Hello comrade All!

This week (as the director of the Peters company, Mr. Noskov, said), the sale of Sprinters was supposed to
begin, I have a small question for All. Does anyone
intend to buy subject, and has anyone received the subject for free for making
software?

Sincerely yours Igor

I intend, but not “in the forefront”... as a person involved in the development of
hardware, I know that the first batches will inevitably contain a bunch of bugs.
Unfortunately, Peters does not have the opportunity to reduce the price for “starting batches”, as powerful firms - hard makers do.
As for development, I am planning to make all my games and programs for extended graphics modes and 20 MHz z84c15.

░▒▓██ Happy New Year, All! ██▓▒░

Sprinter ports.
All ports except the internal ports of the Z84C15 can be
forwarded. This means, for example, that port 7FFDh can be
decrypted as necessary for the normal operation of the program. (For example,
so that OUT (#FD),A always falls into 7FFDh)
Ports 7FFDh, 1FFDh, 0FEh are available not only for writing, but also for reading. (Not necessarily from the same addresses!) This also applies to other internal ports of Sprinter. (TR-DOS ports are not included in this category)
The Decoder Port Circuit (DCP) map is loaded into a special RAM page
(16k). It contains three permanent configurations (loaded after a reset)
and one USER configuration. Anything can happen in the latter. Switching
configurations is performed using the write to port command. The address of this port is also determined via the DCP card. This means that in the USER configuration access to this port (as well as to other Sprinter ports) can be closed, which
allows, if necessary, to prevent any program from working with the ports incorrectly.
The BIOS will contain the following functions for configuration.
1. Clear USER card.
2. Assign the address #AAAA to the port PORT_X
3. Disable the port from the address #AAAA.
The port address contains both bits of the address itself (This is still notall 16
addresses), as well as additional bits.
DOS bit, for changing the addressing when entering TR-DOS.
Bit /WR - write and read port addresses are defined separately.
Bit E128 - disable bit of port 7FFDh. In a sense, it is superfluous, but it
is necessary for compatibility with the ZX-Spectrum 128k.
PORT_X is the port number byte. In Sprinter-e, specific numbers will be set for each port.
The addresses at which decryption is carried out are A15, A14, A13, A7, A6, A5, A2, A1, A0.
Thus, #AAAA is an address made up of twelve bits:
E128,/WR,DOS,A15,A14,A13,A7,A6,A5,A2,A1,A0
At the input of the setup function there is an address and an address mask. The address
mask specifies which bits should be ignored during decryption.

I already have a sound card. There is no Soft for it yet.
First option:
8 voices, two channels
Each voice has its own control of frequency and signal shape.
The shape is set by an 8-bit 'sample' of 256-byte length.
Each voice has separate amplitude control in two channels.
Second option:
Computer architecture allows you to develop other options. For
development, information is required _HOW_ to play standard MOD files.
Ie. description of the process of playing samples of standard files.

TV> as with AY??? <- so far the most interesting question is, can we provide
TV> a socket for it?
AY-3-8910 will be emulated by hardware.

One note about _hardware_emulation_.
Formally, this combination of words is a contradiction. Emulation implies software processing, and in Sprinter the hardware is iron (:)).
Any logical circuit will work the same regardless of the basis on which it is assembled (Signal races, etc. do not count. The question is not about them now.)

Sprinterhas a special architecture that allows you to _change_hardware_. This
means that the inclusion of the ZX-Spectrum circuit leads to _FULL_ compatibility
of the computer with the ZX-Spectrum.

THE ISSUE OF CHANGING HARDWARE GOES TO ANOTHER PLANE.

To change it, you do not need to rewire the board. There is no need to change or rearrange anything. You just need to insert a floppy disk and run a program in which
information for the programmable logic chip is recorded.

TV> Does the Sprinter have hardware multiplication/division?
Yes, but not in all configurations.

TV> Why are there so few clock cycles per 1 int? (300000?)
21MHz, 20ms/per int - 410000 clock cycles - this is the maximum.
300000 due to RAM slowdown.
The maximum is not unattainable. Sprinter has a fast memory chip, on which
there is no braking.

TV> That's all for now, there will be more later ;)
I will answer everything.

You see Mach, the entire success of the Sprinter depends on how much
money is poured into its implementation, because It’s no secret that very little depends on the power of the car; basically, all success depends on things completely unrelated to hardware.
Unfortunately, the Sprinter is a secondary product of the Peters company, whose main
income consists of the repair and sale of PiSishek.
So we will wait and watch the actions of the Peters company.

damn, well, no need to lame! The technology for playing samples is in no way connected with HOW to play MOD. You just need to have
4 DMA channels for sound, and that’s it. Be able to set the period and length (at

It’s probably more accurate to say that it’s not the hardware that changes, but
individual nodes are switched to different options. That there are slightly

Scorpio has no architecture, i.e. it exists, but it is not the same architecture. Those. advanced hardware that can leaf through a couple of banks of
128k + pages from the 0th address. Scorp has earned popularity like
the Pentagon, because of its shadow + compact + everything is in the heap, and
the price was not so healthy (when the a500 cost 2-3 times more expensive),
and not like now - $170 for a completely bare-bones plan software machine

Yes, in terms of hardware the sprinter is advanced, I don’t deny that, but
a piece of hardware without programs for such money will be a piece of hardware. But not at the user's shelf, but at the manufacturer's...

It was a huge mistake to take 8-bit processors as a basis.

Yes. No jokes.

MR> btw, what kind of tricky logic do you have there?
Programmable logic from ALTERA (USA). Three years ago these microcircuits did not yet exist. And ALTERA is a leader in this matter. (possibly self-advertising)
Microcircuit 204 legs. Internal delays for 1 logical element are 4 ns.
A logical element is a D-trigger plus a 4-input logical element for
any binary function.
ALTERA claims that you can assemble your own processor on such PLMs.
Actually, in the Sprinter circuit there are several PLMs small
specialized processors.

I would like to express one truth, as it seems to me.
If you assemble a machine on Intel, you will get a PC.
If you assemble a machine on Motorola, you will get an AMIGA.
And to get Spectrum you need to assemble on ZILOG.

I don’t understand...if the chip is 84c15, then where did the 8x8 multiplication go?
> TV> is there a speaker? :)
>Yeah. Especially after midnight. :-)=
That is? in Spectrum 48 mode there is no sound at all?
>On the board are:

We must assume 2 com ports, because where else would you plug in an external modem?

> 2 slots in ISA-8 standard. The IBM modem is inserted directly
> into the slot. There is no need to solder anything.
What about the scanner? Have you tried plugging it in?
Another very progressive Touchpad device - gfx-ers would be very grateful.
Another very interesting question is how in the bright future a video helmet will be connected to the Sprinter if the video is “on the motherboard” and, as I understand it, is not subject to modernization, 3D-mouse and videophone? And if there are other editions of the "mother", then why
programmable logic?
> Printer, Kempston, Video, Audio..
> Power connector - P8 as in IBM.
>Boardwas developed in such a way that during installation there would be no need to solder anything. To connect all the peripherals, you need standard cables put on
pin connectors (like on PC boards).
We must hope that the power supply turns on without problems?
Nothing was said at all about “video” - IMHO one of the main “delicacies” of the Sprinter. Is it possible to turn on an SVGA monitor with its standard “cord”?
And in general, does the Peters company have any documentation for
users such as: Programmer’s Guide and Brief Technical Description, otherwise
unlike other Spectrums, this is the other side of the moon ;)

Sincerely, Andrey S./CGS

Ivan is that you?
...why were you telling me about Sprinter?

IM> Sprinter is the new Spectrum hardware!

Sprinter is not the new Spectrum hardware, but a new Spectrum clone. A
new Spectrum hardware is a re-wiring without any
architectural changes (re-wiring, in the sense of re-wiring or
any technological improvements, but not entailing architectural
changes).

IM>? How is it without iron? :-P

Periphery. Do you have a standard tire? :) I'm not talking about XT.

IM> This is exactly what has been done.

a new computer has been made that will replenish the small number of monsters
that have already been released. Almost all of them died safely.

IM> It’s just that Sprinter is Spectrum + all the bloat ‘in one bottle’ (c) reklama

right? If you don’t have to pay for the bells and whistles, then that’s great. Yes, and for
the remaining Spectrum+ - no more than 65 thousand rubles. for a fee. Then rulez. Otherwise
as it is now ~150$ - A500 with greater capabilities is better...

IM> And for every four bytes it takes three more commands plus a cycle... And then
IM> runs out..

yes, I completely forgot... there is such a thing in the Amiga chipset... blitter
is called. it can drive from 3 (THREE) places to a specific place
along the way, carrying out logical operations. Those. different xor or etc. For
working with graphics - a nice thing.

1st pointer on sprite
2nd pointer on mask
3rd pointer onscreen, where it goes, or just on the background (for overlay)
4th pointer on the screen, where it goes on the finished screen.

Do you have this? No. :))) And for the Spectrum with its planar
graphics, such a motor would be very useful...

Yes, I forgot - it can still make shifts on the fly, etc....

And about the time... Given that those commands are in the cache - fetching
them on a good process takes 1 clock per command... only the memory slows down.

IM> Sprinter has nine commands for lines up to 256 bytes long and without a loop.
IM> :)

on 060 the cycle operator is predicted and executed in 0 clock cycles.

Good Luck...

Ah-ah! This is not a one-time or multiple-time event! This is infinitely
programmable logic. It is based on RAM, not ROM. To change the circuit, you need to send 16 kilobytes of information to the PLM chip. This is done when the machine is turned on and can be done at any time. Those. I took the floppy disk,
loaded the _new_ circuit_ into the machine and started working.

Just the opposite. The video on the board can be upgraded. I don't know what about the helmet. You still need to figure out what kind of fruit it is.
As for the programmable logic, it is installed specifically for the possibility of
modernization.
PLM on Sprinter are microcircuits created on the basis of FLEX technology. This
means that the storage cells, which define all the logic inside the PLM,
are RAM cells, not ROM. The circuit in the PLM can be changed directly while the computer is running. And this means that no matter how the computer is modernized in the future, all old versions of programs will run on it without problems, because they will be able to include exactly the computer circuit for which they were written.

There is no need to install a battery. The circuit is located in ROM and is loaded at the moment of switching on in less than 1 second. Then another one can be loaded from a screw or floppy disk. Loading 16k is not so much.
MR> What if you overload it while working - how will it react?

You can overload during work. At this moment, everything freezes, and after
a reboot, a hardware reset appears to set the entire new circuit to its
initial state. Glitches is not the right word. On the screen it looks something like
switching video modes on a PC.

I make sure that the operands and results are in different cells. The bit width and operation
will be determined by another cell, and the result flags will be removed from
the cell. The results will be multiple. Those. after division, the result of division will appear in one cell, and the remainder of the division in another. When multiplying 32x32

Okay, But this is still not the same. The blitter works with rectangular

In order for it to work like this, you need to make a very
sophisticated memory controller that will distribute DMA
channels by priority. For example, in the Amiga, the processor and the blitter have
the lowest priority for accessing the chipset memory. (they can change
the level between themselves - either a stronger percentage or a blitter). Video DMA
has the highest priority, followed in descending order by AUDIO, DISK,
COPPER...

Hello, Ivan!

I remember that hardware multiplication/division was discussed here.
Aren’t you aware that Zilog makes coprocessors for such things?

===== Cut =====

AUXILIARY CIRCUITS.
With Z8000 microprocessors you can use 8-bit
Z80 CPU auxiliary chips (PIO, SIO and STC) if
demultiplex the address/data bus. However, for 16-bit CPUs, Zilog is releasing two new families of auxiliary chips: Z-bus devices numbered Z80XX, which connect to the Z8000 buses, including the multiplex address/data bus; universal devices numbered Z85XX, which connect to the CPU without a multiplex bus addresses/data.

Peripheral chips:
for │ univ│
Z-bus│ │ function
│ │
Z8016 │ Z8516 │DMA controller
Z8030 │ Z8530 │-/- serial communication
Z8031 │ Z8531 │-/- async -/-
Z8036 │ Z8536 │counter/timer and parallel I/O
Z8038 │ Z8538 │interface input/output device [FIFO]
Z8060 │ Z8560 │FIFO buffer and Z-FIO expander
Z8068 │ ----- │data encryption processor
Z8070 │ ----- │floating point processor
Z8090/4, Z8590/4 - universal peripheral controller.

Floating point processor Z8070 (FPU) is classified by Zilog as a so-called extended processorarchitecture and calls it
EPU (extension processor). It connects to the CPU buses and
performs floating-point arithmetic in parallel with the CPU. The floating point processor
controls the command flow in conjunction with the CPU, identifying and
executing its commands. Although the internal format of the FPU corresponds to
80-bit floating point numbers, data transfer between them
to the CPU is carried out in bytes and words.

===== Cut =====

I didn’t write this entire text, but it contains 16 and
32 bit Zilog processors and all sorts of peripheral small circuits.
Imho, we need to switch to a new one percent, and use the whole variety of
Zilog hardware.
But the Z8070 must be connected now. Definitely.

Jason.

In general, in all sorts of graphical 2D/3D transformations in 90% of cases

It depends on what config is being changed. If the port
or screen configuration changes, there is no reset. If the entire circuit changes, then in this case you cannot do without a
reset, because at the moment of turning off the circuit (resetting the PLM), the processor
is left alone with its ROM, one page of RAM without any ports at all.
At this moment it is only loading the PLM, and as soon as it is loaded,

Ah, yes, Mr. sophisticated pervert, specializing in dead
children :)

Good Luck...

Ivan is that you?
...why were you telling me about Sprinter?

IM> I'm talking about hardware, not Soft. But I won’t bet on money. (I'm afraid:)

Well, here we are... hardware can't do anything without software. No matter how beautiful it may be
, and sophisticated. Besides, the user doesn’t care about
how cool the hardware is, he is primarily concerned about the price
and what he will get for this money in everyday use.

IM> But it’s still worth it..

-> I have long argued that the sprinter is a MONSTER.

IM> In 8-bit it was something like 5MHz..

But it still can run 8-bit code. From this
itself, 5 megahertz, that’s what I’m talking about. It’s the same for you. On the basis of
a morally outdated process, make a new monster, and even under the
curtain....

IM> “BEFORE” because it is less or equal. And if we take only the speed
IM> of the accelerator, then there is exactly 7 million.

Now tell us where this figure comes from.

Good Luck...

problems? :) No, well, I understand, on 32-bit processors you need
multiplication/division to obtain 64-bit results, but on
8-bit...

Good Luck...

IM> It depends on what config is being changed. If the configuration of
IM> ports or screen changes, there is no reset. If the entire circuit changes, then in this case
IM> you cannot do without a reset, because at the moment the circuit
IM> is turned off (PLM reset), the processor is left alone with its ROM, one page of

IM> loading the PLM, and as soon as it is loaded, there is a transition to the
IM> program in RAM. This is done through RESET, because there is no other way...

hmm... the vaunted protection from hackers by changing the configuration goes
in a row towards the tundra...

Good Luck...

... In your config.sys you must specify BUGS=OFF.
