From Ivan Mak → To All 28 December 1997
Hello All.
I started writing about Sprinter.
Now I continue.
TR-DOS 5.04Ei for Sprinter
Written by Ivan Mak
1. Support for RAM-Diks.
all programs that use
the standard entry point #3D13 work.
(There are still small gluks
when working with 128k memory
Pentagon, but it will soon
be fixed. )
By the way, that’s a cool word - fixed. :-)=
RAM-Disk can be connected
to any of the four TR-DOS disks.
Command /rmd X - connect RAM-Disk X to
the current disk.
X can have the values E,F,G,
H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O,P,Q,R,S,T
A total of 16 RAM-Disks.
Command /clear X - frees
memory occupied by the RAM-Disk X
RAM-Disk is a block of memory
of variable length, in which
the image of the TR-DOS disk
is located (file .trd). The file is loaded into
RAM-Disk directly from floppy disk
_MS-DOS_ or from HDD (also in
MS-DOS format) with the command
/load X file.ext
similarly, any file from MS-DOS
(for example, text) can be loaded into RAM-Disk. Further, all
data will be available through commands
5 and 6 points #3D13. After all the work
RAM-Disk can be written to a floppy disk
or HDD with the command
/save X file.ext
If necessary, RAM-Disk can
'format' with a simple command
TR-DOS:
FORMAT "name"
In this case, 640k RAM will be
allocated for the RAM-Disk. In operation, RAM-Disk
is practically no different from the
TR-DOS disk.
High Speed !
2. Support for MS-DOS disk format. and
the 3.5 inch drive is supported
and the 1.44Mb format.
I would especially like to note that support for the format
of MS-DOS disks _NOT_IS_ the
MS-DOS system.
The Sprinter operating system
will support various
disk formats and automatically distinguish between them.
3. HDD support. The HDD format is MS-DOS.
Again, this is only a format, not an
MS-DOS system. Sprinter has
the ability to have other
HDD formats. The MS-DOS format was chosen for
ease of data transfer between IBM and
Sprinter.
When turned on,
the HDD is automatically detected.
This allows you not to think about the numbers
of tracks, heads and sectors when
connecting the hard drive to the machine.
4. Entry point #3D13 is used to
call additional functions
BIOS Sprinter.
Functions opening an extended screen.
Functions for printing characters, output
graphic images, functions
direct access to the hard drive,
control functions, etc.
The same functions can be called and
using RST commands, if you open
a special BIOS page.
5. All the delights of 5.04Em are preserved..

No, but really, who knows why Golded swallows the letter 'H' when editing
with an external editor ?
