Most likely, this is so. For example, my SB Pro OPTI931 _NEVER_
does not sound without a special installation program. But for different types of
cards, as far as I know, the installers may also differ, so what should
make a powerful config for the subject?

No, I run sndinit before that with the volume set.
Emul just keeps quiet.
I heard that with ESS there are the same problems.
