From Roman Petrov To All 8 October 1997

Hello! Dear Alexei!

At 22:35, Thursday October 02 1997 there was such a thing that
Alexei Bugai scribbled a letter to Igor Gruzdev:

AB> P.S. Tell me, please, the ports of the haeyes modem when connected via
AB> Kondratiev circuit. Now they will support: Isa, Vcom, Smuc (Scorpion)...
And, please, not only the ports, but also the circuit itself! I've been waiting for a week for an answer
from Kondratiev himself - silence :( But in our city, a network of spektrumists is also planned.

With respect, Roman.

zed supports node addresses. _not_support for downlinks only in tosser. I
don’t understand at all whether anyone needs this zed at all, if so -
redoing/adding a node tosser is a matter of two days. For now, I'm not particularly enthusiastic
about the development of zed.

Goodbye.

Hmm. I naively believed that with the advent of zed, spbzxnet would move to this format, or they would strive for it. Alas, as always, go your own way... :(
Although it is possible in the future... Time will tell. And it would be logical if the spektrumists themselves said whether they need zed or not.

With all sorts of regards and wishes.
Igor.

Of course they do... What are we talking about? When (if?) we finally make our own
grid, we will sit under zed.

Good luck! Evgeny.

Everything is good, but I still haven’t seen a mailer for hayes :(
Connecting Wicoms and other things is, IMHO, not a big deal, you still need to be able to connect to Fido with
Speccy..

In ZXNet (095) on zed many have already switched.

Vikomka and C-DOS have played a positive role. Now in Moscow a gradual transition to HAYES is planned. But the point here is not the possibility of direct
work with INTERNET and FIDO. It’s just that the prices for HAYES 2400-9600 have become 30-45 thousand, and the price of C-DOS has become 30-45 thousand. 80-90 thousand

It has become cheaper, and this is important for many.

There is a second option, less attractive, but nevertheless - connecting Vicom
to IBM. In St. Petersburg Specki we did not find a way to connect, although there were
several people willing... In a word - we need an IBM-Vicom circuit and software that
works with it.

Given the filthiness of our lines, noise immunity is a relative thing! If
there are often clicks, for example, then C-DOS will have time to transmit more than chaos, since
haes is raytrained (which wastes time), and sidos simply repeats the sector.
This is octally somewhere around 2400 and less.

With respect, Alex from FFC COMPUTERS.

It’s possible... But it’s just too painful to watch how the si-dos tries to start a connection when picking up the handset - something is slightly wrong, and... you need to call again, this time they definitely won’t hear each other. :((

It won’t work like that, really this path is somehow unattractive.. And what
will happen? That is, the Spectrumist will only be able to contact someone who has such a feature. Why is this? Isn't it easier to do everything on Specky and do whatever you want, being limited only by the capabilities of the computer, but not the modem?

Haes need at least software, but we don’t have it yet. But the idea is good.

It’s been around for a long time, they brought it to us from Kharkov. And Kharkovites have been working on it for a long time.

Can it be combined with ZED?

From George Shepelev To All 27 October 1997

There is a long time ago. Another thing is that there is no widespread software...
Who is interested in a “universal” modem connection - look at the
doc for the T02 terminal (I rushed into the echo a long time ago)...

We should have started with this! ;-)

P.S. Well, is our terminal launched?

With best wishes,

I don’t understand.... When I prescribe echoes for myself, they are not “read only”, I’m writing here
and I didn’t ask the moderator’s permission for this....
