Quite seriously... and not a secret

ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Andrew Savichev To All 21 February 1998

Hi, All!
Hello, Sergey!

> AS> But the methods for solving these problems, from his point of view the most realistic,
> AS> seemed unacceptable to me!
>
>Easily implemented. Plus, only they allow us to talk about the distribution of _all_
>quality software, and not, as you have, individual units of software. These are completely
different points.
Give me the list...if there are more than 20 positions in 10-20 different groups then
we'll discuss. And so you see what’s going on...it’s a whole problem to persuade author
groups to write SPECIFICALLY for networks, and you won’t get ANYTHING other than freeware, demos, newspapers and old magazines IMHO.

>
> AS> You can’t take money from people in advance!
>
>It’s possible and necessary. And not “forward” - the software (at first frivolous, since the money has not yet accumulated to purchase it) you start receiving by echo, and only then you start
paying. These are all sorts of releases + demos + frivolous programs.
That’s it, go ahead and “for that guy.” In my version, at least there is confidence
that the money taken from you will go to “your temple”, and you have a direct tax system
of some kind “for the development of space” ;)
>
> AS> You can’t take money from people as a “pig in a poke”!
>
>And where do you think the “pig in a poke” is? You will receive all the normal software.
Once againI say...give me a list! Without this, whatever you call it, like “you will be
pleasantly surprised by the abundance, variety and quality of goods and services provided by the company” ;) ...that’s what I call “a pig in a poke”, I didn’t say
“pig in a poke” ;)
> If, of course, you pay. Otherwise, there will simply be nothing
>to pay the authors -> and there will be no software.
I do not deny this and also propose...to collect money, but

1) with 90% readiness of a particular product;
2) to a network trader authorized by the author;
3) in the regions by collectors - the same network traders, but other authors;
4) money is sent at once at 100% readiness and not BETA VERSION, and
passed testing and with the full collection of the required amount
(or, in the presence of SNB, a command is simply sent over the network to transfer
and the amount of money collected in each region, each trader has
a reserve fund and they not only buy, but also sell, and once
a quarter they sort out mutual settlements among themselves (with the help of the center),
I have already written about all this in detail);
5) generally accepted online price lists are in effect, prices are set
according to precedents and depending on the type and quality of the product (category
of the author).

>And making sure that many pay is the task of the press.
They will pay when they understand _what and how_ to pay and what all thisworks reliably AND IS RELIABLY PROTECTED FROM RANDOM FACTORS.
The press has nothing to do with it. Buying a product, like sex, is an intimate act,
for some it is even more significant than sex ;)
The press, like the author through the networks, can only talk about the product itself,
but the product itself speaks best about itself!

>The more they pay, the richer the authors, the more software
>the association can afford, the more new projects are created.
The only thing the association can actually do is this coordination of all actions, for this I agree to pay membership fees - 30 rubles. per year -
no more, and then preferably for a legal public non-profit organization
with a Charter and headquarters.
Don’t worry that it will die as soon as it is born, you read the Laws,
any such organization, completely legally, has the right to acquire
subsidiary commercial structures. Look, in a year or two, membership fees will no longer be required ;)
>
>If we had 5 million users, we wouldn’t have to scare them.
If you don’t scare us, it will be not 5 million, but 20-30 thousand instead of 5, which
is also not bad. But if you start helping “our people” find jobs
you will collect more - there are 10 million unemployed in Russia, half are young people,
another 1/5 are people with higher education, and some other proportion are former Spectrumists.
In a word, if“don’t be foolish” and “don’t miss the favorable moment
associated with mass unemployment” - then in 2-3 years of daily painstaking
activity of dozens of people, you can “bring into our orbit” up to 500 people actively
working for us and up to 20-30 thousand users.
And this is not some kind of filthy MMM, but a real “brotherhood” computer
intellectuals", oh, just don’t say that this is a Masonic lodge or a sect. Only one thing should keep people here - INTEREST IN THE SPECTRUM, business or
work related to the Spectrum.
>
> AS> Everything related to money needs to be legalized, otherwise either
> AS> bandits, or the police will come - and most likely first one - then the other ;)
>
>Now if you legalize it, the bandits will definitely come.
But you don’t understand - they will come In both cases, only if everything
is legal, they will come and say how much you will pay them, and how much to pay to the state the state will tell, and how much to the police - the police will say and the list can be continued... not the point. They have everything calculated by
the best economists, programmers, etc. - be calm.
What is the point for them to strangle you? Spin and spin, feed yourself and they will feed around you. But if you’re hiding, “you’ll be digging one under the bed,”
they’ll find you and crush you like a cockroach ;)

>But it’s generally legal all the timecarry out monetary transactions by mail? In principle,
the state gets 20% from this from postal transfers between cities.
If they figure you out even earlier - screw this idea. Play by the general rules
or don’t play at all ;)

>In principle, democracy remains. It’s simply impossible to write anything good about non-payers in distributed software. Quite legal and logical. A computer company will not accept for distribution software that boasts of pirates illegally distributing the software of this company!
It’s completely different, in general it’s like this: incentives should be only economic and
only positive, we live in such a time :), if you deceive the consumer, you’ll only punish yourself.
Think over everything again, yours and mine, and let’s come to something or close the market, and then the people are already tired, it’s really inconvenient.

> AS> So what does Sergei have to do with it? ;)
>
>So you’ve been in the echo recently... Although it’s clear: in that letter of his, half a kilo of text contains my
>last name mentioned 6 times. Which makes it clear that the person is clearly not himself.
Now I already know everything and even more than everyone else ;) ...a period of 7 months for me
was sufficient to understand and understand :)

With respect, Andrey Savichev/CGS

From Sergei Novikov To All 21 February 1998

AS> I do not deny this and also propose...to collect money, but

AS> 1) at 90% readiness of a particular product;

At 100% readiness. Money is accumulated and collected, and when the project is completely
ready, it will be given by the author to S.O.S., the money will be transferred to him and the finish :) If
to collect money for each product, then not only will there be no efficiency, but also
there will be complete chaos (not the Concern ;)

AS> 2) to a network trader authorized by the author;

Unfeasible ;)

AS> 3) by region collectors - the same network traders, but different
AS> authors;

Even more

AS> 4) money is sent at once with 100% readiness and not a BETA VERSION,
AS> but tested and with the full collection of the required amount (
AS> or, in the presence of SNB, a command is simply sent over the network to transfer
AS> and the amount of money collected in each region, from each trader there is
AS> a reserve fund and they not only buy, but also sell, and once a
AS> quarter they sort it out among themselves (with the help of the center) on
AS> mutual settlements, I have already written about all this in detail);

8) Who said that my project is unrealizable? What you propose is not even a utopia, not communism, but heaven on earth. It’s as if there are 10,000 rich,
dedicated spektrumists in the country who have access to networks and are ready in an instantOk
rush to the post office and give the required amount ;)

AS> 5) generally accepted online price lists are in effect, prices are assigned
AS> according to precedents and depending on the type and quality of the product (
AS> author’s category).

One word: %-7un agrees with this. The conclusion is obvious.

From Alex Letaev To All 22 February 1998

SN> Do you want to save the Spectrum with the help of persuasion from freeloaders? Ж87

We need to start not with fighting freeloaders, because this is now useless, but with timely delivery of advertising to most publications, information about program distributors, authors, representatives, with whom you can contact to receive programs or offers to the market. And then newspapers often come out with a small amount of news, and the authors are probably looking for this information. Why should newspaper authors bother with this? Let them deal with newspapers, and the coalition will
give operational information about the market. Most users, if
have up-to-date and interesting information on software, will want and will
buy not pirated software, but freeloaders, there is nothing you can do about them, but also
don’t offer them software for free under the SOS project.

Sincerely, Alex from FFC COMPUTERS.

From Arseniy Astapenko To All 23 February 1998

You can’t do any business without good targeted advertising, even for the long term. The product must not only be good,
it must also be presented, promoted, and aroused in the desire to
buy it. Otherwise, he will remain lying there, so good... :)
