Doing such elementary things not in a single frame is simply
unacceptable today!

Lana, I hope the dialogues will also be more literate.
P.S. Let's seal this topic before we go out, okay?

AU> How do you evaluate smoothness?
The standard way to evaluate smoothness. Coming from the demoscene of large computers.
First of all, from the Amiga. The criterion is how many frames the screen is redrawn. The standard frame rate is 50Hz. If they say one
frame, or in one frame, it means the program manages to update the screen in less than
in 1/50 sec. In fact, true smoothness can only be observed when the first number is always equal to one. Moreover, the second can be anything, depending on the capabilities of the system. (not only Spectrum).
There is also the concept of fps. Frames Per Second. Those. number of frames per second.
IMHO it is used on an equal basis with the previous one. and indicates how many frames
the screen is redrawn. Those. we can say that when something does not fit into 1/X, then the term FPS is used to more accurately characterize the speed. IMHO it came along with doom-like toys. (meaning in
use)
Good Luck...
... If I want your opinion, I'll ask you to fill out the necessary forms.

We must also take into account the amount of displacement of the object. For example, if Vinny-2
is 'single-frame', but jumps 30-40 pixels at a time, no demoscene will
help :)

By the way, strange. In cinema and television, the standard is 24-25 fps. Like,
based on the sensitivity of human vision. For what reasons do computers use a higher frame rate? And why does it _really_ look
smoother?

Because they scan the entire screen at 25Hz. Those. first
even lines, then odd.

In television, as in cinema, the standard is just 48-50 fps, but! There is one subtlety: on TV, the frame is transmitted into two fields (where the interlaced scan comes from), i.e.
in one pass, it is not the frame (of which 25/s) that is redrawn, but the half-frame - the field.
And in cinema, one frame is simply exposed twice.
As for smoothness at 50 fps - the fact is that the critical frequency
at which the eye catches flickering - just about 50hz. Therefore, the “threshold of smoothness”
is approximately 50fps, and 25fps looks a little unnatural.
By the way, purely physiologically, the critical frequency depends on the brightness of the image
- which is easy to see if you look at some picture in interlace and turn the monitor brightness knob.
Sincerely, Ruster.
