ZX-DIGITIZER!
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Oleg Bashtenko → To All 21 March 1998
Hello All.
GIVE THE SUBJECT DIAGRAM!
For those who don’t know, I’ll explain -
The board is connected to Specky on one side, and on the other side, a
video signal from a video recorder, video camera, TV or SAT tuner is supplied to the video input. On the Specky screen
we observe black and white digitized graphics almost in real time. With the help of a simple software using a hotkey, we rob the frames we like onto a floppy disk.
It’s strange that no one even stutters about this development! The most important thing is that the circuit is simple!
AFAIK there are three versions, but we couldn’t see it live!
One of the developments lives in Kharkov - 100%!!!
If they shared the circuit (bug-fix) it would be even cooler.
GIVE THE SCHEME DIGITIZER!!!

IMHO even if someone has this information, he will be screwed.
Public support is needed here! By the way, this weight would also be useful in
developing a video on Specky, which some people were talking so noisily about here recently... =)

I know that this is the development of V.M.G. from Kharkov, it was even
published in the magazine "Radio Amateur" (Minsk, paper),
it seems, in 1995. As far as I know, the author does not have FIDO, but he does have a telephone. If anyone needs it, I can look it up.
V.M.G. Everything can be sent by paper mail. It's all written in ZX-POWER.
All the best.
With respect, Roman Milukov.

Well, I have this diagram. There is no program. There is no scanner either. It's hard to draw in ASCII (it's big). Shortage of free time. What should I do boom?
Yes, I don’t need the diagram at all.

I don’t have the diagram, but I saw the results - I don’t recommend it, you’ll just waste time on assembly
wasting your time.

In St. Petersburg, several years ago, this scheme was intensively offered on the market. Of all the people we knew, only Joker-Soft purchased it (they wanted to use it as a scanner for
graphics for their Apollo :) They bought the camera, so small, b/w (used for
observation) for ridiculous money. Well, in short, it was not possible to use it as a scanner
(there was not enough lighting), but the photographs simply turned out _very_ cloudy (I don't
know how it is in Kharkov). I don’t know about real-time.
They probably still have the scarf - I’ll ask about the diagram (only in those wolf
times there weren’t any diagrams attached, IMHO, but the names of all the mikrukhs were erased
:)
ps. You’d better ask Artie how they digitized themselves in Binary Love :))
Warm greetings, Slava!

There are two options - give it by train, or to a friend who travels to Lviv
regularly. Let's do this - you send me your coordinates (address, phone number),
then you can call me and I will send a messenger to you.
Well, then the diagram is scanned, and with the permission of the moderator;) placed in the echo.

That would be nice. Although, by and large, MAXI from CodeBusters also knows
the author. Now, if only the “code hunters” could be motivated into this matter...

I had a subject. IMHO, you can’t achieve decent quality with it :( Or, as I tried to do, you have to process the picture very much. This is with ideal
image quality on a box or video camera.
Respectfully, GodFather.

In the 22 Spectrofon, the game Bloodwich, FFC release. There are pictures obtained by this
piece of hardware using a video camera from a book, and with minimal improvements. I
would not say that the quality is poor.

So it’s Gray Scale, in addition IMHO a lot depends on the quality of the assembly
and settings of the device itself.

People, don't suffer. On Spec, with its graphical capabilities, you will only get good videos or pictures when you sit on them for an hour or two.
And freebies will not work here.

A professional SVHS video camera is taken, filmed, via averkey from SVHS
video recorder, digitized into AVI, then Adobe Premier brings it to standard, and
then it's a matter of conversion technique + major player for flicks by Flying&Sauron,
all... =)

is this about the subject for natural spec?
I once had a scheme by VMG, but there are only five gradations
of brightness (although the quality is not the worst, even better than average ;)
If you really, really need it, I can look for it...
(by the way, about video - there are few gradations -> it will be cool to pack :)

There is such a book - like ZX Forum N2.
There was a diagram. I took frames from different video sources.
If I’m not mistaken, the contrast is there regulated...
The circuit is quite simple - 174XA11 for catching synchro, SRAM type 62256 (3 stones
like) - for storing the frame, harness for work... Well, and - software for transferring
frame from the device to ZX.
(I wanted to grab the book right now, but I couldn’t find it. If anyone is interested, remind me
later, I I'll look)

Most likely you are right and you are driving =)
And the question was about the video.
The pictures, indeed, 3 of them were borrowed from the PC, but completely by hand
drawn.

Is this the one with RoboCop? If so, then the quality is certainly not bad, something can be taken apart, but still, IMHO, it could have been done better.
