Zx-WinWord 2.0 demo [0/5]

ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Evgeny Milun To All 19 September 1997

Hello Roman !

Wednesday September 17 1997 21:53, Roman Rakitin ─── Evgeny Milun:

RR> Guys, can someone give me the layout of the .doc file so that I can write viever
RR> for the future newspaper, for the future ZX-NET network.
RR> Or maybe you won’t? demo version of subj?
Here, you see, the concept of “demo version” is somewhat relative... Version
2.0demo is a full-fledged version, based on (naturally) 1.3, several glitches have been corrected, several new features have been added, i.e. this is a _not-
mediocre_ continuation of 1.3. Another thing is that in full 2.0 these “several
new features” are more complete... This mainly concerns text formatting functions...
Since ZX-WinWord is a non-commercial program (at least for now), then
of course it would be possible to throw 2.0 into the echo... But, it seems, the people of St. Petersburg want place it in an application in your journal...
Okay, we'll talk about this later, but for now here's the format of the doc file:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. One sector of service information
[ Offset (length) - value ]
+0 (17) - "ZX-WINWORD v2.0" - text for identification of the document file
and the version number in which it was last edited.
+17 (2) - text length, inbytes.
+19 (2) - length of the sprite table, in bytes.
+21 (2) - template length, in bytes.
+23 (1) - number of sprites in the table.
+24 (1) - default attribute. (Only starting from version 2.0).
All other bytes are not used yet and are equal to 0. _YET_.
II. Sectors containing text. (Max. - 192 sectors)
I hope comments are unnecessary.
III. -||- sprite table (if any). (Max. - 128 sectors)
The table format is given in the editor help.
IIII. -||- template - linking sprites to text (if any). (Max - 16 sectors).
Here we should talk not about sprites, but about illustrations. Illustration is any picture in the text, which represents some kind of sprite.
For example, there are two pictures on the screen (i.e. illustrations), one, for example, in the upper left corner, the other in the lower right. These pictures can be different (i.e.
different sprites), or they can be the same (i.e. the same sprite), however
they are independent of each other and have their own descriptors.
Descriptor format, 4 bytes per illustration:
+0 (1) - number page-screen on which this illustration is located.
+1 (1) - sprite number.
+2 (1) - X-position on the screen. (Based on 32 characters per line).
+3 (1) - Y-position onscreen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S. I myself thought about the viewer... I even once wrote the first version, but
then I stopped getting around to it - I’m still fiddling with “myself”...
P.P.S. What modems are you using to network? Here we are also thinking about it little by little...

Good luck! Evgeny.
