From Andrew MOA To All 2 July 1997

On the day of 25 June 97 Vladimir Larkov had the good fortune to write to Andrew MOA:

AM>> Nothing can be done here. Even if hypothetically we could
AM>> increase the output speed by a factor of two, it would still be slow. But
AM>> this was not what was done. It was assumed that the DIOS bundle (disk _file_ functions, independent
AM>> from TR-DOS) would be able to facilitate such things as
AM>> adaptation of tape programs (high-speeds, overlays, etc);

VL> And what is the point of adapting only to Scorpio? An artificial limitation of the number
VL> of potential users.

There were meanings, as you understand :) But, again, commercial success of this
action was not expected (by me, at least). On the other hand, there are people
who quietly, peacefully, at home, do all this for their own, so to speak, pleasure.

VL> At one time it seemed to me that all this would grow into some kind of achievement. In connection with
VL> the development of the hdd controller. Then IMHO it would be logical. Something like
VL> Amiga kickstart in ROM, or on a screw.

It is growing, but I don’t advertise it.

VL> By the way, what exactly is the debugger like? What is the policy? Have they forgotten about it?

I don’t, but there is no time (read funding) for it.

VL> I would like to know if there are plans to improve the 512th bellows?

No, there is no room there anymore. The only thing is that a few small things have been correcteddefects of the
debugger.

VL> Or everything that is not professional is screwed up?

I would be glad, but once again - there is nowhere (or - throw away 128 BASIC, but still
the fact that there won’t be enough of it in pro).

VL> If so, then it’s a pity, for a person without smuc pro is practically useless.

And vice versa.

VL> And At the same time, how are Stalker and his comrades? As far as I remember,
VL> on E96 there were lively conversations with them.

They weren’t conducted by me.

VL> I’m just saying that to debug your own code, IMHO it’s more convenient
VL> to use a shadow person,

Not yet (and it’s not known whether there will be), since I haven’t successfully
made a symbol table. And it’s better to debug your own code... I’d rather keep silent.
:)
