Well, they will buy one copy - for the museum of computer technology. And that's all.

And you download the software for XT or 286. It will still have more capabilities, and

You would compare not only the volumes and resource requirements (in which you agree with
AL), but also the capabilities of this software compared, say, with its previous
version, or with a similar one on Spectrum. It would be more correct.

AS> Yeah, if all Scorpios suddenly depreciate in value. ;)
Why?
AS> Let this not happen! You buy it for $165, and in a year it will not fall below $145!
I can’t understand one thing - do you buy computers like stocks? That is, they lie at home
in the corner, new ones are bought, old ones are sold, and you consider which one to buy in order to
lose less?
Then there is the best option - not to buy any computers at all. And if you invest money in shares, you can also earn money.

Sorry, most software works starting from 386, and most
have requirements, well, from stump 60. Yes, this is just an example of investing
money. The power is there, the software is there. What else do you need?
AS> And don’t forget that the Sprinter is a unique thing, in the best case scenario

Unique is 2-3 pieces assembled on wires.

I doubt that there will be so many sprinters... It will be the same

SOFTWARE really takes up a lot of space, but for this there is
(for now) a pirate market. It’s us, the Amizhniks, who still have to
pull out multi-gigabytes of warez manually...
AS> And therefore, I perceive Peters’ attempts to “inflate the screen” very

Even installing a sample card already inflates the size programs...
AS> Yeah, if all Scorpios suddenly depreciate. ;)
Theywill not depreciate, rest assured...

you don’t understand, I’m saying that this is WASTED money.
AS> Judge for yourself, why is there anything cheaper?
Go and buy some trinket, in a fit of blind stupidity, A
THEN try to sell it to a normal person. In the best case, you
will give it away for 1/10, and in the worst case, they will call you an idiot, because... They won’t
understand how it was possible to pay so much money for such squalor.
AS> No, Peters has normal prices, they also sell stumps nearby, and “how much”
AS> they know as well as you and me.
They know. I don't argue. But Spectrum just can’t be made so cheaply without having
technology. They hope that having done something advanced, they will be able
to sell it to hundreds of people at once, who, by inertia, will become zombies and
buy without thinking.
AS> And look at their board, estimate how much everything that costs there
AS> and it will become clear that $95 for such payment - the price is normal and even very
AS> normal! (if you especially take into account their circulation)
Yes, but you can make it more expensive. same thing. And it can be done cheaper.
Technology is a tricky thing. Piece things are unprofitable.
AS> He can reach the point of “thinking” ;), but as for DOOM...it’s all in DR’s hands!
well. Only for this money you can take a 386 with a propeller and have this
doom in allпозaх...

Well, how can people do this who have never seen either Scorpio or the Pentagon?
Self-deception is everything, Andrey... Self-deception and self-limitation of one’s own development.
Although, of course, in addition to opportunities, there are also limited needs, but here
there are cheaper options.

Yeah... It will be difficult to distribute software using floppy disks. Moreover, when this

That's the point - it's too expensive compared to the cheap prices on
other platforms. And there's no escape here. It would be better if they made a cheap hardware emulator for the pussy. 20$+130 bucks per pussy = 150$ with incomparably higher
opportunities. Or vice versa - a video processor for the Spectrum for the same $20.

yeah, for a pirated copy. Although, maybe the Peters will give
to the authors of CD games not 5 thousand as they want now, but 10 from the disk - otherwise it will not be profitable, because the price of such a thing will be incredibly high.
VM> And what do you want, if writing CDROMs for IBM have fallen in price

That's when the sprinter will have full development software, including
software for creating/replicating CDs, with COPY PROTECTION, and
when will the authors of this software be able to use their 500 rubles/4 months. buy
a recorder, and by that time there will be at least 1 user left with a driver - then
then this will help. (that's a big deal, huh? :))
p.s. Utopia in the sense. 100% protected software, on a 100% copyable
compact - who needs this?

I know that in a minute everyone will be kidding, but why not repeat the trick
with scratches on CDs as well?
On purpose on the allocated tracks (external, of course, because the catalog is located
closer to the center) we place beautiful defects in an _arbitrary_ place. It’s best to drill it with a drill or burn it with a soldering iron :)) Such a CD is inserted into the SD-rom and a map of bad sectors is again drawn up, which is recorded on a regular three-inch camera (in encrypted form). Of course, it is
impossible to rewrite a bad sector on a CD-disk, but copying such disks on CD-recorders is
extremely bad, if it doesn’t shut up at all (2Ilya_Fomin - enlighten me :)
And duplicating a floppy disk will not give anything, because it only fits
a specific disc.

Yes, about 100% software protection there should be an explanation - is it included here
100% protection of the distribution?

MR> yeah, do you think everyone will switch to CD? Who will write the CD? How much
MR> will they cost?
30-50 rubles, but how much do you think? Just a CD? They don't have long left either -
DVD is on the way... And there is already zip, jazz... And what to do - fast multi-color graphics appear on the Spectrum, but there is no lossy compression technology (and it won't save). How many megags, I wonder, do those flicks/avishkas with which they tempt us weigh? And this is just the beginning! Imagine a dozen or two
porn tetris/xonixes/sokobans, animated and in full color,
with which the Sprinter will be the first to be overwhelmed ;) And how many cartoons are being pulled out of the pussy... Soon you will get tired of buying software in boxes and filling cabinets with them.
If you manage to “curb your imagination” (AtariST managed this in its own time)... For some reason it seems to me that even before the release and demand for software for Sprinter
gets widespread - “either the donkey dies or the vizier meets Allah” (c)

Not the same system. Yes, and not technologically advanced. The carrier density is too
large.

haha! These are the disks that are copied! :) By the way, for that matter, then
the entire executable file is made on 3~, and the data is on CD. This is an option, but
perverse.
VM> Of course, it is impossible to rewrite the bad sector on a CD-disk, but copying

You can copy almost everything.

If you make a 1:1 copy of a CD with damaged areas, then perhaps
this floppy disk will fit the copies.
VM> 600 meterssoftware for Sprinter for 30 rubles - is that expensive :-?
For Sprinter? For 30 thousand it will be ordinary crap. And for the sprinter for
each program for 30 rubles. Either the disk will be full of the first program (it will still
be more expensive), or the price will be even higher.

It’s about the capabilities of software, not machines. The fact is that many
professional teams worked on the PC (those who left Spectrum) and the software was not only
high-quality, but also made quickly and in large quantities... You only have
a few programmers and economic limitations.

You can, of course, not drill the CD, but scratch the floppy disk, or check the length of the track
