Zx Asm - Rulez!
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Sergei Novikov → To All 2 June 1997
Greetings, All!
I’m interested in your opinion, it makes sense to create a new command in assembler
LD (NN),MM - similar to the line LD HL,MM: LD (NN),HL???
Another question: can anyone else come up with useful commands that would speed up
the programming process? Like
EX rp1,rp2 - PUSH rp1
PUSH rp2
POP rp1
POP rp2
PS: LD (NN),N do not offer - already fixed ;)
Hasta la vista, All! See you in Eden!

Greetings, Roman! Glad to see you again!
Answering yld Tuesday, the 03 of June 1997:
SN>> EX rp1,rp2 - PUSH rp1
SN>> PUSH rp2
SN>> POP rp1
SN>> POP rp2
RP> This is 42 measures. And you can do it faster, but A gets spoiled: (for example: ex
RP> bc,de)
RP> LD A,D
RP> LD D,B
RP> LD B,A
RP> LD A,E
RP> LD E,C
RP> LD C,A
RP> Total 24 bars.
RP> A little longer but more effective.
1.5 times longer ;) But the fact is that there is absolutely not enough space - if
all this had been introduced long ago. And Push's are easier to fabricate (they take up less space).
But ideally it would be nice to introduce exs rp1,rp2 (exchange short) and
exl rp1,rp2 (long).
Hasta la vista, Roman! See you in Eden!

DPOKE MACRO ADDR,VALUE
LD HL,VALUE
LD (ADDR),HL
ENDM
Imho, whoever needs it will write it like that. Otherwise, you can get a taste for it and forget that
HL is changing.

On the day 04 Jun 97 Andrey Mihaylow had the good fortune to write to Sergei Novikov:
AM> LD A,ADRES = LD A,(ADRES)
No, that’s wonderful!
What is the difference between the two following commands?
ld a, 3fh
ld a, (3fh)
The assembler, of course, can separate constants, label constants from
constant addresses, but the clarity is greatly reduced.
