would like to make a board that would simply increase the number of colors in one
familiarity, without affecting the main memory of the computer and without altering
the circuits.
The graphics accelerator (video support) significantly increases the overall performance
of the system in games and other programs (graphical editors, music demos), where a quick
"screen redraw" is needed. Even without turbocharging the processor, as in the Sprinter, you can
unload the CPU from geometric calculations, which are all very slow in the
absence of “hardware support”. Yes, and banal LDIR (but not the entire screen
but its parts, and these are rotations around axes, compression/stretching, filling, etc.)
Atmel AVR does it much faster ;) The circuit will still have to be “broken”:
firstly, you need to distribute access to the CPU and PC betweengeneral memory,
you can also “drive” the resistor control unit into it (in the attribute field when they are not
used :)), secondly, you need to attach the resistor with local fast memory
(although its internal EPROM and RAM may be enough) to the system bus.
And so, a very elegant, “cosmetic operation”: one twenty-four-legged chip
for $15 and "awesome" video acceleration. How to really expand the colors, “remaining”
in standard 6.5 K, I have no idea ;)

What kind of chip is this and is it possible to get a description of it?
