So you need to unpack them with the ZXUNZIP program, and you get the usual $b, $c, etc.

These are hobet files. You drop them onto a disk/disk image and then
install ZxUnZip - a program from the archiver package from Mikhail Kondratyev.
Or you can use the zxunzip.exe program from Misha on IBM in the same way, it
will unpack this .$z
