ZX RULEZ
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Sergei Novikov → To All 5 June 1997
Greetings, Starwalker! Glad to see you again!
Answering yld Thursday, the 05 of June 1997:
>> What are you talking about?! What's your latest demo? Is it possible on XT?
S> Can you compare the pisish demos made under VGA and GUS and
S> Sinclair's? ;)
Where have you seen an XT with a CAA and a goose? By the way, the latter will not work on it,
IMHO.
And in any case, nothing other than NC v1.0 and GWBasic will work on 4.7 MHz XT! :)
S> I answer your question - if you turn on SB in HT, the effect will be cooler
S> than on the Spectrum.
Are we talking about music or a demo? Moreover, General Sound (the new
music board) is noticeably superior to SB.
S> And demos are not written for old stuff, because there are cooler machines,
S> that’s why there have been no demos on XT lately.
Were there? On Vasik? Probably cool?! I'm not saying that _with all the desire_
it is impossible to create a game better than the Tsgash Princ on XT.
Hasta la vista, Starwalker! See you in Eden!

I have already spoken about this. All the same, the hardware capabilities of XT with EGA are much
superior to Spec.
And one more thing - now the era of the Internet has arrived. It is already clear that humanity cannot do without
the Internet or a similar global network.
Even more than that, now the Internet is smoothly moving from the stage when
human society formed it to the stage when the Internet itself
forms society. Therefore, whoever does not have access to the Internet will
be left behind progress and behind the entire planet. And now you
tell me - how do you imagine the mechanism for connecting the Spectrum to the Internet?
Ok, not even the Spectrum, but the universally cherished SuperSpectrum? As far as I
understood, the Superspectrum is a mythical computer with capabilities that exceed the price, because... people working _now_ at Spectrum are either financially constrained, or hopeless idealists and retrogrades.
The latter do not interest me at all and I will not even dwell on
this clinical case, but the former are interesting. During the years of rule of the red bandits, the country was ruined and it is not surprising that many people cannot pay $1000 for a more or less modern computer. But they are following the wrong path, trying to reinvent the wheel - understand, there is simply NO cheaper
Intel-compatible chipset and hardware for it on the market!
Apple is only now slowly starting to move away from the viciouspolicy
of monopoly, distributing licenses, but still the price of MacOS compatible
computers exceeds the price of similar Intel boxes. There are also different
RISK and SPARC processors, but they are finally out of reach for private users not only in the CIS, but throughout the world. So for now the cheapest computers are smart boxes. If you think that you can create a system with similar capabilities and cheaper, then this is your biggest mistake. This is how a person ABSOLUTELY not versed in the market of high-tech products, who does not know the market and price-forming factors in this market and who does not read the news of this market, can reason. For example, RAM last fall was BELOW the cost.
Note, below the cost in companies where they cost pennies due to huge quantities
and equipment that has long been paid off. Of course, I don’t think
that you will invent and produce memory with your own hands ;), but I
just want to show who you want to compete with. What about the software? WHO WILL WRITE IT? Which of the Sinclairists will be able
to create something even remotely reminiscent of MS Office or my
favorite Quark Xpress? Okay, here you will pretend that the Spectrum is just for fun. Ok, who will write toys? How will you attract buyers?
Black crows? :-D Yes, even if they paid me, I wouldn't play it - I haveWarcraft II. Of course, Black Raven is not on
Super Spectrum, but to create a good game by today's standards you need
at least $700,000 - $1,000,000. Where do you get that kind of money? I hope
now you understand the futility of developing a new computer? So, back to the Internet - how do you imagine the TCP/IP stack on the Spectrum? :-D Okay, even at 128K? Of course, you can work from scratch,
but you will need a browser anyway. Can you imagine
a browser at 128K? :-D I can ;) Cool, the CeBIT'98 exhibition, the stand of the company
Netscape, and at the stand the company's newest product is presented - Netscape
Communicator 4.0 (by the way, 15 meters long) in 4 releases: for Win95, for
Linux, for OS/2 Merlin and for... SPECTRUM 48K :-D gee-gee-gee :'-D What a joke! With such a compact browser, they will ruin Microsoft in one day ;) I hope there is no doubt that to work on the Internet you need a car no less than $400 (MINIMUM!!!). So even if it is possible to create a Superspectrum, it will either be cheap or good. And all the rest are illusions, so to speak, remnants of totalitarianism and finally complete
humour. I propose to merge zx.spectrum echo with ru.humor - Humorians will get a bunch of interesting jokes. The first joke you can send is the idea of
connecting a CD-ROM to the Spectrum :))))))))))))))))) Woke up! People are already saving money for DVD-ROMs, and youyou invent a computer with an obsolete CD-ROM (I love this abbreviation).
So guys and girls, take $300 and buy yourself a normal
386DX40,4,120,SVGA and you will have the Internet and normal games and a working
computer and all this for the price of the supposed Superspectrum (if not cheaper)
!

Ale, this is already starting to go beyond all limits.
Read the rules. XT/AT/AMIGA are not discussed here.
And in general it starts to smell like flame...

Don’t judge what you know only by hearsay and don’t come up with homegrown
terminology. Opinions without consciousness are disgusting to read - this made-up pile of nonsense
including non-existent architectures and false statements.

How can you compare programs without seeing them (when they have not been completed yet)?
This case smells like lamerism!!! And why do you deny that by taking the experience of
Warcraft on speccy you can write a more playable game! (graphics in
games like this mostly don't matter). And at least it will be better because the shortcomings of Warcraft can be eliminated and the advantages
repeated! Besides, “The Crow” is written by Slava Mednonogov, not Microsoft!!! :-)

TURBO!!! And if you can, keep writing here, otherwise spektrumists love humor too!!!
