probably won’t be able to come, since I have my own problems.
Firstly, the road, then the hotel, that is, the places are constantly
crowded, and also in the summer. Yes, and I don’t know whether I wrote to you or
not that I have problems with my eyesight. That is, I don’t see at all.
A speech synthesizer helps me work on Speccy, on which I
read texts. True, it was made incorrectly, and there are few functions in it, but for now it is enough for work, however, there are many inconveniences.
I have no one to finish it, since the person who started
to make it blamed it on IBM, and I will remain faithful to my Speccy.
Volodya, I am sending you an archive with the synthesis, it is written under is_dos,
there are a couple of versions, as well as source codes for them. Old versions
are made without bells and whistles, that is, they don’t read numbers, or rather, there is one
old version that can’tread the numbers. Starting from the second
version, synthesis reads numbers. They tried to add a few
functions - such as fast forward and rewind. But new versions
do not work normally, that is, they freeze. I’ll write how to launch
synthesis. First you need to convert it to is_dos, and then rename it so that it has the .com extension. Then move the cursor to the text file that needs to be read, and from the command line monitor call speech synthesis without any parameters, because there are no parameters for it. After you call speech synthesis from the command line, it will start reading the text. In new versions
buttons work. One - rewind one sector.
Two - rewind back one sector. Three - remember
the location, and with four return to where you remembered.
Volodya, since these versions do not work well, I was thinking about
announcing a competition for the best speech synthesis, since this is a necessary thing. Well, put yourself in my position. You always want to read something new, but there is always no one to read to, and you don’t want to be constantly dependent on someone. I would like the program
to somehow report where you are when you stop, since
text files can be large, and constantly reading from the beginning
is inconvenient, so that you can call from there,where
stayed. Also, so that rewinding is done more competently. And
so that everything works correctly. I think that you will say: “Why should
contact me with this? Why do people need syntheses, it wouldn’t be better to
make a cool demo.” But believe me, this is necessary. Volodya, you
have addresses for different magazines, so I ask you, if you can,
write to them and give them this proposition - to hold a competition for the best
speech synthesis. You can send them these versions that I am sending you.
