ZXNet
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Alexey Ivanov → To All 27 October 1997
Friends!
You all know me as the coordinator of the international ZXNet network.
The time has come for me to self-destruct.
Since the creation of the network in February 1995, I have been tasked with:
- connecting ZX-Spectrum users in Moscow via INTERNET and
FIDO; I completed this within two months.
- the network has grown to an international level and I was given the
responsibility to support international traffic (which was already
debugged to the point of automation). Everything is currently working.
I believe that I have fulfilled everything that those who chose me ordered me to do
ZXNet sysops:
- any spektrumist has free access to the INTERNET and FIDO. And
all this works realistically and self-regulated.
- There was and will be a freebie!
And the time has come to transfer the network to other hands. At the moment,
the only person to whom ZXNet can be transferred without compromising the quality of communication is the coordinator of ZXNet of Belarus - Arseniy
Astapenko (017/1) - the only person at the moment who can “pull” the entire ZXNet.
All of the above does not mean that traffic and the network are abandoned. The mail
will continue to go as it went! The only thing I would like
to draw your attention to:
The single international postal address will be: zx...@iname.com - this is
the forwarding address at the discretion of the coordinator.
Howalways, it is used when there are problems transmitting mail between regions.
The address Zx...@deol.ru will work for another 2 months, after which it will be
liquidated.
All existing ZXNet WEB pages remain valid + there will be new ones.
With respect and with great gratitude to everyone who
supported me,
Alexey Ivanov (500:095/100)
P.S. I have been a spektrumist and will remain one.
And the address of my node remains valid! Also, all my, maybe unfulfilled, promises are behind me. I am not leaving you!
Sincerely, Alexey Ivanov

Still, it’s strange that there is, as it were, a ZXNet-World and Spb.ZXNet. Until now they
have never met :(
Warm greetings, Slava!
