Question about format

ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Vladimir Yudin To All 10 December 1997

Hello All!

People, I am interested in the length of the data block that is requested by the controller
when executing the VG93 command record track (F0), i.e. length of the track in
bytes. In theory, a block of the same length should be issued by a read
track command (E0). Of course, this value will differ on different drives
(since it depends on the rotation speed and frequency of the generator), but you need
at least an approximate value (+/- 16 bytes). According to my calculations, this is
about 1900h (+/- 100h).

By the way, the emulator can already write to TRD discs, as well as create
new ones.

Sincerely

Yes, somewhere around that. I did the math at the time - it turned out to be around 6200
(decimal).

Best wishes! Michael KLUG

The track recording command writes before the index pulse signal arrives!
As for the length, it is somewhere around 6.5 kilobytes (written from memory).
In the formatter I allocated 7 for it, just in case!

And where is he?

Now I read in the FDA doc (thanks to Slava) that on DD drives
the disk rotation speed is 5 revolutions per second, and the data transfer speed is 250 KBit. The total is: 250000/8/5=186Ah
