Sprinter (2Tim Yunaev)

From Andrew Savichev → To All 24 January 1998
Hi, All!
Hello, Tim!
TY>amiga has long been gathering dust in Western landfills, from where they are brought here at bargain prices
TY>. People there don't use dead computers for which they stopped releasing software long ago
TY>and whose development has stopped at a level similar to the 386DX40.
This is their problem... since we are 1000 times poorer than them, why should we now...
all hang ourselves? Nevermind...let's break through!!! To spite the enemy...water wears away stones...
this is generally the main trait of national character...patience and perseverance in
achieving goals :). And besides, a landfill is a source of wealth, and therefore
you can’t easily get through to any city landfill (and not only here), hmmm...
somehow I deviated from the topic...:)
>
> AL> and for Russia so far only the Speckie is suitable for the price, and the sprinter
> AL> fits both the price and modern requirements.

TY>Payment without anything - 600 rubles (about $100), did I understand correctly?
TY>For the same money you can buy a 486DX4-100 board with processor ($40), S3Trio64 ($20),
TY>Sound Blaster ($20) and 4 MB RAM ($20).
DX4-100 is a “garbage dump” and soon completely, FOREVER! will disappear from sale, no new
NATIVE software runs on it (without brakes), I’m telling you this, sitting on this
DX4-100 ;) They are all used, about 3 years old! and the Sprinter is new!!!
It is incorrect to compare the Spectrum with it!
The Spectrumist will receiveon DX4-100 only emulsion! - although this is a lot, but how
for example, release software for natural people without being able to test it
on hardware? Debugging of hardware is generally impossible!!!
Modernization, in the absence of source codes for the emulsion, too!
In general, by and large, ...all of this is naughty ;)
On the Sprinter you will not feel the difference with the natural Pentagon and very
a slight difference with the Scorpio (it seems that the professional ROM is not emulated).
Although it is better to have the original Scorpio, and the Pentagon, and Sprinter - if
money allows.

TY>Which of these two configurations is better in terms of technical parameters, availability of software,
TY>upgrade possibilities? They are the same in cost, and you will have to
TY>buy an additional case, floppy drive, hard drive, keyboard, etc.
TY>You are interested in a substantive answer, and not cries of “masdai” with a box of exclamation marks
TY>.
And here is your substantive answer: if we compare these $100 and the total cost of a
“normal today” IBM computer $500, then we get 1/5 total
cost. You won’t pay a hundred, dear man, but 5! hundreds of bucks (4 for
four).
Do you have them? Go, buy, install the emulsion (if you are still interested in the Spectrum)
What about the Sprinter? for $165 you will get the entire computer (without a screw, but with a floppy drive),
for $200 with a screw (small, used, but what to do?) 1.7 Giga to it alsoyou can’t connect(?), and why is it there, one wonders.
And what kind of upgrades are you talking about? except maybe a screw, a mouse, a modem and a printer, well, a scanner and everything else. Well, it costs money - then you need to start with the mother
!
Now let's get back to the software. What awaits you in writing? That's right, pirated
compacts with working software are waiting for you, and since you're offering to
buy a four, you'll still have a hard time looking for it, for example, Count. editors under DOS (for example, I had a hard time finding them in Relcom (I have off-line and pay per kilobyte), although you can also search on BBSes). And by the way, the configuration you mentioned above cost $400 3 years ago (yes, in 3 years it has fallen in price by 4 times!), and in just 3 years I lost $500 on my IBM PC:(
You will never lose that amount of money on a Sprinter! ;)
So think and decide what you want: DOOM or eat?
>With respect, Tim. [Team Aries - Rulez Forever]
Sincerely, Andrey Savichev / CGS

Andrew is that you?
...why did you tell everyone about Sprinter (2Tim Yunaev)?
AS> And here is your answer in essence: if we compare these $100 and the total
AS> cost of a “normal for today” IBM computer $500 - then
the comparisons between normal and normal :)))
Let's agree that the sprinter does not have even part of the capabilities
'a normal comp for today for $500'.
And let's take ComputerPrice in our hands.
Look in the sections Computers of the 386 series:
386DX40/4/270 - 135$ (it looks like without a monitor, but the sprinter
also without a monitor)
========== series 486:
486DX2-66/4/210 - 158$ (also without monitor)
========== series X5 (I don’t know what this means ;)
AMd5X86-133/4/270 - $199...
AS> we get 1/5 of the total cost. You won't pay a hundred bucks, dear man, but 5!
AS> hundreds of bucks (4 for four).
Hmm... let's see what we can buy for $500...
a stump of 100 with money, with brains, etc. :))))
AS> Do you have them? Go, buy it, install the emulsion (if you are still interested in the Spectrum)
Yes, on the 100th stump, the emulsion will work faster than a sprinter. ;) A
a few more upgrades - and even faster ;)))))
AS> A Sprinter? for $165 you will get the entire computer (without a screw, but with a floppy drive),
AS> for $200 with a screw (small, used, butwhat should I do?) 1.7 Giga to add to it
Let's look at the configuration for $200 in the last line. Pen-133. With
a screw worthy of pioneers....
AS> and you can’t connect(?), and why is it there, the question arises.
really - what for?
AS> Now let’s get back to the software. What awaits you in writing? That's right, pirated compacts with working software are waiting for you
AS>, and since you
AS> are offering to buy a four, you will still be tired of looking for it, for example,
AS> graph. editors for DOS (I, for example, had a hard time finding them in Relcom (why do I need DOS? You can use VIN, no problem.
AS> off-line and per kilobyte payment), although you can also search through BBSs).
you go to the crowd, and for ~25 tons you buy... although in there is no
online romance of searching :)))
AS> And by the way, the configuration you mentioned above cost 3 years ago $ 400
AS> (yes, in 3 years it has fallen in price 4 times!), and in just 3 years I
AS> “vanished” on my IBM PC $500 :( On a Sprinter, you will never lose such
AS> amount of money! ;)
You would also lose this amount in one go - by buying this miracle.
AS> So think and decide what you want: DOOM or eat?
What if both? The sprinter clearly doesn't have the skills to think, let alone eat...
Good Luck...

Hmm. Without any sound cards, that's all. on beep.

Used. Sump and sax. In a month it will break and you won’t be able to fix it.
