for the sale of
AS> tickets, festival trade and distribution of cash prizes)
AS>).

If this is feasible (which I do not believe in), then with the support of the rich sponsor.

AS> Of course, it would be nice if in the future she hired lawyers
AS> and started prosecuting all kinds of pirates from
AS>Spectrum, but that's in perspective.

:) "Pirates are people too!" B;)

AS> It must have its own Charter and
AS> regulate the activities of its branches. And the most important thing is to support everything organizationally and legally. No, perhaps there should still be four people in Moscow: the Chairman, an accountant, a lawyer and a representative of the Moscow branch! The rest will be done by the “scene” and
AS> users themselves! No one will buy a “pig in a poke”! Newspapers and magazines
AS> must clearly and in detail convey to users the characteristics of this
AS> or other software product.

By the time they “convey”, the software will either spread or become obsolete.

>> to the work and quality of the program. Those. some kind of "Black Raven-5" is coming out.
>> The author requests from the company/etc. that distributes software according to
>> the above scheme a certain amount.

AS> Well, you shouldn't be doing that, Vyacheslav Mednonogov deserves the ordered software!
AS> That is. and SU (SpectrumUnion) and all, all, all publications can and should give him
AS> (if he wishes) an advance for the development of his programs!

Advance? Money? What if the game doesn't come out? Money bye bye? ;) No, I suggest it simpler:
you pay pennies, instantly get everything new and the authors are not at a loss.

AS> And he, upon completion
AS> of the work, will give it to themready-made copies. Let other authors do so at their own peril and risk! Let them try not to take on “grand
AS> projects right away.” And let them do what can really be done with “little loss” and be able
AS> to be in demand and let them work correctly with the press and
AS> distributors. Speaking of traders. I strongly recommend that they
AS> form tandems with representatives of SU in the regions and the network versions received from them
AS>, having paid the appropriate money, be replicated with protection
AS> on floppy disks.

And you think that all users will “get it” and generally “get it”... For me
at least, everything is clear and no brainer. `~:}

AS> I repeat once again that network distribution
AS> of commercial products will become a reality only after the development
AS> of the appropriate “network protection” technology!

No need for protection. Don't pay your dues? Do you want to support Spectrum? You will not appear either in magazines or in writings. And they won’t accept you into the group - otherwise the same thing will happen to the whole group.

>> Naturally, Western innovations will also spread (you can start
>> the experiment
>> with them). Releasers now often receive nothing from their release,
>> therefore they will only be interested in the fact that their versions will sell out
>> the whole country. But some amounts (for beer :) can be transferred to them.
AS> Sergey, you already work for Relcom, which is not a free network
AS>! Hmm...but you won't get anything from them...then all you have to do is
AS> act according to the same scheme...i.e. not to release everything, but to release or
AS> to order or receive from magazines, which will be included in applications and
AS> for commercial editions of newspapers.

Money will be paid for releases, depending on the quality, usefulness and
amount of work done.

>> Accordingly, magazines, newspapers, etc. will begin to generate some
>> income. (Naturally, the author can refuse the remuneration).
AS> Magazines can send out “truncated” network issues over networks ... this will be
AS> a kind of “demo” + additional advertising, and commercial issues can
AS> be sent out in the same way, at the request of buyers with corresponding
AS> charges to their accounts! Ugh. I didn’t “cover”, it seems, only
AS> demo makers...Works that won prizes... everything is clear with them. Not
AS> who won...should receive remuneration from
AS> distribution of collections!

SOS will also pay the authors of good demos that will be sent out over the network.

AS> “Demes are not frivolous from their birth!”

Demes are frivolous, unless the authors disagree. But hardly anyone will pay for demo money. But “as a bonus”, to complete the sensations
it’s not bad to receive them over the network.

AS> Let the people choose for themselves... and think about it... maybe there’s something in my idea?
AS> ;)

Imho, it’s UNREAL. Think about it.

With God's blessing, Sergei Novikov aka Spirit^dR^sNG
