7. Working with a tape recorder
First of all, if you want to work with a tape recorder and tapes
recorded in the ZX Spectrum format, you must assemble a simple gadget
with 5 resistors and 3 capacitors. The lotion diagram is in the file
ADAPTER.DOC. This gadget works in combination with ZART absolutely

wonderfully. At least with the help of it I was able to read cassettes
that were not readable on the spec. In addition, it makes absolutely no difference whether the cassette was recorded at normal speed or at double/triple speed.
After you have assembled the gadget and plugged it into LPT1 (ZART does not
support others), you need to configure it. To set it up, I wrote a small
program TAPSET. Run it, and use the adapter regulator

no signal (gray bar). After that, put the cassette with the ZX Spectrum program and turn it on somewhere in the middle. Use the regulator to make the white bar jump in the center of the scale. Turn oncassette
in pause. The white stripe should either be absent altogether or slightly twitch to the left. After this you can assume that your adapter is configured.

The author has it, only at home. I'll bring it if I don't forget.
I actually once had the idea of writing a wav->tap converter. who needs it?
Goodbye.
